Nice fish, judging by the color of that fish, must have been in some grass. Like every other fish down there.
  2. Can't say I do. Only FLW stuff I have done is the National Guard Junior World Championship, gone try to fish a BFL event or two in 2008.
  3. Most amount of rods I will have on my boat is 10. Like I said I always go in with a game plan that suits what I'm comfortable fishing. So I don't change very much. Unless something has drastically changed since the time I prefished I wont change much. Prefishing is the best thing you can do. If I cannot prefish a lake chances are I will be power fishing and covering water with jigs, traps, and spinnerbaits, till I find an area or pattern. Then I will settle down and go from there. Truthfully, I might change baits 2 or 3 times at the most if I change at all.
  4. Prefishing will eliminate a lot of baits and such. As for changing, go into the tourney knowing where and what your boater is going to be fishing. Never go in unprepared. If I know that I will be fishing laydowns all day long, I wont think twice of having 8 rods on my deck and 6 of them have jigs tied on. If I know I'm gonna be running and gunning all day I will have 8 rods with 8 different baits tied on. Just go in with a game plan.
  5. Good point, a Carrot Stix medium action is stiffer than the medium action of a Croix or Loomis imo. Same goes for the mh action.
  6. I like southern rock, MG, and some other country music artists. But I can deal with the my hound dog ran away, girl dumped me, store is out of skoal, type country songs.
  7. When you are thumbing them, they will just lock down on your thumb, then you have no skin left on your knuckle. Smallies are just mean creatures.
  8. I have the pro max and the black max. Personally I like the pro one more than a revo s.
  9. Also from the reel seat back is a little short on the 7'3" for my liking.
  10. If you couldn't stand the split grip handle and ended up selling the last rod you had that came with one, then go with the Loomis. It takes a little getting used to but I have learned to love it.
  11. I'm really liking it. Good job Glenn
  12. Try living with her > He can have her if it gets her out of my hair.
  13. For the Abu Max series and Revo's try ***.com. That's where I ordered my Revo S, Black Max, and Tourney Max from. Not to sure about delivery by the 25th but worth a shot.
  14. I agree to a point. For example, I wonder just how much "better" the Boyd Duckett Series will be over the baseline LTX. According to e21's website, the Boyd Duckett differs from the LTX with: Better Guides a different grip Gold anodized butt cap And you pay $100 more for those niceties. So, bang-for-the-buck, will the Boyd Duckett deliver? My guess is the cheaper LTX would provide a better value. x2, I'll stick to the LTX's.
  15. I do not know if it because our lakes are so small or what, but there is usually a 2-4 week window in late April untill the 3rd week in May to catch fish off beds, by June, the bluegills have taken over the beds. And unless we have a few warm weeks, the fish are off the beds by the time that water hits the 64-66* range. In some clear lakes around here largies will be just about all spawned out by the time the water hits 62*. Weird, must be a northern thing.

Discerning/differentiating bottom medium. It's what sold me on Loomis years ago...I felt the bottom like never before. It obviously wasn't as drastic as switching to a GLX, but I'll take any advantage that I can get. Ok, I think I got what your say but why tungstein to feel the bottom? Couldn't you feel more with a weight that covers more area, like lead?

Used to work at the landfill in RI. Used to have roll-off dumpsters go right off the truck when they were traveling up the hill. Crazy stuff

Ok so... Pro's=Size to weight ratio, paint stays on the head, better than lead in eco terms Con's=Price...Anything else? As for sensitivity, you have less line contact, but an ounce is an ounce is an ounce. It doesn't make it feel any lighter.
  19. Welcome, thank you for serving our country and I'm sure you will like it on Lake Fork, especially in about 3 months or so
  20. Ya, same guy, different technology. They are making golf clubs out of it and everything. All I know is that it is REALLY REALLY light, and REALLY REALLY sensitive, blows away an Airrus.
  21. Ya, he wasn't sponsered by them in the Classic he as still with Airrus, but in the Major he won he was sponsered by them but is pictued still using Airrus Rods, go figure.

Rod, I got a 6'9" MH Carrot Stick for pitching and 7'3" for open water jigs/ footballs. I'll give you a review soon... like 3-5 months.
  23. Great info Catt. Starting to notice something else different though. I noticed in the article it said upper 60's was ideal for spawning temp, in Oklahoma anyway. A few days ago in a spawn thread it was said that mid 60's was ideal in Maryland. Up here as soon as that water hits 55* you will start seeing beds getting made, and in largemouth lakes, where there are not any smallies, so they are not smallmouth beds (smallies spawn in colder water temps). If you are fishing in water above 65* up in New England chances are you have missed the spawn or the bigger fish anyway. So I'm starting to think that fish spawn in different temps in different parts of the country. :-?

See if spike-it or zoom makes white dye in liquid or marker form.
