  1. Holy WOW!!!!! What a sack. That 8lber was awesome to.
  2. A few years ago I built a few crawfish traps that I put out from time to time. What I have learned is that there is really no rhyme or reason for color. I always find some with a little orange no matter what time of year it is. There are always some with red, or yellow, or blue. They very so much that I just try to match the color that I see the most. That color is Green Pumpkin in all the lakes that I've caught them. Then when I make my jigs I'll accent them with the other primary colors that I see. Those colors are Rust Red, Pale Orange, yellow or a shade of blue to give it a fresh moulting looks. But I always stick with the main color of Green Pumpkin...... Unless I'm fishing muddy or heavy stained water and then I'll pull out the black and blues.
  3. If I'm searching for the right crank and changing out frequently I will use a duo-loc and leave the split ring on. But as soon as I find the right one I will tie directly to the split ring.
  4. Tbird is right. Indirect heat is the key to perfect chicken. But as for your problem: Are you using tongs or a fork? Gass or Charcoal? Fresh or frozen? One flip or multipul ones?
  5. There are a few things we can do. But we don't have total access to everything.
  6. Just bustin your chops a bit. lol
  7. Gotcha Newbie !!!! LOL
  8. I can't believe how easy it is to knock Romo down. I mean it looked like if you blew on him he'd take the sack. He is a wimp.
  9. I'm lucky, I work nights at a very large Emergency Room and Level 1 Trauma Center. I know that everyone of my patients are having a bad day so I always try to brighten their day up one way or another. I seem to come up with a tasteful joke or quote for just about everything. It makes their experience a little be better and my shift go by faster. After 15 years I still love my job because of that.
  10. I love it when our younger members are as enthusiastic as BASSclary. Even though many of his posts are simple, perhaps even useless posts to some, it still means that he is reading things and willing to be involved. He's learning and that's all we care about on BassResource. Keep on keepin on young man. We love it. P.S. (To all our kids) BUT!!!!!!! There is a huge difference between enthusiastic involvement and simply being annoying. (There has never been a 15yo professional bass angler.)
  11. I have fished both and I can say there's not much difference. The balance point without a reel is about a 1/4 inch farther back on the Dobyns. The Loomis grip is thinner. I have big hands so this is a big thing for me. The weight is about the same. I'm sure there's a difference but I can't tell without a scale. The power of the Loomis seems a little lighter. Personally I prefer the Dobyns Rod. I like not having any cork forward of the reel seat. I like to put my finger on the rod for better feel I guess. I like the balance when I have a Revo clamped down and I'm working a 1/4, 3/8, 1/2oz Jig or a C-Rig. The hookset is always solid and I know I have enough power to get the fish out of whatever brush it's tucked in. For the price I really feel you can't beat a Dobyns Rod. Don't get me wrong I love a Loomis but nowadays I can't afford them.
  12. A few years ago I got to meet Hank Parker and my first impression wasn't very good. But since then he's grown on me. He recently showed up at the lake here at Kingfisher where I work and took a kid out for the Make a Wish Foundation. He treated that little boy like royalty. He's definitely worked his way up my list of classy pros.
  13. We have several community honey holes on Clarks Hill and most of them have nicknames. Just like with any lake you can use any type of lure depending on time of year, preference, and conditions. I'll name a few though. Hippie Cove Church Cove Jackfish Cove Gracewood College Cove Cardiac Blow-through Whitebass Island Horseshoe Island Camel Humps Monkey Islands
  14. It's all about the next cast. The excited anticipation of what might be. The pride in the accuracy of it. The desire to use all the skill you can muster to make it better than the last one. If you ever loose the desire to make the next cast then that's when you should hang it up. Until then keep striving to get better.
  15. You must post daily. Even if you have nothing of any interest to anyone on the planet, just post the first thing that pops into your head. That's how it's done around here. And you must be holding a jig in your left hand while doing so.
  16. I don't have an answer for ya. I'm showing you at 10 posts and that's still a Newbie. The only advise I have for you is get involved with the forums and enjoy the experiance and your status will improve. Welcome to BassResource.
  17. Go to Dobyns Rods' website and send them an email. It's the off season and I bet Gary would be willing to give you a little advice. He has been designing and building rod blanks for 20+ years. I know it's a shot in the dark but you never know until you ask.
  18. You're finally speeking my language. I love that School bus color.
  19. Here's my trick. Soap and water.
  20. Wayne, shoot Big O a PM about this. His other business is managing trophy deer ranches in Texas. I bet he has some insight into it.
  21. Those babies better be going on a smoker. If not you're better off tossing them in the trash.
  22. I keep forgetting, but with school and life its hard to get fishing time in besides this website. Just for an example......Adult life as I see it. 1. Marrage with 4 kids 2. Fulltime job at the hospital 3. In charge of a 40 member Boy Scout Troop 4. Time on BassResource. 5. Fishing guide at a lake 3 hours from my house with frequent overnight stays. 6. In charge of the Young Single Adult group in my church. (75 people) You have plenty to look forward to but time to fish isn't one of them. You have to make time or go nuts.
  23. Who are you going to get to host videos that long?
