  1. There was a time when I didn't, but one day, for some reason I put it in my tackle bag. At that time I was fishing out of a little 14ft Jonboat. I was fishing an area and two teens came around a point and started at me. They stopped right where I was fishing and I said hi and asked them to move off of the spot I was fishing. They kept moving closer and closer and I didn't think anything of it untill they started looking in my boat. I heard one say to the other, "Does he have anything?". I then reach into my bag and showed them what I had. They quickly turned and went the other way. You just never know.
  2. I don't agree with hiring a guide at all. But if any of you ever come to Clarks Hill to prefish you better be getting in touch with me. That lake can tear you to shreds. A lot of the bottom is only 2ft deep and you will still be in the middle of the lake. When I'm preparing for a tournament I do call guides that I know. I'm looking for general information so I don't have to pack a garage of tackle into my boat and truck.
  3. Cody, I was in your shoes two years ago. I couldn't catch a cold on a jig n pig. The only way over that is to take only jigs fishing with you. Fish them every time you go out until you gain confidence in them. Once you see the quality of fish they can bring to the boat you will be hooked. Good luck and let us know how it works out for you.
  4. I'll be there for sure. It is always a blast and it's never as expensive as one might think. Just buddy up and share the costs.
  5. That's by the Dead Sea Mafia. Great video
  6. I got into wildlife photography back in the days of 35mm film. I started out with a Nikon N2000 when I was 15. It was full manual and I loved it. I was the photographer for my high schools yearbook. It was fun I'll have to go dig in my parents attic to find the pics but I got some great stuff back then. Since I got married and had kids I've been taking pics of them and not so much of the outdoors. It's alot of fun and one day I hope to have time to get back into it.
  7. True, I believe most of the best bass fishermen in the world aren't fishing professionally. They are weekend fishermen with a job that they know will pay the bills every month. Many of which are right here on Bass Resource. It always amazes me how many of the Elite guys know about BR and frequently are lurking.
  8. Whenever someone asks "What is the best" of something they are asking for an opinion and that's what they will get, a whole lot of differing opinions. The fact is that Zoom makes dozens of soft plastic baits of different shapes and sizes. Bass will like some more than others on different days and under different conditions. I caught my personal best LM on a trickworm. I won a tournament on a brushhog. I caught my first bedding fish on a 6" lizard. I caught six fish on six casts with a brushhog and JJ's magic. I caught my PB Spotted bass dropshoting a finesse worm. I love an Ol' Monster in the summer time. A Speed Worm is my favorite on a C-Rig. I love a tiny Lizard on a Mojo Rig in the Spring......... See what I'm getting at. Conditions, confidence, application, and personal preferance dictate what is the best of anything. Stepping off of the "soapbox" now. fluke
  9. Kelley, Where did you hear this one.... That's awesome. I have well over 50 buzzbaits and several are double bladed. I now have a project this week. 8-)
  10. The reason you do that is that the bait will squeek alot more if the blade is spinning against something that is not spinning with it.
  11. I mean no disrespect NKIT. Even with a Cavitron buzzbait you should pinch the collar down and break it in. It's the difference between a good buzzbait and a great buzzbait.
  12. Let's start with all the set-up tricks. 1. There is a spacer behind the blade. Slide it as far back as possible on the wire and pinch in tight with some pliers. You don't want it to spin. Careful not to mess up the flat part that contacts the blade. 2. Then there's the contact between the blade and the flat part on that spacer. Make sure as much of the two surfaces as possible are contacting each other. Use the pliers to flatten them together. If the blade is painted then take a flat file and file the paint off of the contact point. 3. Then go for a drive. Hold the buzzbait out the window and let the blade spin. Some people zip-tie it to their radio antena. The goal is the get it to squeak like fingernails on a chalkboard.
  13. 1/4 oz white with pearl white fluke
  14. This time of year I'm looking for a pocket or cove with a deep ditch or creek channel in it. Then I'm going to look for baitfish. If there are no baitfish then I leave. If I find baitfish I will do one of two things. 1. If the ditch is 15 feet deep of less I grap a Buckeye Lures Suspend Blade tipped with a Super Fluke Jr. and make long casts and let it fall to the bottom and then Yo-Yo it back to the boat. I work in and around the ditch. The bass should be stacked in small spots so when I get a bite I make dozens of casts to that exact spot and usually pick up a few more. 2. If the ditch is deeper than 15ft I will use my electronics and find the fish in the ditch and drop a jigging spoon on top of them.
  15. The crazy thing is that those numbers should increase by 1.5 to 2 lbs this Spring. We'll see. It's an increadable fishery.
  16. I know this shouldn't count because my fish are on steroids but here are the results of one day of fishing last spring. All fish were caught on hollow body frogs. 17. Oh man, How did I miss that. OK. The Spot Remover is not a shakey head jig. When used with the shakey technique it absolutely sucks. When you start shaking it you will notice that it falls on it's side. It is a pure stand-up jighead. It was origionally designed by Dr Roy Autman as a jig for fishing those areas that have nothing on the bottom. You hop it, you don't shake it. It has since evolved into a great jighead for fishing brush as well. It does not do well in rocks. There are better jigheads for that like a picasso.
  18. It's not the peg. It was the size of the hook. I think they have finally decided to go with a 4/0 and 5/0 hook to minimize the lost fish. Atleast that was the rumor around the shop last year. I've got several from a limited run of 1/4oz ones with 5/0 hooks. I have yet to loose a fish on them.
  19. Glenn, Keri, and I will be there on Tuesday and stay till the end. We ususally try to meet up with our members one night. Usually Friday or Saturday night. If Glenn hasn't already sceduled something we may try to do it again. We'll discuss it and let you know soon. We would love to see you and your family again bighead.
  20. Low sidearm cast with high velocity. Practice. Start with a high dock and work your way to a low one. I can't tell you how many hours I've spent skipping one dock this year. It sits three inches above the water. I'm determined to get to where I can get under that thing every time without hitting it.
  21. 9.98lb Largemouth Caught out of submerged grass in 7ft of water on a 1/16th oz Mojo rigged Trick Worm on a #1 offset worm hook, 8lb test fluorocarbon line. Sept 9th 2006 while fishing in a tournament with Senko77.
  22. Mine would have to be having a very very small role in this young man's accomplishments. Being able to watch him learn and grow into one of the best "Sticks" I know. It has been a great ride.
  23. I guess I've been on here so long that it doesn't bother me to check each section. I have to anyway just because I'm staff. But I can see how it would be nice to have that feature.
