  2. My brothers house is in Suffolk, VA and he was lucky that it missed his house by about 1 mile. It did hit the hospital (the cancer ward) in Suffolk. My brother was glad their house was spared but was pretty upset because he works at the hospital as a doctor.
  3. Congrats on the 4.5lb lmb.
  4. Does anyone know if they have a cement ramp or is it gravel? Does it have a boat dock to tie the boat up to while you park the tow vehicle?
  5. We headed out to Smith Lake only to find out that you can't purchase the permits at that location and that you can only purchase them at Lunga Lake. With that we headed out to Lunga so JCrzy4Bass and Chai could purchase their permit to fish on the base. We also decided to fish Lunga rather than waste time heading back down the highway to fish Smith. We launched and cruised up lake on the right side arm of the lake. Jay caught a chain pickerel within the first 20 to 30 minutes on a Strike King Red-Eyed Shad and then the rain started to move in and the skys got really dark. We began making our way back down lake when it started to rain hard and the winds began blowing. Needless to say we got soaked and we decided to call it a day and make another attempt Saturday weather permitting.
  6. Is there a lot of standing timber? I am guessing it is in the coves not the main lake.
  7. Some information (city, state) where this park is would have been helpful. I wouldn't start with an attitude against this place, there are a lot of good people here willing to help but we have to know where you are from in order to do that.
  8. Here is the first picture of him, he is still alive after my friend stuck a knife in its head. VDGIF is sending him $10 for the fish. They told him to cut off the head to kill it and then he could throw it in the trash.
  9. Sorry to hear about your bad luck. It would be nice to catch those slime balls and give them a good beating.
  10. My friend just called me to tell me that he caught a 5lb snakehead in this lake and immediately killed it by sticking a large knife through its head. He is going to turn the fish over to VDGIF and let them know where it was caught as the creek from this lake leads right into the Potomac River. He is going to get me a picture to post this week.
  11. Paul, that is cool that your daughters enjoy fishing with you. Hopefully when they get a little older they will catch some nice size fish. Great picture by the way, thanks for sharing.
  12. Say what you want but the guy is just trying to help people become better fisherman. I have learned things from him as well as from pros on other bass fishing shows.
  13. Lipless crankbaits and swim senkos
  14. I catch a lot of lmbs on rat-l-traps and use various techniques depending on what works at a particular location. Some times just a normal return, other times stop and go and some times a yo yo return. Once I find what is working I stay with it. I will also swap traps between wide and narrow wobble patterns as well as trying both light and heavy traps. This lmb in my avatar was caught on a trap with a stop and go technique, she weighed 6lbs 8ozs and was caught on a Kinami trap.
  15. JCrzy4Bass, Chai and I are going to fish Smith Lake on the Quantico MCB on Tuesday. We will post up a report Tuesday when we get back, hopefully we can get on some nice size LMBs. Has anyone fished this lake ? If so did you have any luck?
  16. Actually it was right accross the rez on the point near the rocks sticking up out of the water. We did see some huge fish in the first cove that you spoke of. JCrzy4Bass said he thought they were large carp but I really couldn't tell for sure I just knopw they were splashing up a storm. We were seeing a lot of decent size fish on the fish finder in there though but couldn't get them to bite. What you saw (my rod doubled over) was most likely when I lost my jig in the brush over there. Ron
  17. No luck for JCrzy4Bass and I on Saturday. I did hook an extremely strong catfish on my jig and he pulled pretty hard and I ended up snapping my 10lb braided line, bummer. It would have been nice to see how big it really was. We also saw a bunch of dead shad and would like to know why.
  18. Where do you park to fish this lake? That way I can google the street and get directions.
  19. Paul, did you get any pics? I have never been to this lake and may have to try it one day soon.

Congrats Andrew, that is one sweet crappie That qualifies as a trophy fish, you should send in the paperwork for the citation from VDGIF.
  21. This is really cool to watch.
  22. Rapala has a lipless bluegill crankbait (similar to a rat-l-trap), they also have a bluegill SSR and a bluegill deep diving crankbait. I have caught bass on all three of them
  23. Once again, nice hawg you got there.
  24. Congrats on the hawg
