$25 Oil?
Aren't you glad you didn't buy one of those cars this summer that came with a "YOU'LL NEVER PAY MORE THAN $2.99 PER GALLON" deal?

$25 Oil?
I'd like to see that BS fall into a bottomless pit. Not me. I'm not much into "global warming," but clean cars, responsible drilling and clean coal all sounds appealing to me. I think hyrdrogen powered cars are past due. It's the most plentiful element in the universe. And we've known about it's potential energy for many decades. They should have been on the market for years. And if getting off oil does a double-tap on Russia's, Venezuela's, and Iran's economies, all the better.

How are those Daiwa Zillions?
You don't think a 7.1 reel is too fast for wake/swimbaits (hard swimbaits)? I know it's not a whole lot faster than the 6.3:1 but I'm wondering why you like it better for than the 6.3 for that techniche?

Berkley SS304 guides
My Fenwick HMX rods have those guides. No problems at all. They are light, that's for sure. I think the steel inserts are hard chromed. I don't use braid with these rods (I actually don't use braid at all). So I don't know how they would stand up to that type of line. But I wouldn't expect them to groove at all with just mono, copoly or fluoro.

How are those Daiwa Zillions?
I was thinking of a couple of Daiwa Zillions in 6.3:1 for a 7' M rod I like to use for jerkbaits, and a 7' MH I like to use for bigger wake baits and swimbaits. Anyone have any comments on the Zillions?

$25 Oil?
I'm very happy to see the "green" momentum continue even as gas prices fall. I thought maybe people would back off drilling and alternative energy as gas became cheaper. Doesn't look like that is happening.

$25 Oil?
I don't understand how they can keep doing that without cutting their workforce. Their economies are built on oil. Seems to me that their unemployment rates will have to soar.

$25 Oil?
My kids are going to start drinking unleaded instead of milk. We go through 3-4 gallons of milk a week and it's expensive. If I can get them on gasoline, well, I'll save a buck or two.

Does anyone know how to clean up a sound file?
I ran the "restoration" feature and it did clean it up a little. But I think the audio quality may be so far gone it can't be cleaned up but so much.

Does anyone know how to clean up a sound file?
Thanks. I'll download the free-trial and see if I can do anything with it.

Does anyone know how to clean up a sound file?
I'm trying to figure out if there is any software or any other way to clean up a sound file that has a lot of "noise" in it. This is the file I am interested in clarifying: http://www.2ndbattalion94thartillery.com/Chas/GioLinh2.rm You can barely make out what's going on and I'd like to clean it up, if at all possible, so it can be heard more clearly. I know this may be way out of my capability.

Alewive help
Any shad color should be fine. I don't think a bass much cares if the lure looks more like a blueback or an alewife. But the alewifes I've seen had a browner back than other herrings. This particular color has worked well for me.

Yup, and already have some. Woohoo!

My Magic Swimmer review
Good post. Otherwise, my experience is rather the opposite. If I retrieve mine even close to briskly, they run about a foot under the surface, no matter where I let them sink. It's an effective bait, but my expereince is that they do rise up on retrieve.

Fenwick HMG & Berkley Series One
I've been fishing Fenwicks for some time now. I really like the HMG series. I have 6 of them (2 spin, 4 baitcast). I think it's a light, very sensitive rod and represents a very good value. I admit that I have broken one. I'm not sure if it got damaged or if it was a manufacturer's defect. It was a 7' MH baitcaster and I was pulling a bass out from depths of a blowdown. I put a lot of stress on that rod and admittedly may have banged it my gunnel. The bass came free and I put the rod aside. I didn't fish it the rest of the day. When I got home and was wiping it down I noticed a black ring around the blank about 1/3 of the way down. I flexed it and it folded in my hand. It had a lifetime warranty so I took it back to the store where I bought it and they exchanged it - no questions asked. The store told me they administer Fenwick's lifetime warranty for the first year, them you have to send the rod to Fenwick. I've not had a problem since then. But the upside is all my other HMGs have performed perfectly. I've even caught some decent sized blue catfish on my HMG rods. I caught one that went 12+ lbs on my 7' M spinning rod in around 20 feet of water. That was like pulling up a tire. And I've caught a number of schoolie sized stripers on my others. There are more expensive rods, but I think the HMG is one of the best in it's price range. It's light (about the same as a comparable Avid), extremely sensitive, and has really nice cork (I've seen worse cork on much more expensive rods). I wouldn't hesitate to buy another, and I may.

270 Winchester vs. 30-06 Springfield
Here in eastern VA we don't have a whole lot of places where rifles are legal, and those places that are are usually dense, unless you are hunting over a field or power/gas lines. I think the Ruger M77 Frontier rifle, their scout rifle, is a neat gun. And as my eyes get older, that forward mounted scope seems awefully attractive.

Team Daiwa TD-Pro spinning reel?
Dan, Greentop still has their Daiwa Fuego on sale for $149. It's a $249 reel that Greentop had on sale for $199. They told me they weren't selling well so they marked the rest that they had down to $149. They had 9 left yesterday and I bought 2. I'll bet they still have all 7 left. $149 is a king-kamunga-killer deal. You might be happier with a Fuego. $149 isn't much more than the TD Pro b/c you are looking at. If you can't make it to Greentop, they will sell over the phone and ship to you. http://www.greentophuntfish.com/

270 Winchester vs. 30-06 Springfield
I live in Virginia and own several rifles. The caliber I don't own currently and wish I did is the 7mm-08. I've always found this to be a wonderfully accurate, easy-recoiling round that has plenty of power for anything in my state. I've pretty much given up hunting and don't have any current plans to ever buy another hunting gun. But if I was in the market for a whitetail rifle, I'd consider one in that caliber. I'd also like to have a 6.5x55mm custom Swedish Mauser. :'(

Team Daiwa TD-Pro spinning reel?
Seems like a nice reel. Nicely finished and smooth. The TD-Pro is a BPS exclusive reel. Has anyone used them? Opinions? The sale price of $80 seems like a good deal. BPS Exclusive TD-Pro Spinning reel Note - BPS website is moving mighty slow tonight.

If they really are not stocking trout In Some Cali lakes anymore
Yep. I've heard about them frog-eating trout. Whenever I go out for brookies, I always take along my 7' MH/XF rod and a Spro Bronzeye. Nothing like a Bronzeye to bring in those 8 oz brookies. Seriously, if the there were no trout, perhaps frogs would be on the bass' menu. This is what happens you you manage wildlife with the heart instead of the head.

Abu Garcia reels?
The Revo Winch is a good reel, but it is a heavy bait reel. I can't make it cast light lures worth crap. But that's OK, I bought it for big, deep diving cranks, which it casts very well, indeed. It's geared for deep diving crankbaits. The Revo S is great reel. It will cast light and heavy baits alike. If you are looking for an all-around reel, the Revo S is the better choice. Its price makes it the value-leader in the Revo line. The Premier is very nice, but it has that externally adjustable brake you mentioned. (But for the life of me, I can't figure out how you unintentionally turn the knob, it's rather tight to turn.) Given the criteria you mentioned, I think the Revo S is the way to go. It gives up nothing in terms of performance to the more expensive Revos.
