  1. when i cast it. believe it or not i still like the unit for jigs and plasit worms and such. the unit is a Magforce 1500 "hi-speed" which is funny because theres nothing hi about the speed. anyone know where i can order a set of bearings?
  2. i like a spinning rod and a smoke colored tube on bass that i see. like was posted i try to make them mad and that might take a few casts.
  3. i also have my STX HP on the 6'10" BM GT and its my fav. combo. Browning rods are one of the best deals there are if you dont mind a rod that is a little heavier. they have a sweet hook-set.
  4. if i was a serious hobbiest that wanted a great baitcaster that would never wear out id buy nothing but Abu 4600C4's. i have 7 of those in one form or the other and the only part ive ever had to replace was the worm gear and paw.
  5. im not 100% sold on $200 rods but when it comes to baitcasters.....................serious fisherpeople that fish every day, 365 days a year know where that extra $150 went. on a side note, theres nothing wrong in my opinion with a $50 rod/reel combo if it does what you want. when the day comes im pitching a jig in wind and i want to not have backlashes, im picking up my shimano.
  6. ive had my revo on many rods. i personaly didnt like it on a 6'6" rod. i now have it on a cheaper Browning MH rod and i like the feel much better. believe it or not if i could get a Quarrow rod without mail ordering it id have the unit on one of those. if you can i would take the reel to the local store and mount it to different rods to see what you like. the bass pro shop here is real good about letting us do that.
  7. im going to bring the point up at the next meeting that draws for non-boaters be done before the morning of so that the non-boater and the boater can try to work together better. on a side note lucky for me the club i fish in only goes to the same lake twice so i dont worry about who fishes my spots after ive beat a path through them. id like to join a different club but that club makes you have a sponcer.
  8. i did what i thought most boaters would do, i fished my spots. he should be happy, he had more weight than me when it was said and done for the day.
  9. Congrats, ive never won a tourny.............i did however leave my mark at tablerock lake this year. thank god for purple plastic worms and 2 dumb smallmouth bass
  10. your non-boater has a list of places he wants to fish after youve already planned your morning?
  11. its not odd thaT fishing change a lot when the summer heat comes. this makes bank fishing for bass very hard. very early and very late are the key times to fish.
  12. http://www.ktb.net/~johno/nascar/z64rpics/122.JPG by brother caught 5 of these fish yesterday using the same crankbait. anyone else ever seen this before?
  13. i wouldnt be too suprised if the boat made close to 60mph. everything would have to be perfect. my brother has a 1988 tourny 1800 tracker with a bored 115hp that im sure would do upper 50's if he changed his prop.
  14. thats when you know youre burning mad, you dont even care if theres a . or a , in the whole post.

im not sure but as a guess i would find a way to attach the line farther away from the tip of the bill to get the bait to run deeper.
  16. http://i3.ebayimg.com/01/i/000/af/33/1890_0.JPG thats where the # is on both these units. why are the 5500C's going for so much? ive not done anything with it but i dont see what the attraction is.
  17. the unit looks more like 1974, it has a short handle with what looks like mother of pearl knobs(which are probably plastic).
  18. i picked up 2 old Ambassadeur reels today at a garage sale and was wondering if anyone could give me the years of these units. one is a 5500C and is stamped 751002, the other is a No. 5000 and is stamped 947424. thanks
  19. yesterday i dropped by bass pro on the way home with the boat. after asking a manager if they could remove the transducer and not damage the boat they gave me a new unit without power cord and transducer. the funny thing is i think i had my best high heat fishing day so far this year without the aid of the graph. all is well that ends ok so is said.
  20. my 2 month old hummingbird pooped out on me yesterday and i was wondering how some of you have removed glued transducers. Bass Pro "wants it all back"..................
  21. one thing i have that never crosses my mind in these types of topics is a set of packed wheel bearings. another thing is make sure that the lug nut wrench to your truck will fit your boat lugs as well, if not id find a 4-way.
  22. i would use a lot of plastics. rig everything weedless due to the fact that if you get hung up youre not going to be able to get it back. i like shorter rods when fishing from the bank, makes casting easier for me. id also have some lighter spinner baits and maybe a spook or 2. good luck!
  23. those are some good ones, i myself have one good one and one i hope to never re-live. one was on tablerock lake way up in the big creek channel. we had caught a few fish and while fishing some stumps i had hooked a nice fish. my brother being my brother says" i wonder if theres another fish in there" and tosses right back to where i was. i swear, his crankbait sat on top of the water for a few seconds and then was sucked under by a fish..........so we thought. he does the whole set the hook thing, braggs a bit, and hauls his catch to the side of the boat (noting its not fighting at all). i lean over the boat to view his catch to see a rather large turtle with the crankbait stuck in its mouth. doug yells cut the line but me knowing thats a $6 crankbait says no.........ill get it. i lean over the boat with long plyers in hand just in time for the turtle to push the hooks out of its mouth, add that with my brother pulling up on the bait with his pole, and i now have a face full of treble hooks straight from the turtles mouth. we all know how clean a turtles mouth is right...........lol. lucky for me, only one of the barbs went through the skill. believe it or not its was easier to turn the hook out of my face than my hands. maybe cuzz i couldnt see what was happening. the other time was at stockton lake. a storm chased us to the boat ramp and we were in a huge hurry to get off the water. another boater had put his boat on the trailer but had not pulled off the ramp. i waited for a few mins in my truck for him to move then finaly went down there, not real happy and asked him to move. in the middle of my not so nice plead for him to pull up lightning struck behind me scaring me to death. at that point i ran back to my truck like a little girl and waited for the guy to move........which he did.
  24. um.................where you going fishing next??
  25. i just sent an email to the corp of engineers just to see what they would say. im worried about dumping gravel because of all the gravel dust that would wash out into the lake. id like to be able to launch a nitro 929 but at the very least a 884 savage.
