  1. I've got two favorite tackle stores that I visit as much as possible. One is 120 miles West of me and the other is 230 miles NE of me. They are both family owned Ma and Pa stores that cater to tournament bass fishermen. If you can't find it at these two places they don't make it. R&L tackle in Covington Georgia is my favorite. It's a small shop with everything you need including a few chairs to sit and shoot the bull for hours. Ron is also the best Reel Repair guy I know. Aberdeen Bait and Tackle in Aberdeen North Carolina is a place that people go to find the old stuff, the discontinued stuff, the special runs, and newest stuff. It's wall to wall, ceiling to floor tackle.
  2. Don't you hate this Global Warming. :
  3. You're kidding right? I'm with bassnleo. We have about 12 inches on the ground, that's nothing. When it snows real hard and the plows can't keep up, I like to take the Jeep out for a drive and have some fun. It's not so much the snow but we usually get a good blanket of ice before the snow and then nobody has the equipment to take care of it. No salt spreaders, snow plows, nothing.
  4. We got nothing that even resembled snow, sleet or even rain and they still closed school. Leave it to the South to over react to cold weather. :
  5. When do you use a seven foot leader? I have a hard time casting anything over about three feet. Usually prespawn (Very Prespawn) main lake, steep points. The first places that the fish contact when they are moveing in the spawn. The fish are usually in a somewhat susspend state. I fish it very slow.
  6. Exactly, but that is after the game. It was before the game they didn't give Georgia the chance. This happens time and time again. So what I'm saying is "Why can't Sports Writers write unbiased, informative, intelligent reviews? Why can't the commentators call a game even remotely unbiased?" Go back and listen the LSU/OSU game with your eyes closed. Don't watch it and don't pay attention to the score. I bet by the end of the game you will think that OSU won the game.
  7. I put a Zoom Ol Monster 11inch worm on a #1 Dropshot hook and fished that rig for nearly a month this past year. Anything can go on a dropshot.
  8. When talking about the SEC and how the sports writers give them no credit my mind always goes back to the Georgia, Hawaii game a couple of years ago. According to the Sports Writers before the game, Hawaii was slated to win very easily. After all they were undefeated. Basically the game was over after the first series of downs. Hawaii players had never been hit that hard and they were on their heals from that point on. Then I look at the final two games of Clemson and Georgia Tech. Both teams had already made it into the ACC Championship and were ranked in the top 25 in the BCS. Both teams lost there final games to unranked SEC teams. I'm not saying I'm right and your wrong. This is just how I see it from my end.
  9. If you feel really confident with that response, than next time you and a buddy go fishing, put a bet on who will catch the most fish. You use artificial and let the other person use live bait. At the end of the day, YOU WILL be paying the other person money. I say this because I have fished side by side people that have very little fishing experience using live bait while I throw artificial. In every case I was out fished. It's about catching big fish. It's not the bait. It's who is holding the rod.
  10. I don't even think it's going to be a good game. Texas is good but nobody has come up with a match for the top SEC team in a long time. The SEC is just different. They seem to hit harder, run faster and have more experience in big games. The SEC is so full of great teams that they beat the crap out of each other all season and if anyone is left standing at the end they will win the National Championship. One day the Big 10 and Big 12 graduates who now commentate for ESPN will give the SEC the credit they are due....... Yea like that will ever happen. :
  11. I'll tell you what helped me stop all that and it only took one time. Wake up to your Sergent banging on the door because you are an hour late for work. Then stand in front of your First Sergeant as he takes $1500 bucks from your paycheck. That will cure you quick. I haven't missed an alarm clock since and it's been 12 years.
  12. Excuse me...... It's "Dawg" cupcake.
  13. I grew up trout fishing so my first artificial was either a Renegade dry fly or a #0 Mepps spinner with a copper blade. I'm not sure wich came first.
  14. The Carolina Rig is such a versatile rig and there are so many variables to it that it is hard to narrow down the one way I fish it the most. I will put anything on a C-Rig, including a floating crankbait. I fish leaders as short as 6inches and as long as 7 feet. I will usually leave the weight free sliding but when fishing in brush or wood I will go with a short leader and peg the weight to help lessen snags. The one thing to always remember on a C-Rig is a low, sweeping hookset. Never set the hook over your head.
  15. Cavitron is a great buzzbait. They catch fish just fine. I fish a double buzzbait most of the time made by Ol' Nelly, but when I need a single buzz that has to run slow I will always reach for a Cavitron.
  16. You will not be disappointed. I love my Dobyns Glass Rods.
  17. Let me ask you a few question and see if I can narrow it down for you. 1. How tall are you? 2. Do you mainly fish reaction baits (spinnerbait, crankbait) or do you prefer soft plastics? 3. Do you prefer distance or accuracy?
  18. I joined this website in early 05'. I was a bank fisherman and needed to know more about how to find these stinking bass so I could catch them more often. I found this site and started reading the articles and got involved in the forum. Now five years later I win a few tournaments each year, I am a guide on a World Class Bass Fishery and I was lucky enough to be asked to moderate on this site that I owe so much to. Welcome and enjoy what we offer here. You will look back in only a few months and say "WOW where would I be without BassResource?" I promise.
  19. How much are you willing to spend? I have one that makes a version of a very popular standup head. But it wasn't cheep. I'd be willing to sell it for a fair price.
  20. A sharp one...... I don't have a real preferance.
  21. I removed your personal information from the bottom of your post. It's not a good idea to post your contact information on a forum. Search engines, bots, crooks, and spammers can pick it up. It's best to use our PM feature and have your potential sponsors contact you using that. Thanks and welcome to BassResource.
  22. Oh the Furry Hoodie. All he needed was a bow in his hair and it would have completed the outfit. Happy birthday kid.
  23. Welcome to the family fellow Dawg fan.
  24. Welcome to the family.
  25. I have at least one of each and a couple of costom jobs. I fished over 175 days with them last year. The old breaking system really took some getting used to and was my only complaint but the new one is great, easy and good for any skill level. You can't find a better drag system out there. If you need the power to turn a big fish and get him out of thick cover it has it.
