Buying first boat.....tell me about this deal.
I fish out of a Skeeter and it is a lot older than that one. They are great boats. you should be well pleased. Good luck.

What would you guys suggest???
The best way is to join a club and fish as a nonboater to see. Your age is a problem. most clubs are not going to let you join until 18. Check some of the local clubs out to get an idea though. Good luck.

Any advertizing material can and should be paid by the company, not you. The best way to approach a mom and pop tackle shop is to be a regular visitor buying tackle and possibly giving fishing info on a weekly basis they can post or distribute to there customer base. Let them know what colors are working so they can keep them stocked. The more time you spend with them the better. I'll say one thing, you seem to have the desire and the willingness to learn and makle something work. Good luck. Good luck.

The first thing I would do is pull up all the information you can concerning the collegiate fishing programs that are up and running across the nation. It is blowing up. Armed with the info I would approach the dean of your graduate studies and speak with him. Check around some of the biology areas to see if your school offers any courses( I am sure they do) concerning degrees in fish behavior or management. I bet you find several professors that work for the college that do fish and enjoy the outdoors. It will take some research on your part, but, if you search you will find some interest. List it in the school newspaper to see what kind of interest you will have. Carry that with you also. Good luck.

I would approach any one of your professers and ask them. I'm sure they can tell you. You might have to do the first semester for free, however, if the interest is there it could well work into a subject the the university would consider offering. That would carry a per semester charge and you could apply for the position. I bet they will be suprised at the interest you stir up. Good luck and if it works, let me know and I will give you a letter of introduction for the companies I am on a first name basis with.l

Iran's Missles
That entirely depends on what type of warhead was on the missle they fired. If it's the wrong type, PFFT..they will be history.

Catt-how do you describe these bodies of water?
I will give you some help on Rayburn as Catt and Matt have both covered Toledo. Rayburn is a very clear water lake except in the winter and spring. Lots of grass and that is where 90% of the fishermen concentrate their efforts. I use 15# Big Game for all of my mono fishing and 65# Suffix braid when I am fishing a jig in the grass. This time of year the better fish will be out on the deeper points, humps, ridges, and ledges with grass on them. That being said do not forget the areas with shallow grass loacated in the larger pockets. Lots of large fish taken fishing with frogs. As far as weights go Catt covered it well with one exception. I will fish jigs 3/4-1 1/4 oz. depending on the thickness of the matt. I spend most of my time on the lake just above the 147 bridge down to the five fingers area. Some well known areas are Veach Basin, Black Forest(West side), Indian creek, Julie creek, Mud Creek, Bird Island, Harvey Creek, The canyons area, Caney Creek(Great grass), and Coleman bay. The west side of the Black Forrest has many creeks, drains, and humps covered in grass that is very good, however, it does get a lot of pressure. Best ramps to launch are: North area: Monterrey Park Cassel-Boykin Jackson Hill Mid-Lake: Caney Creek South end: Sandy Creek Powell Park Ayish Bayou area: San Augustine Park Mill Creek Rayburn lies on a Northwest to Southeast plain, therefore a hard northwest or southeast wind really makes boating dangerous. There are many other ramps available around the lake to allow you to launch and give you access to many areas without having to fight the 4-6 ft. rollers the lake is famous for. The city of Jasper has built the Humphrey Pavillion down on the East side of the dam where most large tournaments are weighed in. It is a stout run over several miles of open water to reach most of the better fishing areas. I would not advise it if you are planning on fishing up Ayish Bayou or the mid lake areas I discussed.

Another thought. Why not approach the university about conducting a class on bass fishing. Offer to do it for free in your spare time. If they agree and it is successful. Start your approach toward the companies to help secure items for your class. They should be more receptive. After you have built a relationship doing this you will have a huge foot in the door to ask for future deals. Welcome to the forum.

Standardizing Fish Hooks
I think it would be great. I tend to stick with Mustad, but when I do buy others there is a difference among most.

Re: My Bass Career
Mega, congratulations on the above response. Shows you may have an open mind after all. Everyone is trying to help you. Spellcheck is a very easy function to use. Remember, it is what you can do for a company that matters. That, and nothing else. The best of luck to you in your future business, fishing, and life choices.

18' Stratos for $2000?
Of course it is as long as the motor is ok. It did not say a word about how it runs. If you are interested take it on the water for a run. As always check out the titles before passing any money from hand to hand. Check out the transom and the floor. If they are solid it is well worth the money. You could fish it a long time and get your money back years down the road. 2,000 is cheap for a glas boat with a 115 on it. As long as it checks out.

flipping and pitching details
If you practice in your yard and you fish out of a boat, it is important that you elevate yourself the required height while practicing in your yard. If not you will have problems when you get on the water with the foot or so height difference. Increase the weight to 3/8 or 1/2 oz. and see if that helps. Also you can do a manuel adjustment on your reel's braking system to help while you adjust.
