What the Billionaire Uses

Featured Replies

There's a good article on espn.com about Bob Rich, the billionaire fisherman. The author went smallie fishing with Mr. Rich on Lake Erie. So what sort of reel do you think a billionaire uses? Sure looks like a $60 Pflueger President to me.

;):)

You don't become a billionaire by spending money unwisely.

if i was a serious hobbiest that wanted a great baitcaster that would never wear out id buy nothing but Abu 4600C4's. i have 7 of those in one form or the other and the only part ive ever had to replace was the worm gear and paw.

True. Neither did this guy. He inherited it from daddy.

Whatever his guide hands him.

Why is he dumb! It is a well made reel and gives lots of service and they stick by theior products. I know this because I use em, heve used for a time and many of my friends have.

Now how many times have you used either a President or for that matter a Stella? Just curios where you are drawing your eperience form :)

well muddy man,

i shouldnt have said he was dumb, but cmon man if money were NO OBJECT would you use the  pfleuger or would you buy the best?   i dont own a stella but i have handled one ...i dont like pfleuger(my friend WAS a pfleuger guy until 2 of them broke) & wouldnt buy one,so its easy for me to be negative against them.   just my opinion

i know dodge guy will be reading this soon ;D :;) ;D

Wonder if he would adopt me.

Leone Helmsly just left 12 million to her dog and nothing to 2 of her 4 grand children ;)

I think rich old guys are like middle income old guys when it comes to certain things.

We tend to use what we are familiar with.  Pflueger has been building reasonably priced but excellent quality gear since I can remember.  It's not like he bought a piece of crap.

My neighbor mentioned to his wife that he thought he might like to try fishing in our lake in a little.

This is a former Jersey guy who knows fluke, bluefish, flounder etc.

Never even seen a bass.

She asked if I would get him a "fishin pole" and hands me $300.00

I said "Whoa girl"  tell me everything you know about his experience and intent.  She said "I don't Know he said he'd like to try fishin in the lake - if you need more money I'll give you more.

(I'm thinking why do "other" guys marry girls like this)

Anyway to make a long story short I bought a ST Croix avid series rod, trilene line, assorted plastics like senkos, super flukes, horny toads, hooks, weights, about a dozen of the standard lures - rapala, jitterbugs etc.- AND a Penn black/Gold SSG series reel.  w/change for his wife.

Something told me if I bought him a Shimano or Daiwa he would be disappointed.

Well to make a long story short.  All he could talk about was the reel.

I knew to a guy who was basically a non fisherman except for a few party boat salt water trips in New Jersey, that a Penn Reel would impress him.  It did.

I had to keep going back to the rod, to show him the features etc.   Nope - tell me more about the reel.

He was in 7th heaven.  Go figure

No, you become a billionaire either by inheriting the dough or by knowing how to invest your money wisely.
