  1. I've been shopping for one for several months now. I've been looking at the x-factor and several others because I'm not a small guy either. The one that has been recommended by three other big guys is the Native Ultimate. It's a hybrid kayak and they say it's the most comfortable seat there is and it's perfect for big guys. Now I'm just saving up to get one.
  2. KVD is not one to jump ship. He has been with Nitro and Quantam from the beginning and he has built a great relationship with them. He can only do so much as an angler. Do you remember when they stopped production of the Z9 Nitro. It wasn't because some government agency called them and told them to do it. It was because Kevin called them from the lake and told them of a big problem. They stopped making them, recalled them, and fixed the problem.
  3. Back peddling for sure. This kind of lying just rubs me the wrong way (nice way of saying ticks me off) The man in the picture, that you said was you, is a good friend of mine. I know fishermen tend to stretch the truth but come on man! How dumb do you think we are?
  4. I pour my own to. I use a Do-it Bass Casting sinker mold and the dropshot swivels that fit it. It saves me alot of money every year.
  5. Along with studying this time of year I still get out in my back yard and practice casting. I have several ring targets that I put out in my yard. I will spend hours working on my pitching and flipping. This will keep the rust off of ya while your water is still solid.
  6. There are times when that was all I had and it sucked. It sunk the front of the lure like it had a bill on it. It screwed up the action. Why would anyone want to use a sinking line for a lure that is supposed to float?
  7. Welcome to the forums. I have three boys and we fish all the time. The number one rule when taking kids fishing is once they say "I'm board" you pack up and go home. In time they will be able to stay longer and longer. The second rule is it doesn't matter how big the fish is so long as it is a fish. Go fishing for the smalles bluegill if that's what it takes. Just have fun but don't push a kid into fishing let them slide into it on their own.
  8. Yep, exactly what I ment.
  9. I use a mop jig or a version of one 100% of the time. I caught hundreds of fish on one last year. They are fantastic. I pitch it, flip it, cast it, drag it, hop it and this time of the year I just let it sit there for a long time. The first thing you should do is drop one in a tank of water and watch what it does when it hits the bottom. Compare it to a Silicon skirted jig and see the difference. I use two different trailers, 90% of the time it's a rage chunk and the other 10% it's a Zoom Super Chunk or Super Chunk Jr. You don't need a large trailer because or the action of the rubber skirt under the water. When it hits the bottom it moves out of the way and the trailer is the only target left for the fish to hit. It's not just a big fish bait. It's a tournament winning bait. The '07 Classic was won on a version of the Mop Jig and many other top tournaments have been one using one. It's an awesome jig.
  10. I'm sorry guys but I'm going to have to back out of this year's roadtrip. I was just reminded that we need to put a new roof on the house this year. I simply can't afford anything extra after that. I hate that I can't see you guys. Have fun though. Gene
  11. I'm going to totally switch gears this year. I'm going slow way down and focus on stitching with big worms and also fishing big soft swimbaits.
  12. With a little care it really is nothing to worry about. Once you get a routine down you will look back and wonder why you worried so much when you first thought about using JJ's Magic.

  15. One good place to place one is on a long point where the creek or river channel makes a U-turn, in other words it runs close to both sides and around the end of the point. Then find the shallowest place that meets the channel and drop it right there. This will be your contact point and where most of the fish will move up to the point when it's time to feed.

  18. You got it bro. Hang in there Burley.
  19. If you said this about a lure I would say a jig, so since you're asking about a rod I would say a Dobyns DX744C. My Jig rod.
  20. OK I asked him. He said when Spro let him design a stick bait he used things that he liked about other jerkbaits and put it into his design. He wanted the action of the Smithwick but he couldn't cast it well in the wind. So he had them put a weight transfer system in it so it would cast a long way no matter what the condition. He liked the body style of the MB Vision but he didn't like how it suspended. So the difference between the MB Vision and the McStick cannot be seen until you get it into the water and let it suspend. You will notice that the McStick suspends with the nose slightly down and the MB Vision almost stands on it's head.
  21. I tell you what. I will be seeing Mike McClelland tomorrow. I will ask him how many times he had to send the prototype back to the company until they got the bill angle perfect. I can't remember if it was four of five times. I'll ask him if he copied the MB Vision body and bill.
