  1. man, are we on the same page! i too seem to catch more fish when i knew less. the more i know the less i catch. the one thing that saves me is when iam fishing and no one else is catching i dont feel as bad. i was at ce sun on bennet and i caught one dink. it was so small i didnt even lip it, just shook it off at the boat. we fish a lot of the same waters, i too am mostly a crank, spinner guy. last yr i went to a c-rig and caught a few i cant seem to slow down enough.i find ft yargo, hard labor creek tough to fish, when i say tough i mean i dont even see fry swimming at the edgea of the lake, i wonder if it is fishing pressure or if the lakes are fished out. even when i go to elliot i never see anyone just slaying them. i consider 5-6 fish in 4-6 hrs a good day. seems like when i was new to fishing i caught more fish, when i had a RICKETY BOAT ,I CAUGHT MORE FISH. I HAVE ALL THE EQUIP NOW AND CASTCH FEWER FISH,ARRRGH.IGUESS THAT IS WHY THEY CALL IT FISHING AND NOT CATCHING
  2. so, how do u fish them?
  3. picked up a couple of these at wallworld . how do u fish them?
  4. i have been using them for 4 years or so. no problems with them. i check my line often and retie if necessary. i do not know how u would use them on a spinnebait. i just use them on my cranks
  5. i also would not get the b&s 5 hp. i had a chance to run one last year on my 1444 g3. the boat 2 200# men and gear , the top speed was 6 mph on a hand held gps. the motor is loud and vibrates like crazy. that being said if i cme across one for say 250$ i might buy it. with a 1000$ budget i would be looking at new 5 or 6 hp. go to internet uotboards or small outboards.com to see their selection. i hope this helps
  6. another. pls bear with me iam new to posting pics
  7. i finished this years mods after looking at everyone elses. i extended my front aluminum deck and made a battery box and some storage . 3 separate hatches, i used a 1x12 to keepweght down and 3/4 ply. the whole thing will lift right out with the removal of 2 screws. the wire is a set of 6 ga jumper cables with an inline 50 amp fuse. the back tm is hooked up to a foot switch up front for control. i might drill more holes for weight reduction and venting. what do u think?
  8. u will run into a lot of opinions out there. i use wal mart everstart maxx and everstart regular. the reason i do, and this is important to me, i can take them back to any wal mart and complain if i have problems. i get 3 yrs out of the regular everstart, this year i went to the maxx. i hope to get 3 + out of those. if u have to go half way to timbuktu to buy a battery it makes it difficult to return them. i am sure there are better batts out there but u will pay more and travel more. just my 2 cents
  9. i just finished my front deck extensionon my g3 1444. i purchased 2 new everstart maxxs for my front motor. i know some people dont like the walmart batts but, you have a 18 mo replacement and u can always find a walmart. i wired my batts in parrallel with an in line 50 amp fuse holder i picked up at an auto audio store for 10$. iplan on heading to cewc tomoorow to try everything out .i will post pictures tomorrow of my build
  10. walmart had the lake fork swimbaits, i just had to buy a couple.how do u fish them, what do u fish them on?
  11. i also looked at both brands a few years ago.welded is the way to go, get the widest one u can. that being said i found bass pro added on handling fees thet drove the price of the tracker up 300$ more. i ended up buying at b&b in conyers. i just got more for my money see if u can talk them into some extras if u go with bps, seat bases, a floor maybe, something. make them work for your business
  12. i have a 1444 g3 jon boat. i am considering getting a 9.9 hp motor for it, any ideas on the speed i can expect out of it? we used one of the 5 hp briggs last year and with 2 200 # fellas and gear we got just over 6 mph( gps).99% of the time i fish alone, could i expect 15 mph out of a 9.9?
  13. just got my reels back from reel mech, nice and smooth. cant wait to try them out. fast turn around and nice work. thank u reel mech!
  14. i have a pq that my thumb slipped off during a cast, now the drag will not work. i tighten it down and it is still loose. any ideas on how to repair it? i picked it up a couple of yrs ago with a pq rod for 50$ on black friday. i will try the repair myself, i cant see putting 20$ in a 50$ reel. that is what it would cost minimum to sen it to bps.if i fail i will use it for spare parts for my other pq. once again this is why i will not buy bps reels again, i know i rant about how such a big outfitdoes not have an in store repair facility. they give u the name of another sporting goods store when u ask about repairs, u call them and they tell u they cant repair bps reels. does that just sound wrong to u.
  15. yes they have a black friday sale. u better be there at 6 am. i picked up my 2 pq combos 2 yr ago for 50.00 a piece. some people walked out with 8 of the combos. i also picked up some abu eons a few yrs back, but that was a fiasco. i work right down the street from them, they will have some great deals ,but watch out for them trying to unload crap. u wont see a curado or citica on sale
  16. i do not reccommend a replica. i caught a 9# fish a few years ago, its tail was chewed up and it was long and skinny.spawned out.the replica looks good, but it is just a bass, it does not resemble the fish i caught, and it cost more than an actual mount.next one will be a mount i took pictires and everything to the taxidermist, i believe he just ordered a 9# form
  17. here is my problem with sending my reels out, i work right down the street from a bps.u would think with all the reels they sell in that store they would have someone local to repair them. they gave me the name of a local guy and he wont repair their reels either. i have many local guys who will repair my shimano, abu or quantums. but that huge store wont even send them out for u.like i said, with them being so close i can always catch a sale, but is my money better spent on gear that will last or gear that i can throw away?
  18. i like their rods, u cant beat them when u get them on sale. the reels, thats another story. i own 2 pro qualifiers and one extreme.u cannot have them repaired anywhere but bass pro mail order. my extreme worked great for 3 yrs, one of my pro qualifiers broke something internal when my thumb slipped on a cast i have to send them to bps for service and repair.i dont feel 2 bad though because i bought the pq combo for 50 a piece the day after thanksgiving.i will stick to shimano or abu from now on as far as reels go
  19. the cfc is the combined federal campaign. every year the federal govt runs a charity campaign to entice their employees to give to a charity of their choice thru payroll deduction. the list of charities is endless. they also do this for military people.it is a huge push and is done on the clock.i noticed the cast for kids listed in the book and chose them this year. i would like to remind my fellow bass resaource members to consider this charity, if u are a fed employee
  20. kramer from seinfeld. my kids call me a hipster dufus. i love the simpsons, and dont trust the govt
  21. this is for all u federal employees. when the cfc comes around to hit u up for this years drive, please consider the cast for kids charity. we need to promote outdoor education. we even have a prop on the ballot in ga this year to protect our right to hunt and fish.please consider4 the cast for kids during the cfc campaign.
  22. i have 2 of the small 50 amp breakers on my tms. has anyone used the minn kota 60 amp breaker? it looks larger and easeir to mount, is 60 amps too big?
  23. Raul, i dont know if u have nissan/tohatsu dealers around they list their 9.9 @ 81 # i suppose the mercury weighs the same.the hondas, yamahas, and suzukis are quite a bit heavier
  24. i have been doing some research and am unable to find any motor mfgs making new 2 strokes. i was worried about the weght issue of a 9.9 hp. johnson lists theirs at 74# a nissan or tohatsu 4 stroke lists at 81#. not much of a difference. the johnson was the only new 2 stroke info i could find. even the used motor prices on 2 strokes approached the price on new 4 strokes. anyone been shopping out there? if weight is not that big an issue anymore, is the 4 stroke the bettr buy?
