Corkster52,
Don't really know anyone that fishes out of a kayak (never even been in one myself)tell us something about it: how large is yours, size of water, tackle storage and maybe is balance any harder to learn than say a canoe. Also, to let you know how WELCOME you are!!!

                                                                      Skillet
How old do you have to be when you "know better than that"?

Thanks for the warm welcome folks.  Skillet, it is 15'6" long and 28" wide.  They are really a lot of fun and I can fish in water (and go over stumps underwater) of 8" or so.  I have it outfitted with 2 rod holders behind the seat and can carry quite a bit of gear.  I use a 1.5# anchor and a drift chute.  Latching into a 16" smallie is a real hoot.  It takes a bit of getting used to, but it is pretty stable. Haven't tipped it over yet, but I just purchased it last summer.  Have fished about 30 lakes and 2 rivers.  It weighs around 60 pounds empty and I can paddle for quite a few hours before needing to touch land and stretch my legs.  Will be adding a fish finder to it soon and a couple more gadgets.
