  1. It all starts between your ears. I know a lot of people that would not be safe in a 22 footer in a 500 acre lake. Pick your days, watch the weather, other boaters, don't overload, don't drink while out, and you will be fine. Good luck
  2. I'm ready, just going to be on the lake to the left. Water temp is up a few, so the fish should be on the move.
  3. Most of the lakes where you live have lots of grass. Try the braid with your traps when fishing around the grass. It makes a huge difference. You can rip the lure out of the grass without the strech that mono gives you. Lots of strikes when you do this. I keep one trap tied to braid year round. Try it out on Lake Tyler and see how you like it. That's an awsome lake BTW. Good luck
  4. I intend to try myself if they ever turn it loose.
  5. Navionics probably has them. they offer paper(Waterproof) for a ton of lakes. As close as you are, just drive over there and pick one up from any marina. Go to: www.navionics.com to check it out.
  6. You might try a product called tuffskin. We use to use it playing high school and college baseball. works to keep blisters in check around the feet and ankles.

Yup, I let mine get way up there to. glad to see I have a little more operating room.
  8. well Matt, don't hold your breath. It will be by a lottery system and care to guess who will be allowed to sign up. We have as much chance as before to get on the water. FYI, it wasn't actually closed(Except to public fishing), if you had the connections you could fish it. It was just a public lake closed to the public. Special employees and dignitaries had the chance to fish it. It was a perk for the higher ups and their friends. Jack
  9. Tin, i totally agree with you. Some of the prostaff deals are nothing but a chance to sell their product. If you wait for the spring sales you often receive a deeper discount on the merchandise that the original prostaff deal offers.
  10. I am up every hour or so and finally just get up if it's 3:00am or later. Just cannot get it together. Gotta down that first 20oz diet coke to get my heart to pumping.
  11. Running on the pad one day with my partner for the day. down the left(West) side of the Black forrest I had my head down due to the freezing weather. Moved a little too far to the right and ran aground. Realized my error, but it was too late. Stuck the boat. I stayed in the floor, but my partner ended up out over the bow in the mud. We gathered everything and fished the rest of the day with a mud soaked partner. Sad looking fisherman, but unhurt.
  12. O yea Catt, I have plenty. just lucky that no one has ever been injured by my actions. i'll figure out several and post them up in a bit.
  13. Thankfully i have never hurt anyone.
  14. Leftovers from a good time.
  15. Congratulations Ronnie, the best to the both of you.
  16. if you are invited or drawn as my partner my boat will always have a rod locker with room and compartments to put your tackle and rain gear. The cooler always has room for your drinks and eats. That's just the way it is. I hate a cluttered boat.
  17. All my casting rods are MH and above, and all my hooks are 4/0 and above. If I feel the need to go lighter it is with a spinning setup. That rod is just too light for the stuff I fish. Good luck.
  18. Tungsten 1-1 1/2oz. I don't always peg them either. I prefer the weight to go to the bottom and them force the lure down through the cover. you would be surprised the bites as the lure breaks through and hangs there before it follows the weight to the bottom. Works both ways, just at times a reaction bite requires the weight to be pegged. I let the fish tell me which one they like on a given day. Try it some time.
  19. 5 Allstars with Revo STX 7.1:1 4 Castaways with Revo SX & STX 6.4:1 & 7.1:1 3 Falcons with several different reels on them 3 G Loomis with Pflueger Patriarch 7.1:1 Depends on the time of year and lake as to what goes in the boat Others litter the garage that never see water anymore.
  20. I retie without using the clips or snaps. nothing wrong with them, i just prefer to tie directly to the o-ring. JMO.
  21. Going up to Rayburn friday. Got a "T" saturday. Will let you know how I do.
  22. Bass-N-bucks fished Rayburn sunday 30 miles from there. 21.65 won it. Out of 147 boats, 65 zero'd. Second was a half pound behind, then it fell to 15 lbs. It's still tough out there, but they are beginning to show. Just thought I would post this for comparison. didn't want to hijack. Jack
  23. your auto insurance follows the vehicle in this case. You would have coverage through your auto coverage, if you carry it.
  24. Been is several. That happens when you work in the largest bar just off campus. Sucker punch that took ten stitches to close the wound over my right eye, but he did not knock me off my feet. Went to the E/R, got stictched up, and went right back to work. All those little stars and designs you see in the funny papers actually live out there. I saw them all. The Houston Oilers held their preseason workouts in Nacogdoches on the Stephen F. Austin University campus one year and they all hung out in the club at night. The quarterback was well on his way one night just spoiling for a fight. I am not going to mention his name, but he ran drag cars after he left the NFL. The owner came up to me and told me to get him out of the club. I went up to him and told him he could whip my A** right there in the pool room or do it outside, but either way he had to go. He stared at me for a moment, layed the broken cue stick on the table, said "This place sucks anyway", and walked out the front door. He was back the next night and never caused another problem.
  25. A lucky bite is all you need. Go for it and enjoy the experience.
