    welcome
  2. First and formost get a degree and then get a job that pays the bills then think about going pro. It takes lots of money and most of it will come out of your pocket no matter if you have sponsors or not. If you have no way to make money outside of fishing then you will have a hard time at it.
  3. If the eggs have already been laid then typiclly the male will stay with them no matter what.

    Welcome to the forum.
  7. That's great. I will mark him off my MIA list.
  8. There are a couple of guys we haven't heard from in a while. (TbendTex, and burtus) Has anyone heard from them and are they still planning on going on the trip? I sent them a PM a week ago and haven't heard back from them.
  9. Guys you need to understand that Cybasser fishes tournaments on the island of Cyprus in the Mediterranean Sea. They can't use boats. It is a shore fishing tournament so he is asking if there is a good way that can help him keep a limit of fish for a weigh-in when he has to hike sometimes miles to and from the starting point. He wants them to be healthy enough for release after the weigh-in
  10. I fished a local pot tourny two years ago out of a 14ft jon with a cooler as a livewell. Some of the other anglers included some Stren Series pros and many local guides. And believe it or not I never finised worse than 5th out of an average of 25 boats. Just read the rules and make you boat work with the rules. For BFL tournies you need a boat that is at least 18ft and has a back casting deck and a split livewell. I think there is a min motor size to.
  11. OK have have been looking at the history of everyone that will be fishing the Classic and this is my short list. 1. Aaron Martins- He is from that part of Alabama. He is consistanly good during the pre-spawn. He finished 2nd on Lay Lake in 2002. 2. Edwin Evers- He is very good during pre-spawn in that part of the country. 3. KVD- Mr. consistant. Also has a great history in pre-spawn tournaments. 4. Ike- Good with cold water power fishing. I don't think he will blow up this year. 5. Zell Roland-(My Long Shot) He know Lay Lake very well and if he sticks to his game plan he will be in the top 10.
  12. As you can see by the picture, I am an old pro at getting poison ivy. I don't have any problems anymore because I found these. http://www.homeopathyworks.com/product.php?xProd=8728 I didn't think they would work but they are great.
  13. I'd fish in a puddle if it looked fishy. I fish in mostly manmade lakes and ponds from 3 to 71,000 acres. Some are very clear and others are muddy all the time. Most have some type of aquatic weeds but a couple are mostly rocky. I travel all over Georgia and some of South Carolina to fish.
  14. I totaly agree. My confidence bait is a Spot Remover jig head whith a green pumpkin finesse worm. The fish I have boated with it number in the thousands.
  15. Welcome
  16. Do some research on the effect hunting and the money from hunting have had on animal populations around the world. Then come back to this thread and tell us what you find. I'll give you a head start. Whitetails, or odocoileus virginiansis (scientific name), have been around for a long time. Approximately 3.5 million years. With a current estimated 25 million whitetails in North America, whitetail numbers were not always so abundant. Since the early 1800's deer populations have experienced several fluctuations. Native Americans killed an estimated 5 million deer per year to supply the fur trade. In the late 1800's, the deer population dropped to an all time low of less than 1 million. In some areas deer completely disappeared. The 1900's would bring some changes that would help revive the herd. Possibly the most important was The Lacey Act. The Lacey Act was first introduced by Iowa Congressman John Lacey in the spring of 1900. The first federal wildlife law was signed into law by President William McKinley on May 25, 1900. The original Act was directed more at the preservation of wild game by making it a federal crime to shoot game in one state with the purpose of selling in another. Another key factor was the organization of state departments of conservation starting in 1908. This along with strategic deer management during the rest of the 20th century brings us to where we are today. Over 10 million hunters chasing the majestic and elusive whitetail deer. This is just one small example. Check out the hundreds of other species that have been saved by hunters.
  17. Fish Chris said exactly what I was going to. It depends where you live and in those states where there is a greater chance of it being harmfull to the bass population there are already regulations in effect. (ie. closed seasons)
  18. My young bassmaster. There are dozens and dozens of ways to fish a soft plastic lure. Have you had the opportunity to read the hundreds of articles in our "Fishing Articles" section at the top of this page. There is more information there than you can imagine.
  19. I always keep some of my old power pro braided line to fix things like this. I just sew it up and it never gives me another problem.
  20. And they are 50 cents less than the ones on the Buckeye Website. Cool
  21. I'm glad your kidding Mike. I will be there with a borrowed boat and truck. Four or Five Rods. (Two that I made.) My confidence tackle in zip-loc bags. New line on my Diawa Advantage Reels and a good map. You will probably see me in my 3 dollar plastic sandals and wearing a gray tee shirt with no print on it and a pair of long shorts most of the time. Oh and I don't drink.
  22. I'm a barefoot man too. Socks in the winter.
  23. Do they make anything other than that one worm? What is the difference between them and the finesse or trick worm?
  24. Right now there are only a few places you can get the Pro Model. They have only been in production for a couple of months. I would look at their website. www.buckeyelures.com
