Carrot Stix/Kistlers - Micro Guides
When looking at the new rods with Micro Guides take a close look at the foot and the thickness of material between the foot and the guide. Up to this point the micro guides that have been on the market for the past few years are lacking some strength and the foot is a little small. Both result in problems when fighting larger bass. (Bent guides and feet that slip even when a locking wrap is used.) The only rods that I've found that have addressed these problems are the new Duckett rods. They have redesigned their micros by beefing them up a little, increasing the size of the foot and then adding two barbs on the foot to prevent slippage. Not to mention the ceramic inserts are locked in. IMO they are far superior to any other production micro on the market right now and you can't beat the price.

10 mistakes amateur anglers make
1. Thinking that the lure is the reason for not catching fish. 2. Putting to much emphasis on that perfect color lure. 3. Not spending the time to find the fish first. 4. Must have the best of everything in order to be successful 5. Thinking that that other fisherman across the lake is catching fish when he/she's not. 6. Being stuck on the same bait. 7. Always going back to the same spot because the fish were there last week, month, or year. 8. Not visualizing the lure under the water. 9. Not practicing accurate casting. 10. Not finding a fishing mentor.

Fishing in the wind
On Clarks Hill the fishing is best when there is a small craft advisory. I fish out of a 18.5 foot aluminum boat so the wind can be a challenge. Those of us who enjoy fishing in the wind start by replacing the trolling motor with the strongest one we can afford. I have a 74lb thrust on the front of mine. Then we use lures that cast well into the wind. (Spook, Fluke, Trickworm.) Things that are aerodynamic. We make casts that are low to the water. I go a step farther. I have three anchors in the boat. I usually use two but sometimes I have to break out the third one. All of them are on long lines and I put them out in two different directions at a 90degree angle or wider. My drift sock is rated for a 21 foot boat. Finally. Get a good pedestal seat. It will help you keep your balance and wear a life jacket. So if any of you are ever on Clarks Hill. That's me in the tan aluminum Triton bouncing up and down while fishing in three and four foot rollers.

How do you deal with....
Thermacell. I bought one three years ago and I don't hunt or fish without it in my boat. Turn it on and stop worrying. It's awesome.

its about to get personal
This is it. The best advice in this thread. I've seen this work several times.

Fricken Poachers...
It's not just for this case. Three years is just the agreement between the state listed in Interstate Wildlife Violator Compact . You loose your privileges in one of the states you loose them in all those listed on the agreement.

Best Trailer Hook for a Spinnerbait?
The main one I use is one by Ol' Nelly lures. It's a long shank hook and has been great for my over the years.

Shocking: CAUGHT OVERBAGGING, 141 SMALLMOUTHS!!
You're kidding right? There are always maximum punishments set up for each law. These guys deserve what the judge gives them.

Deadliest Catch
I think that the Jake/Jake tradeback was more staged than anything. I'm sure they hammed that one up big time. To many set-up shots, to much staged screaming.

Fishing Regulations
The cool thing about regulations is there no gray area. It's all black and white. And they aren't hard to follow. Georgia DNR publishes any changes each year in a special section in the front of the regs book. It's easy to understand. Another thing that's good is all the major changes are brought up in regional meeting that are open to the public and then the feedback from those meetings are taken seriously. These meetings have stopped several changes over the years. It's pretty cool to see.

McNaughton Who??? Did anyone else see this!!! (Lawsuit)
I've talked to Brent about the suit, like what has already been said, it is over the design of the pincers. What I don't understand is that if the suit involves the design and manufacturing then why are distributors also named in the suit?

Gulf Coast Oil Spill
Really Burley? Did you have to put your troll costume on for this one?

Found something out today about flourocarbon
"Just a little tip" Keep a little piece of wax in your tackle box and rub it on the 4 feet of line just above the topwater lure and it will float. This works on most lines.

Dobyns 705c, 736c, 735c
For flipping and pitching I use the 735C and would recommend it to anyone. I'm much more accurate with the shorter rod. Now for a frog rod I use a 685C only because I fish in live flooded timber and can thread a needle with that thing and it has the power to drag a pig out over logs. So a 705c should work just fine for frogs.

Hook Set
I've got a few questions for you. What action rod are you using? What line? What kind and size of hook? Did you see the fish bite the fluke?

Good Jig Trailers
Yep, it's got smaller pinchers. When I'm throwing a finesse jig I just pinch off a little of the body to make it like a chunk. It should be exacly what you are looking for.

okuma spinning reels
I fish over 200 days a year and have been using the same three Okuma spinning reels for the past six years with out a single mechanical problem. They are missing a little paint though. I would recommend them to anybody. The bad things you hear about Okuma from those who have never had an Okuma spinning reel is due to their horrible baitcasters that they made a few years ago. They have come a long way sence then.

New PB
That my friend is a beautiful baby.... and a boy to boot. Congrats and take care. If you need any advice on how to hook a rod holder to a stroller I've got it figured out. I have three boys and they all caught their first fish while sitting in a stroller.

Favorite Craw Style trailer
I basicly use three different trailers depending on the action and fall rate I want. Zoom Super chunk Rage Chunk Paca All have different actions and the bass love them.
