  1. Oh the love. Can you feel it? It's the brotherhood of blabbering dorks. We've heard from Moe and Curly. Where is Larry?
  2. That would be boat #40 for him.
  3. I'm still using my Gen1 rods and I still love them. I now have 4 Gen2's and they are top of the line. No problems at all. All I use is Dobyns.
  4. I drive a 1997 f150 V8. It pulls my heavy 18.5ft Triton 186 Sport alluminum w/ a 90hp motor just fine.
  5. That's a good showing. Congrats. Never let anyone rush you to a weigh-in. Once you check in and the clock stops take your time and take care of your fish. I've never heard of someone being DQ'd for being last to the scales.
  6. Welcome to the family. You came to the right place.
  7. You might hear an "Oh Crap" from me, but that's about it. It's just fishing and I go back at it.
  8. I use 25lb Fluorocarbon and a 4/0 or 5/0 offset heavy wire worm hook. I Texas Rig it and I love creature baits when doing this.
  9. Megastrike is great stuff. I use it often, but when I really need the bites I go with JJ's Magic. I'll let my videos do the talking.
  10. Welcome to the family.
  11. Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, Indiana, Texas, Idaho, Hawaii, Virginia, Utah, Montana, Oregon, New Mexico, and Northern Quebec Canada.
  12. Keep it in a small cooler in your garage is a great idea. You don't need to keep it cool with ice or anything. What causes problems with JJ's is quick, drastic temperature changes. Keeping it in a cooler will prevent a fast change in temperature. Keeping the lid closed will keep it from smelling up your garage. I have about 30 bottles of JJ's in a drawer in my garage and I have never had a problem with it. But I might keep it in a cooler to keep my wife happy. lol
  13. H2o Crankbaits and jerkbait are awesome. They are the best crankbaits in my box. I've never tried their mono though. But I haven't found anything with the H2O label that wasn't good quality.
  14. Gar and bass will often occupy the same water. That spot sounds perfect. Keep fishing it. They will be there eventually.
  15. We've been doing this on a regular basis for a couple of years now. My boys have all the stinkin guns and those little ones with the laser sites are still the best ones. Go ahead and buy a pack of extra ammo every time you get a chance. Those things are good a disappearing.
  16. Zoom still makes Sour Grape. It's still one of their most popular colors. Look on line. You shouldn't have a problem finding that color.
  17. There are plenty of shallow points. The hazards are marked well. Not to many places to run agound out in the middle of the lake. Unless you go up the rivers. Then it gets harry. I know a few guys who will take it up the river on plane but they have hydrolic jack plates and aren't scared of 12 inches of water. Most of the docks are rigid. The water is usually fairly clear around the dam and muddy up the South and Yellow Rivers. It's a small lake. You can run end to end in about 20 minutes. If you can get out there during the week look me up. I'll be game.
  18. It's hard to fish that lake without a boat. It's all about flipping the stumps with Black and Blue jigs.
  19. I know both lakes very well. I grew up on both and I still do well every time if fish them. Give me a shout and I'll see what I can put you on. Jackson is full of Spotted Bass and still has some very big Largemouth. It has deep bluff walls and shallow humps. You can run up the rivers for a shot at some good LM or you can stay around the dam for some big spots.
  20. I need to make this statement. Just so you know. This lure pass is in no way sponsored by BassResource. This is a private lure pass and BassResource will not be held responsible or liable for any discrepancies pertaining to this lure pass.
  21. The Black ones are one of the best. Don't use the clear ones with the ribs. It rubs off the slime coat.
  22. Varner isn't what it was a few years ago. They put in to many hybrids that have eaten all the shad and then they stocked grass carp that changed the bite.
  23. I've got one that's right down the road from you. It's located in North Carolina. I just so happen to be a guide there. It's not a monster fish lake but the average weight come February of next year will be over five pounds. Yep, that's the average weight. The biggest will be over 7lbs. It is a World Class Resort with a private cabin on the most beautiful private 120 acre lake I have ever been on. You will be treated right. It is managed by the best Fisheries Biologist in the country. On a bad day you can expect to catch 20 fish and on a good day the sky is the limit. Early last March I caught 60 in one day on top-water. I could go on about it forever but I'll just post some pics and leave it at that. www.kingfishersociety.com This is a 25lb 13oz limit that me and my client caught a couple of months ago. These are a few pics of the lake.
  24. One of the best in the country is Lake Fork Taxidermy.
