  1. Upgrade rod and line A tug on the line won't do it Snap hook set Sharpen hooks even if they are new
  2. If they squeak they're gonna catch a few fish. Personally unless the lake is blown up I like them a little quieter. Those loud ones give me a headache. Just my preference.
  3. The secret: Weekdays Unfortunately, the lake is 3 hours one way from my house. The resort catered to large corporate, weekend outings. Many lake locals got their guide licenses just to accommodate the 2 resorts there that specialized in those corporate weekends. It was an easy $100-200 for 4-8 hours work. Most of the clientele would need a 1/2 hour primer on how to cast a Zebco 33 if you get my drift. How well I know. I've had a license for years and refuse to let it go. I have not had a paying customer in the boat in years and I hope I never have to resort to it to make a living. I do have a story about a customer's wife and no top, but I don't think I'll post it up here.
  4. Very nice fish. Remember, not everyone on this site enjoys fishing where there are tons of larger fish. Congratulations.
  5. I can't believe what I just read in this thread. Some of you are just clueless. Take the boats and all tackle Take the vehicles used to haul the boats Give them jail time Revoke all hunting and fishing license in home states. These guys should never have the opportunity to ever enjoy the fishing and hunting privileges that we all try to protect. Personally I hope they don't see home for a long while.
  6. Not necessarily the shell beds. You will usually find fish when you run across a difference in bottom contour. It can be a change like that or even a change from one weed type to another, timber change, or even a change in rock formations and size. Gives them an alley or route to travel. Sorta like we do with our highways.
  7. Years ago i would always have a jig on, but never had the confidence to stick with them. Always put it down after a few cast to go back to something else. Leave everything at home and take the jigs and whatever trailer you like to the lake. When you have no other choice you will learn to fish it. That's the way I learned.
  8. Depends on what the fish want. I used to fish them a lot and caught a lot of fish with them. Just kinda got away from them for some reason, but they caught fish for me.
  9. The secret: Weekdays
  10. Stick bait: Rogue type Senko: Plastic
  11. Lunker lure in 1/4, and 3/8 oz. with a black head and skirt. Depending on the cloud cover, water color, moon phase, and wave action whether it is a gold or silver blade. Fun fish no trailer. Tournament fishing always a trailer hook.
  12. I use it. More to hide the oders on my hands than to attract a fish though. I use the lure to attract the fish and the Mega Strike to make sure thery hold it long enough for me to get a hook in them.
  13. You need a license here in Texas. You will need to check your state regulations to be sure. Check the following: License requirement Insurance requirement Local lake/city regulations Try to advertise not only catching fish but teaching the younger crowd. Run a class on techniques as well as learning to operate electronics. Something to set you apart from the others. Repeat business will be the backbone of your success. It's not all about catching fish either. Some will be happy to just take a boat ride and enjoy the day on the lake. Others, well, lets just say you will learn quickly. Have a bottle of whiskey hidden near the lake. You will need it after a day on the water with a few of your future bookings. Don't ask me how I learned that. Good luck!
  14. Yes, if my back gets better. Having an MRI this week. Hopefully then we can do the injections. It flared up on me while I was in Alabama last week. Sucks!
  15. Welcome. Leave some birds for the rest of us if possible.
  16. Not bad, won three club events and largest bass is 8.11. Placed third in a "T" on Conroe and 2nd in another on Palestine. Bombed in a few too, but that's fishing.
  17. Great fish. Was it live released? They are out there, someone just needs to go catch them.
  18. This just sucks. I hope they throw the book at them. a little jail time will do them good. Someone else can enjoy the use of their rigs as far as I'm concerned.
  19. X2, and if you stir it to mix it do it slowly to keep from adding air bubbles to it.
  20. Spouse is considered a member in our club. She can pay and fish any time(Children too; however, they do not have to pay and cannot win money). Guest is allowed to fish one tournament a year with a member, pay the entry, and qualify to win.
  21. LMAO! They will also relax if you break their back.
  22. Never, ever been fined for a wildlife or water violation. Not going to start now.
  23. Might want to take the time to read up on the program...If you want changes run for the board, but you may want to familiarize yourself with it before your campaign starts..Would help when you are asked to explain your views.
