I just moved to Winter Garden and can doubly recommend these suggestions. But as for the fishing, I can't recommend much yet.

Yeah, as people have said, the 734 is the right rod, it's a great all round rod, and would be a good buy if you could only get one at the moment. Or you could do that 704 if you want a little shorter, as some kayak guys prefer. Pretty much whatever braid you want will work with that rod, i'd stick with 30lb-65lb. Just make sure you have somewhat of a plan about what rods you are getting (beyond the first one) before you pull the trigger.

WHY NOT BOTH? Haha. Braid and an FC leader is a good idea, just gotta learn the right knot. If the water is pretty murky, you could get away with straight braid, otherwise, stick with all FC or the leader. You should also consider how often you get hung up while fishing; if you tend to get hung up often, you should try braid (you can get out of more snags with braid generally).

You should be very happy with it. I've been using a 806cb for 10xds, and it'll throw the spro cranks and 6xds just fine.

That new Lew's SuperDuty 300, wowza. A Lexa is a good start too, or any round style reels are popular as well.

Sounds like the Fury is the way to go, I've got the 8' Fury and it's a bit overkill, so the 7'9 would be better suited. You may also consider the Okuma Guide Select rods, they're around the same price point.

Strike Kings are decent, I have mostly Spros in my tacklebox. I think they walk more easily, but the last couple have been filling with water much faster. I did just pick up some r2s bully wahs and I like em so far, a little bit cheaper than the Spros. As far as color goes I stick with natural colors, bright green "leopard" like ones, and generally brownish ones work best for me.

Yeah. Also, think about how sensitivity is going to be one of the hardest things to measure. Weight, balance, customer service and build quality are not hard to measure. And that's why I fish Dobyn's.

Wanna start throwing some big Jenko booty shakers, but I'd like to know roughly the weight of one. I can't get my hands on any right now to see for myself, so I'll be posting up here.

It's definitely a medium and not a medium heavy. You can always give dobyns a call, they know their stuff.

Sounds like a DC736 to me. You aren't gonna need that sensitive of a rod, so spend the money on something that is going to be well balanced and lightweight. The DC735 is a great frog rod, and the DC736 is it's beefier brother. It'd also work great as a back up jig rod, c-rig rod, etc. With it, you get great customer service and you'll be very happy with a solid product.

Hm. I have a 703, an old savvy. I'm sure the action is pretty similar. I use mine mostly for smaller spinnerbaits and squarebills. But it also works well with weightless plastics and light texas rigs.

Will probably grab one tomorrow from DSG, deal so great I cannot turn it down. What lures do any of you use with it? From the feel, it'll be a nice hollow-body swimbait rod, some lighter jigs and maybe some swimjigs too.
