  1. First, Welcome to the forum Take the unit off of automatic Turn the fish ID off Check the depth settings. You may have them off The unit should read perfectly reguardless of water color. If you still have problems, let me know and I will work with you to get it straight If the positive and negative wires are attached to the TM battery, disconnect them and hook to the cranking battery Let me know.
  2. Hopkins 3/4 oz spoon with a lite wire treble hook Jig and craw worm trailer DD-22 Crankbait C-Rig with at least a 4' leader.
  3. I try to match the lure to the color of the bottom or surrounding vegation. If it is a sandy bottom I will start with a lure that is close to the sand color or a pumpkin. If there is a lot of vegation I will start with a watermellon and go from there.
  4. Depending on the brand. Either a medium or a large.
  5. I wish they would leave Texas alone.
  6. I have several friends that have them. they seem to be pleased with them. Good luck.
  7. Bass Cats are one of the top of the line boats. You will certainly turn some heads on the water. Congradulations.
  8. Every time I hit the water. It is a great way to prepare yourself. I believe the mental part of it is the most important part of any tournament fisherman's preparation..
  9. Must have had a fever...
  10. Nice fish. Congratulations. FYI, I have never seen any company offer to sell poles. They are rods. LOL.
  11. I always fish for the larger ones. I am on a quest for the dollars though.
  12. Check craigslist too. A lower unit for a motor like that can probably be purchased for less than a grand if you will look around. It is possible that not all of the bearings are lost in the one you have. Only way to know is to check it out. Good luck.
  13. I have about a dozen that I have drilled and filled with glue to quiten them down. I've seen it make a huge difference when everyone else is throwing the standard ones. You can follow someone down a grass line and get your arn dislocated when everyone else is strikeing out.
  14. I'm sure the family is very grateful even if it had been a magnun Zara Spook.
  15. I lived in Alabama (ROLL TIDE) 13 years and my wife is from Leeds. I guess I helped keep the ratio down somewhat. I am 6'0", and weigh 175 She is 5'4" and 120. Go figure
  16. x2 - been a mac user for over 4 years with no virus/spyware/malware problems with no antivirus software. Can't say the same for my work PC. You just may be living on borrowed time.
  17. The first thing you need to do is make friends with CATT in Lake Charles. Then concentrate on Toledo Bend. By concentrate, I mean you need to make sure you stop in Lake Charles every trip and pick up or highjack CATT on the way to the lake. That should be the number one objective.
  18. Nice rod and reel. Is that your bed it is laying on? Down here we normally don't sleep with ours. LOL
  19. If you are within the legal limit I will be the first to say congratulations. I personally have not kept a fish in over thirty years, but you have every right to clean and fry each and every one of them. Good pictures FYI, I know a few lakes that would be in a lot better shap if more anglers would keep a few now and then. It is good for a lake to have a harvest. I agree that you will probably get hammered for the dead fish, however, I hope you do not. Pull the cinch strap tight and hang on. Welcome to the forum also.
  20. Heck I never even seen any baits that look like that. I bet they would be good on highly pressured fish though.
  21. Prefished two days years ago on Lale of the Pines up in North East Texas prefishing for a tournament. Not one pickup and was on the water daylight until dark. First morning of the tournament just more of the same. Tried everything and everywhere, nothing...Finally caught two keeper fish the second day of the tournament that may have weighed three pounds together. So I went three full days without a bite of any kind. The weather was below freezing all four days and the highest the temperture ever got was 28*. Lows at night down into the mid to lower teens. Cannot blame the weather though. There were several good stringers weighed in. Fished a tournament back in the late 70s on Logan Martin Lake east of Birmingham, Alabama. There were over 50 boats and it rained, sleeted, and snowed most of the day. ONE fish was weighed in by everyone and they had to use tractors to bring the boat trailers down the ramp to load due to the covering of sleet on the ramp. I did not catch that fish either. I have had my share of miserable days on the water, most my on doing. It's the great days that keep you going back.
  22. Thanks for the good report. Usually we only hear the horror stories. I have never dealt with them, but I may after reading this. Thanks
  23. Must be something in the water, mine weighs the same.
