  1. Awful quite around here. I saw that Jerry gave Wade the dreaded vote of confidence after the game. Guess Camp Cupcake was not the way to go.
  2. I repeat...check the fuel lines. If they are older and he has been running the ethanol mix you need to take a close look at them. they can come apart, the particles can get into the fuel sustem. If you starve the cylinders we all know what's next. It ain't pretty.
  3. The joy will be gone the first time he gets on the water if he does not follow the advise. Sometimes you get lucky, but i suggest he carry a tow rope if he fails to follow the rules. It will be the most important piece of equipment on the boat. I'm speaking from experience. I made all of those mistakes at one time or other.
  4. You are a long way from being ready to buy/trade for this boat. You need to be sure what the heck you are buying. Not something or other. Motor: Injected? Need to get the motor checked out by a certified mechanic. It could have tons of issues. Compression Should not vary over 10% Carbs Will probably need rebuilt if they have not been Electrical Harness can/do rot over time Wiring harness Lower unit for wear and/or leaks Pull the plug and check for shavings and color Tilt/Trim check for leaks and hesitation Steering Cables Is the motor hard to turn from side to side? Boat: Transom check for rot Stringers Check for rot Flooring check for weak spots especially around drains Wiring Hull check for cracks and repairs Trailer: Check the welds Fenders for rot Lighting Runners for rot Axles Look at tires for uneven wear Hubs Pull the caps and look for water, jack up and check for play Springs and spring hangers does the boat sit level/ check the welds around the hangers Tongue Tires Are they weather rotted? does it come with a spare? winch Is the strap in good condition, and does it lock each way? Jack Does it work properly and lock securely in each location? Accessories: Batteries How old? Check for weak or dead cells Trolling Motor How old? All speeds work? Electronics Do they work properly? Props Any slippage? Is it the correct prop? Dings and repair marks? Chargers fuel lines Have they been updated for the ethanol fuel? Water seperator Does it have one? Paperwork Are the titles clear and in proper order? It's a never ending list. I know I overstated this, but, if you are not aware and don't get professional help checking out the boat you deserve what you get. Spend the money to get it checked. Run it on the water, not in the driveway. I run one of these older motors. i just spent over five grand going through it. mine has been a great motor and it loves RPMs and fuel. Good luck.
  5. Spiderwire braid is kinda like the Stren of flourocarbon. Get you some decent braid, wet it before tying up the knot and you should be fine.
  6. First I've heard of them. Where can we get them?
  7. I hate the binders, to cumbersome. I leave them in original bag , store them on peg boards in the garage, and then grab the ones i want, throw them in a plastic Kroger grocery bag, and throw them in the boat. Just takes a glance at the peg board to see what needs to be replaced. It works for me.
  8. Still falling, be extremely careful at the south entrance of the long cut and around the north end and while running the west side of the black forrest area. Fish are set up on the main lake and secondary points, off the grass(Of course), and starting to see a little more schooling activity out off the points and over the outer creeks. Wacky worms Baby brush-hogs Big worms Mid-size crankbaits Traps are catching a few Best colors for plastic have been watermellon/red, Tequila/green, PB&J Crankbait colors are gold/black back, chartruse/blue back, and most any shad color Caught some fish on the Trixie series worm in hot tomato color. They definitely showed a preference for this color the last couple of outings. Hope this helps if you are going out.
  9. Glenn, you must have it fixed. Everything back to normal around here. Thanks
  10. Snow Ski Surfing Reading (Book a week) Travel Target shooting
  11. not here. took 35 seconds after I hit the login button for the site to open.
  12. This is the only site I am having problems with. Started last night. Very slow and the back arrow refuses to work. Have to shut down and reenter to move around. Anyone else experiencing this or is it just me. ***Took 11 seconds to post this after I hit the button.*** Thanks
  13. Heck Mike, you and I(Mostly you) look like a band of gypsies going down the road. It's no wonder they give us plenty of room. You might want to consider doing away with the shag carpet window shades(And your choice of music).
  14. Yep, it sucks. They crowd you and then when i stop at a redlight I watch the vehicle coming up behind me to stop. I grit my teeth as they always seem to stop a foot or two from the boat. I try to leave me enough room so I can creep up as they bear down on me. I just hate it.
  15. We were all over this last month. See what you missed by not being here.
  16. My plastics are on a peg board. Takes a glance to see what needs purchasing. Crankbaits are seperated by depth in Plano boxes. Just a glance and you know. I keep notes while on the water, if i see i'm low on an item it goes on the list. Exceptions are the lucky Craft lures. They stay together reguardless of depth or type. I know without looking what is in each box.
  17. Glad you figured them out. when they start a move you just have to keep moving and trying different things to figure them out. follow the bait.
  18. NOT! If y'all look real close it's a sandy ridge in a sandy red clay area, more wood than grass grows on it. Jack you should have that marked in your GPS, notice the two cypress trees, remember the wacky worm tossed up near the one on the left if I remember right. Y'all had better start studying the next two contour lines out from the "150" line and try to figure where the bass will relocate as the water level drops. I already have I have it. I punched it in right after I released the fish
  19. Hell, i'd fight my wife for that kind of money.
  20. Did have snow that winter but no it aint snow but you caught a 6 or 7 #er there That's where i caught the good fish when we were to together? Heck i'm coming to take pics.
  21. It is if you have the knowledge to work through the electrical pieces involved in repairing. You will need the testing equipment to check it out also. Try to locate a repair facility near you and go by and have it diagnosed. Good luck
  22. Deb, luck will not play into it. With your knowledge, ability, and preparation you will do well. Go tear them up. Glad to hear your dad is doing better. Jack
