I've been reading Nostrodamus, and I am convinced...
...there's another Daiwa Zillion in my future.

Richmond Fishing Expo
I'm going to try. My wife has already given me permission - that's the most important thing. But frankly, I forgot this was coming up. I just spent my money at Tackle Warehouse on a new Zillion and a bunch of Ima Flits. I might have enough money for lunch, and to buy a Silver Buddy at Greentop. ;D

Richmond Fishing Expo
I'm only good for Saturday. I have to attend a deposition in Baltimore on Friday and I won't be home until late that night or possibly on Saturday AM. I don't know If I can attend the Expo itself, but I'd like to come up and have lunch with you guys, maybe hit Greentop.

Richmond Fishing Expo
BTW, I ate at Phat Boyz a couple of weeks ago. Frankly, I think it sucked. Service was horrible. The BBQ ribs my kid had were fatty and gristley. The hamburger I had was overcooked.

Gee, that sounds almost good enough for me to treat you to a hotel room. :

Good, cheap baitcaster?
What's cheap? The BPS Extreme is a well regarded reel and can be had on-sale at really nice prices.

My first airbrush repaints
Those are your first attempts? Fantastic. Just curious, are you a modeller?

Carwax for exterior of reels?
+1. But I never spray on directly. I spray it on the rag lightly then wipe the rod down. I've tried car wax on a rod before, but if any gets on the eyes it can cake in the nooks and crannies and turn white when it dries. Doesn't hurt anything but it looks awful.

Carrot Stix or Kistler Magnesium TS ?
Call me crazy. but I'm thinking you don't like Shimano rods, do you? I just ribbing. I've never fished a Shimano rod to any extent. I'm sure they are fine. Although I knew a blind guy once that used a Cumara for a stick and kept on getting hit by cars since he never could figure out what he was touching with it.

Where is the next world record bass going to come from?
Here's a pic of that 28lb 10oz bass. Burley, get those worms...

Carrot Stix or Kistler Magnesium TS ?
Buy a Cumara. Then bring it home and bolt it to your kid's bike. Then glue an orange pennant to it so he don't get hit by cars.

Newer Pflueger baitcasters
And yet that's the way it is. Only you and RW seem to despise the Revo's brake. Those that have used my advice have come back to this board and stated the advice works, and so does the brake. Your experience with the Revo's brake seems very isolated in the scheme of things.

Carrot Stix or Kistler Magnesium TS ?
Don't buy one Crucial, buy two. Then break the guides off and give them to your kids to play swords with. That's all they're good for.

Yo-Zuri's Hardcore Shads
It's 36 right now, but it was a lot warmer this afternoon and the sun was nice and bright. No wind at all.

Daiwa Fuego or Shimano Curado E
I own a couple of Fuegos, and have had some time casting the E7. Either will handle 3/8 oz and under. My Fuegos with cast 1/4 baits very easily, and quite far. So I think you would do well with either. The Fuego is magnesium, so it's not saltwater safe. However, I think it is much more nicely made - but it ought to be for $80 more.

Newer Pflueger baitcasters
The STX/SX brake is actually very effective. It just takes some effort to learn it. The benefit of the Revo brake is that it doesn't create a massive spool like the combo brake mechanism on the end of the Patriach/JM reels. That steel plate and brake adds to the mass of the pool. I'm convinced with is the reason the Johnny Morris Elite reel I had didn't cast light baits nearly as well as the Revo.

best spinning reel for braid
You can try the new Abu Garcia Soron. It's designed for braid. It is based on the Cardinal 800 which was one of the most robust reels on the market. The Soron replaced the 800.

New RAGE TAIL baits in Hard shell clams
I like those clamshell packs. I think it was a great idea and keeps my space monkeys nice and neat.

Yo-Zuri's Hardcore Shads
These are about a $9 lure. The detail on them is as good as any high-end japanese bait I've seen. The hooks are excellent. The action in the water looks very good. They run true and have a very tight wobble. The rattling seems fairly subtle. I'm looking forward to trying them some more.

Crankbait color/pattern choice
For clearer waters, I really like holo greenie colors. Sebile and Yo-Zuri do them very well. For dingier water, I like firetiger. But I couldn't limit myself to just, two. There are too many other colors that work great.

big snake vs. average fish
Give it a whirl when the time is right and see what happens and report back to us. If anything, bass are optimistic. They'll occassionally hit lures that are too big of them. Hopefully, you'll find out there are even bigger bass in your pond.

Binding in reel handle
Sounds like a damaged/dirty pawl or level wind worm gear. Have you checked it to make sure it's clean?

Yo-Zuri's Hardcore Shads
I went out today with the intent to fish some jerkbaits. The lake I went to had been about 10 feet low all fall. When I got there the lake was full. I had these with me that I bought a few months ago but hadn't used. It was about all I had with me that would dive to any depth. They're floaters, and have a tight wobble. I started catching fish as soon as I started throwing them. A few small bass and some pickerel, the biggest about 2 1/2 lbs. Quite a productive lure on a day I wasn't expecting much at all. Yo-Zuri Hardcore Shad SH-75 in gold/black and holo shad.
