  1. I really like the Lake Fork Tackle 7 1/2" ring worm. Been fishing it for the last year and it has become my favorite worm for the texas rig. Hard to find qualitiy worms with the rings on them. I prefer the Camo and the watermellon/red.
  2. Now I know the reasoning behind some of the post from several members(You know who you are) here. If you are having thoughts of going both ways just own up to it. It's evident in some of your post. Guess now we will have to cut you some slack, as the problem is not all of your own doing. The EPA and other groups have long bent to political pressure to look the other way when it comes to our water. I've said it before, if you think the price of oil is expensive just wait, the price of water will make it look like a joke down the road.
  3. I hate to see you make a decision with "Cheap" baitcasters. Get the best you can afford and remember there is nothing wrong with buying a high end reel second hand. Plenty of good ones out there. Cheap reels are just that. You may decide you do not like a baitcaster when the real problem was the reel and not your ability. If you have to, try to borrow a good one from a buddy. It's well worth the effort to get comfortable with one. Good luck.
  4. If you have not, go to: mapper.acme.com Zoom in close and check out the detail on some of your lakes. My lakes have a lot of lines not shown on maps. You can do a flyover with this map also. Jack
  5. No problem Catt. I have it filled. Just take care of the home life and be ready to hit the big pond just as soon as I finish up the next two weekends. Jack
  6. I fish bait casters exclusively. To fish the lighter lines I use quality gear. Drop Shotting is done with a Curado E7 with 8# test. I fish this on an Allstar 7' Medium, fast tip, Speckled Trout Rod. It has enough backbone and is forgiving enough that I don't break off when setting the hook. I'll be the first to admit it's not for everyone, but it works for me.
  7. Revos (S, Sx, & STX) Curados The last thing I want to do is help them pull out a bird's nest. Just takes away from the good time. If you give them junk, it just ruins it for the both of you.
  8. You will be fine. With or without trailer brakes leave yourself plenty of stopping room. Stay out of tight spots and you will have no problems.
  9. Lake Fork Tackle ring worm (7 & 1/2), (In Camo or Watermellon/red) Mustad EWG 5/0
  10. Yep, and it gets harder every year.
  11. BPS for me. We have one 20 minutes from the house and 40 minutes away. I buy some stuff from Academy, but lately (Since they push the H2O line) they have cut back on their selection. Our Walmarts have very little. Cabelas is just not a good choice due to pricing, but we have several within 20 miles. No Dicks here, but visited one in Arlington and they were very limited on fishing supplies. Very disapointed as I had heard lots of good things about them.
  12. Educated thumb. It comes from time(Years) on the water.
  13. That "Nothing" feeling you just get, and then the line moves off. Usually a very good fish.
  14. No they are not smart, and lately I'm questioning myself.
  15. Insurance agent...When I feel like working. LOL.
  16. I bet we do! We've all been subjected to a Walmart. The dang things are everywhere.
  17. Thank God. I've had all of this hot, dry summer I want. Bring it on.
  18. Yep, sorry to here that. I liked his new series the Beast, but you had to stay with it or you would lose track very quickly.
  19. What a shame. It's not like that on Sam Rayburn or Toledo Bend. Not saying they are better in this area(They are Not), but the lakes being out away from the larger cities have not become a dump. It is unusual to find trash floating around the ramps or anywhere else on these lakes. I know there is some, but not like ya'll are describing.
  20. Heck I was hoping for a good story to liven up the morning.
  21. X10 on the jet ski. Prayers to all involved parties. Hopefully someone can figure out the jet ski caused everything. Maybe then we can get them banned.
  22. $1,300.00 for the entire boat. Includes the inside(Carpet to the top, top cap, and the outside(Sides) including the splashwell. If I ever get the motor finished I'll carry it back to the shop and complete the inside of the wrap. I do intend to pay him extra for the inside. Probably end up total cost of 1,500.00 or so. Still a bargain.
  23. So let me get this straight... At a reasonable 6% over a period of 120 months ($355 over 10 years), Your final payment in year 2019 you would have paid $52,600 for a $42,000 boat. I'm not knocking you because I don't know a ton of people have $42,000 in their bank account... But then again I don't know a ton of people with a $42,000 rig either. :-/ If I were to buy that 42k boat ( I've done it before) I'd like to do it no money down if I could, but given this scenario I would finance the boat at 6% then buy a hopefully safe investment like a muni for 2.5% and good chance you'll get a better rate than that. 10 years later that 32k muni has grown to 40k+, but I still have my money. Contrary to what I just said I bought my wife a new car last month and paid cash. I was STOOOPID !, given the low auto rates. If that happens to be your wife in your avatar you were smart. You'll be even smarter to do anything you can to keep her. KEEP ON SPENDING!
  24. Tuck the motor up under the hull(Trim down) and punch it. If it blows out (Or spins the hub) getting up send it to the shop and have them check it out.
