  1. I really like Loomis'drop-shot rod (6'10" spinning) and it's pretty much all I have been using. But I really don't want to drop 250 on another. The Carrot and Croix rod's were a little too stiff for my liking. Has anyone used the Loomis and say the Crucial or another brand drop-shot rod. I'm looking for a back-up that is close to the Loomis but don't feel like dropping that much money.
  2. As much as I love the Sox, they have a brutal road ahead and unless they have a horse-show lodged up there it isn't happening. But who knows. I really think the Cubbies are going to do it this year.
  3. I think there is nothing more fun hen seeing a decent sized fish on the scope in deep water (40+). Then seeing your line on the screen, seeing the fish dive for it, then zzzzzzzzzz. But fishing bridge pilings with it is my favorite thing to do. If there is a bridge on a lake, chances are you will see me near it at one point in the day.
  4. Your way off Bizzle, I mean come on. The two worstbands in history are Boston and Van Halen.
  5. If I remember correctly, I think we have their number in the post season. Don't sweat it.
  6. I'll have to see when it comes in, have not gotten mine yet.

    That, coming from a fly-fisherman?
  9. No when you get a good concentration of fish on a breakline, point, or hump you can ish it horizontal and get them.
  10. Ya, it's part of the Rhine River system.

  14. Banana's in the boat No net on the deck until the first hook-up
  15. With the drive and registration (Thursday) I would be gone from Weds to Sunday night/Monday morning. I have never driven that far and would want another day to travel don't want to fall asleep or anything. And I have to take time out this week because I got a spider bite that got infected and had to get cut open. I'm stuck in bed and can hardly walk. So I just don't think there is any way to pull it off.
  16. Have to around here This just came to mind.... http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1220406521
  17. Tin, if you are talking about the annual Lake Champlain International Bass OPEN that took place on August 31 out of Mallet's Bay on Champlain, the winning weight was 24.72-lbs. This was all largemouth, and the lunker LMB 6.54-lbs. The second place team weighed in all smallies 21.77-lbs, with a lunker smallie of 4.50 pounds. Also, this tournament is a SIX fish bag, not five. Serach Google for "LCI Bass Open" to see the full results. I can't post a hyper-link here yet. No I was on there in the last week of July.
  18. Yup. Works great around here, have to rig it absolutley perfect though. My only issue is pickeral and pike love it too. I have noticed I'm catching bigger fish in a couple of lakes off the docks and grass on this than I have in the past on a jig.
  19. All I needed to do is finish in the Top 40. Had a great year and even though I missed a tourney on the Hudson River I finished 15 on the co-angler side. So I qualified, really really want to go, but can't because of school. Talked to 2 of my teachers yesterday and they won't excuse me. And all of my classes give you a one letter grade lower if you miss more than 3 classes. d**n education system >
  20. Love a double-egg beater. The one's made my Hart are my favorite.
  21. Before this year I was a shallow-water jig and finesse guy. But I needed to learn quick how to fish deep clear water. A buddy of mine really showed me the ins and outs of drop-shotting this year and it is pretty much my favorite way to fish now. You can cover deep water quickly with it and I have really come to the conclusion that if a fish is in the area of the bait they are going to eat it. Of course the fish that are deeper are less pressured and giving them the chance to have a quick meal like a 3 or 4 inch bait is one they won't pass by, especially smallies. I looked back on my year on the Weekend Series and realized something. Every fish I weighed in was a smallmouth and everyone came on the drop-shot. Also, the shallowest I caught a fish in was about 12' but I had a tourney where I was catching smallies between 35-45'. While pre-fishing for one I acctually caught a smallie out of 81'. So if you want to learn to cover deep water fairly quickly and don't have confidence in a Carolina-rig or a deep diving crank, give the drop-shot a try.
  22. B.A.S.S. taught everyone this at Onieda this year because of the amount of smallies they figured would be gut-hooked. If the fish is bleeding, dump a sugary liquid (Mt. Dew works best) in the fishes mouth and it clots it and stops the bleeding nearly instantly. I have never had to do it but my dad says it works great.
  23. Don't know but Johnson's Pond would go against that Alan. Seems like most the good fish and winning bags are coming out of in front of Colwell's these days.
  24. O great, thats all we need. Another one of them MassHoles..... : ;D Those 6 plus smallies are hard to come by. I'm sure LP Harwich has atleast one.
  25. They need a new city too.
