  1. no need to replace the hooks on the xr50, they're plenty sharp enough. check out this thread... http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1214137095 if you need proof. that WAS my favorite rattle trap, now it's a key chain.
  2. man, that first one's a hawg! and the markings on the second one are amazing, some of the most distinct i've seen yet. very nice! 8-)
  3. great idea!
  4. ^ roots for the best team in baseball!
  5. seems like the general forum always has a bunch of "new guy here!" posts on the first page, how about putting them all in one place and having a specific section for newbies to introduce themselves?
  6. ^ pretty d**n good with a dremel!
  7. i mainly use my 6'6" MF fenwick eagle gt/pflueger president spinning setup for tubes, soft plastics, jerk baits and drop shotting. i also bring along my 6'9" MHF fenwick elite tech pitchin stik/revo sx for throwing hair jigs.
  8. i watched a show yesterday on a girl born in india with 8 limbs. THAT was wierd...
  9. i would say that a 6'6" MH rod is too light to be throwing most swimbaits on. anything that has significant weight, 1oz or more, will most definitely be above the lure rating for the rod and will result in a broken rod tip (just ask LBH!). even the mattlures baby bass series weigh in around 1.3oz, and they're only 5" baits. like wisturkeyhunter said, stick to baits that are within your rods lure rating and you should be fine. not saying you CAN'T throw smaller swimbaits on your setup, you'd just be pushing the limits of your rod and might end up having to buy a new anyways. i just picked up a 7'6" H okuma guide series swimbait rod and i've got it paired with a shimano cardiff 301A. the rod has a lure rating of 1-5oz and it throws the mattlures baby bass easily. i've only thrown the setup on one trip so far but it feels great. the rod retails new for $110 and the reel goes for $100, but if you search around i'm sure you could find a good used setup for much cheaper than that. good luck! 8-)
  10. 4/0 EWG for 5" trick sticks, 5/0 for the 7" sticks. don't really fish wacky style, mostly weightless texas rigged but i'll throw a 1/8 or 3/16 oz bullet weight on once in a while, if i feel the situation calls for one.
  11. x2, i love my revo sx (lefty, of course!)
  12. i was thinkin the same thing! "cross rock, so you never rose you rucky fishin rure!"
  13. dude, i really thought this was gonna be a "how i broke my THIRD swimbait rod..." thread!!! ;D
  14. maybe some hair jigs and jerkbaits?
  15. nice fish man! i got my mattlures swimbaits in this week and am heading out early this morning to give em a go, i hope i have the same results you did, cept i'm hopin for a big smallie!
  16. from everything i've seen and heard the MS slammer/X2 slammer's are absolutely killer wakebaits. i haven't thrown one but LBH made me a believer when he smashed out a 6, 5 1/2, and 3 1/2 all within an hour walking a 'ghetto special' slammer early morning. i've been wanting to get my hands on one but still can't justify spending $40 on one bait, guess i'll keep searchin the classifieds in hopes one will pop up (and NOT get snaked by speedbead... you dirty rotten...! ;D)
  17. yup, cuz if i'd a seen it here i wouldn't have posted it. i'm sorry, i guess? didn't mean to offend by double posting something...
  18. found this on another forum and got a good laugh out of it. enjoy... http://www.break.com/index/wife-will-never-touch-a-gun-again.html

  24. oh man, don't even get me started on late night snacks.... cocoa krispies, cookies n creme pop tarts (toasted with a TALL glass of cold milk), white castle burgers, taquitos, french bread pizzas, it's aaaaaaall good...
