  1. lived in ca for 9 yrs, I would never go back
  2. u can pick up a 50 amp breaker that mounts inline for about 6 dollars. i tried just going to the batts and fried my connactors. u will be better off with 6 ga wire. u can pick up battery cables at walmart in assorted lengths, find out which length u need and rig some kind of connector close to your motor so ucan make the wires as short as possible. lok at the hydrilla gorilla website.
  3. my minn kota tm does not seem to push me all that well. it is a 46# foot control on a 1444 g3. is there a way to check the amperage draw or some method to determine if it is my batteries or my motor?
  4. i dont think my ideas got across. i fish mainly small reservoirs or electric only lakes. some have a hp limit. iam looking for a motor that will be cheap to run, that i can remove if i have to, that will allow me to fish larger lakes with safety. iam not a speed demon. now will a 9.9 do or maybe a fifteen? i prefer a 4 stroke for ease of maintenance, the 2 stroke would have to be a great deal.
  5. just the thread iam looking for.i have a G3 1444 that weighs 270 empty, add me tackle tm batteries etc, probably 600 lbs. will a 9.9 or an8 hp push it pretty good? will a 5 hp push it? i thinking of maybe the b&s 5 hp, or saving some more bread and going to a tohatsu 8 or 9.9. i am not looking for speed, just the ability to fish larger lakes safely.
  6. i have a fishin buddy w/ the sidefinder. dont get too excited, it is ok. i dont think it has helped me much. i mainly fish shallow ( <20 ft). hope u do better
  7. i was fishing at cewc, lake bennett, when i hooked a monster, fought him to the boat and went to take him in and the line snapped at the boat. i screamed in agony. this one was bigger than my previous 9# personal best. i cannot stop thinking about it. so the question is does anyone use a net, and can u reccomend one? i hooked this one not 50 feet from where i caught my 9 lber. i had a friend in the boat and this was his first time ever fishing, he saw what it was all about. strike king bleeding bait crank, w/ 14# test, god i cant stop thinking about it.
  8. i have a bunch of spinners that have lost there skirts, iam thinking about putting on some tubes to replace the skirt. anyone ever done this and does it work?
  9. bps, i bought mine a couple years ago, paid for itself many times over
  10. avoid the plastic.for that kind of money u can find a nice wide jon boat,u can even find a used one with a decent motor
  11. ok i can use 6 ga wire from my battery to a terminal, the tm does not have a 6 ga wire coming from it what do i do?ideally i would like to run 6 ga all the way to the trolling motor, plus i want to use my 50 amp breaker in line too, i know someone has an idea

  16. ok, everyone says to use 6 gage wire for your trolling motor, my question is,the wire coming off my trolling motor is not 6 gage. it is probably 10 gage. what do i hook the 6 gage to, and do i need siome kind of trminal block to do it?
  17. i had a 12 footer i wouldnt stand up in, my new one is a g3 1444,width a 44 inch bottom and a front casting deck. handles two people standing quite well. sae your money and look for a wide(44-48) bottom, these make great fishing platforms
  18. ok i found some 50 amp breakers for my trolling motor, now does anyone have any good mounting ideas?i need something temporary. i will be building a battery compartment next year.
  19. my new bow mount minn kota overheated my atwood plug.i am thinking of just using a standard electric outlet and plug to replace it.i would use a outdoor receptacle. any opinions or suggestions? i think i might need a inline fuse or breaker. any help would be appreciated.
  20. i know the trolling motor on the back just for getting on and off the trailer seems dumb, but all the electric lakes i fish in it is quite common. some people have 2 and 3 motors on the back and one on the front to steer. the back motor comes in handy on many occassions
  21. i have a bottom line fishing buddy, it mounts to the boat like a trolling motor and runs off 3 c batteries.i have a middle of the pack one with sidefinder, not worth the money. get the bottom of the line one, just over 100$.
  22. i keep a small set of tools in a old plano tackle box.if u can get a hold of some dessicant u can throw that in there to retard rust. Damp Rid can be purchased at home depot and put in a nylon stocking.
  23. i did it on one of my mii kotas, i could notdo it on my mg. one screw and tusn the head around. be careful putting the screw back thru the wires
  24. i ytold myself 10 pounds would be the limit to mount a trophy, but after talking to many old timers who never caght a 10 lber, changed my mind,i caght a 9 lber and had it mounted, before that my biggest was 5. u also hae to consider where u fish. a 10 lb in ca wouldnt be considered a trophy, but it is in ga
  25. u say throw the frog on top of the grass,do u mean up shallow by the bank,,and then reel out away from it.i had picked up a couple of scum frogs earlier this year i was just waiting on the right time to break them out. u shoul have seen the snake that got in my boat at fox, scared me to death
