  1. I love it when we get a younger/new jig fisherman
  2. If you mount the transducer inside the boat make sure you use the correct two part epoxy are you will still have problems
  3. I have a friend that has purchased a mid 80s Skeeter that needs a shot of clear coat. Any suggestions where to go for preparations and what type of coating to spray on the boat? thanks.
  4. I also agree. Boat is too light for the trailer setup.
  5. Iisten to your parents. If you still want to fish see if your school has a bass team. Join it as a nonboater. Finish school reguardless. It will all be waiting for you when you are done.
  6. There are lots of us on here we are just smart enough not to try to fix them. Good luck
  7. A compression test checks the condition of the cylinders in the motor. You better have one and have a shop check it out. there could be lots of problems(and there are going to be) on a boat this old. the carbs are probably going to need overhauled if the block is ok. That's about 500.00. The trailer will need work(lights, hubs, and tires). As far as the boat goes, this model had a lot of wood(runners, transom, flooring). I have seen them actually vaccum the runners out of the boat when the cap was removed. Price to fix will be as follows. Transom about 4,500.00, runners 2,500.00 floor just depends how much you want to replace when you pull the cap. If you decide to just replace the flooring make sure it is the same height in the boat or you will not be able to put the cap back on the boat.

  9. Here's a trick to get the backlash out. Before you start pulling on the line put your thumb on the spool and apply some pressure. Nine times out of ten you will be able to spool the backlash off without having to pick it out. Another suggestion is to change the line after a day of backlashes. It kinks the line and will cause additional backlashes. I keep a backing on all of my baitcasters and change the line after each day of fishing.
  10. Let me know what you lost and I will make a donation to start a replacement package. I got way more that I will ever use. Let me know!!!
  11. Tim Tucker, Greg Hackney, KVD, Jay Yelas, Ray Scott(I am sure this will cause a ruckus but he is responsible for starting it all).
  12. Same thing happened to me fishing a tournament on Toledo Bend two weeks ago. I had a grass bed point that I was catching a few fish on and this idiot pulled right up on me. instead of causing a scene I invited him to the spot cranked up the big motor and gassed it. No idea if he stayed there or not. Just felt good to do it. Went and found enough fish to finish second. He actually did me a favor as the next spot had a better quality of fish and I would have never fished it if it hadnot been for this idiot. Go figure.
  13. FUN, It is crazy. I bet you were more than a little tight about 11:00 last night. Nov. 3, will be fun. It would have been more fun if the first game had been in Baton Rouge. Anyway well see who laughs last. Bama's got a week off to work on it. Roll Tide

I guess I qualify. Last 36 months I have had 5 neck surgeries, 1 rt. shoulder, and a diagnosis three weeks ago with cervical dystonia. The dystonia originates in the brain ganglia that causes MS and Parkinsons but is treatable. I am still fishing one to three days a week. I am 6'0" and weigh 170. Lost 38 pounds during the last three years. I do not intend to let this hamper me and intend to continue my life for the forseeable future. I forgot I am 58 . My doctors have told me that the fishing has probably done more to help me than most of the medicine and surgeries. You must stay active and have an interest in anything to keep your spirits up. I still fish our 12 club tournaments each year along with any qualifying championship tournaments. I still fish 6-8 other tournaments each year, just cut back on the long distance traveling. I fish every weekend and usually several days during some weeks.
  15. How about that Saban and his crew. ROLL TIDE!!! 41-17
  16. Jig, jig, jig, creek, creek, creek, grass, grass, grass...Period
  17. If you get really bored just get down to Texas. Winter is our favorite time. The bites may taper off some but the quality goes way up. Some of our south Texas lakes began the spawn in January(Falcon and Amistad). It's a great time to fish. You have an open invitation if you like. I am not limited on the days I can fish. Normally fish about 80-100 days each year. I have fished two days this week and plan this afternoon and Sunday. It sucks, but someone has to do it. Should have been out a little more.
  18. I suppose you allready know that you cannot mount that reel seat until you determine where the spine is on the rod. You will ruin a good blank if not. PM me if you are not sure and I will let you know how to do it. No rod is alike.
  19. I have broken the last foot cable on any TM. I run a Rip Tide straight 24V hand operated on the bow of my boat with a big foot button. Stops all problems.
  20. I have three hummingbirds and a Garmin GPS. I will not go back to the Lowarance.
  21. My tournament partner has a 20ft Pro Gator with a 200 merc on it. I have fished it a lot and I would buy one if I needed another. Very dry ride.
  22. Try a drop shot rig on the points and creek drops. You can move deeper or shallow as the day progresses. I would start with my worm about two feet above the weight and make your adjustments as the fish dictate. I was supprised that none of the above post mentioned this. I was under the impression that most of you northern fishermen fished the drop shot. We do in the south. Our water temps can get into the low 40's at times and we still catch fish. Fish right up to ice over and just slow down.
  23. If the creeks have the shad in them you need to follow the bait. Weather conditions will dictate where the bass will be and whether they will chase a bait. I would start fishing the points at the mouth of the creeks and work back paying paticular attention to the secondary points. Also, the creeks will be different. It resembles the spawn in the southwest where the northern part of the lake(creeks) are usually ahead of the southern sections as too the patterns at certain times of the year. If you think the fish are moving back you will need to fish a lot of different creeks. Water clarity, depth, bait in each creek will make a lot of difference. I have fished as many as 8-10 creeks in a day finding fish in only 1 or two at times. It should be fairly easy to develope a pattern if you will pay attention to the characteristics of each area you are searching. Bright days the fish will tend to have a small strike zone and generally be tight to cover. Cloudy days can be tough as the fish tend to scatter; however, many anglers tend to catch more fish at this time due to their fishing patterns of throwing fast moving baits(rattletraps, spinnerbaits, crankbaits, etc., and covering a lot of water). We have alot of topped out grass down here and like the bright days as this moves the better fish up under the grass where we can punch through it with a heavy jig or worm.
  24. I hate shopping. I hate even more hidding some of the stuff from my wife. She use to count my rods, but she finally gave up.
