Wear your lifejacket
Thanks for the reminder. Stories like this are a solemn reminder to do what needs to be done. I will be the first to admit that I don't wear mine like I should unless it is required during tournament hours. It's a bad habit that I need to break. Jack

Suspended Bass
I suggest printing Paul's response to refer to while on the water. Suspended fish are the hardest for me to set up on.

LABOR DAY
I'm going down to the river with the video camera. Always good for a bunch of laughs later today at the ramp.

Merriman's side of the story
Time and money(Can you spell payoff?) will tell the tale. Whether we get the truth depends on the amount of money exchanged.

Miami/Florida State
Who you like? Personally, I like Bobby Bowden and hope he has a great year. Expecting a good game, hope I'm not disappointed.

How often do you fish?
Very little lately. normally I tried to fish three weekends a month and at least one day during the week. That being said I have not been on the water in the last three weeks. Motor rebuild has been the culprit. Will have it back together shortly so lot of time to fish coming up.

New Revo STX

Hydra-SPort Restore and Mod.. aka how to spend all your money and time lol
The seats look great. I just put the same seats(Same color) in my Skeeter. I did not have room for the fold down center seat but wanted it.

Ready for saturday
The wife got in from California at midnight last night and I stayed up specifically to tell her not to plan a dang thing that had me included for this Saturday. I plan on being on the couch from 10:00 am until just about midnight. It's been a long eight months.

In a slump....
Everyone has those periods. I find when it happens to me I have become lazy and it's usually due to a lack of all around attention to my Tackle, maps, pre tournament work, etc. Rededicate yourself and fish your way out of it. Good luck!

buzz bait bite!!
At times I am fishing a buzzbait as a search lure. I know the fish will just swirl at it and are not interested in eating it. When I get them to show themselves I immediately pitch a plastic right in on the swirl and 90% of the time the fish will eat it. Try it. good luck.

Fishing plastics
Depends on the type of structure I'm fishing: Scattered grass, brush, etc: Rod tip 10:00-12:00. If a fish hits at the top of the lift I reel down to about 9:00(Pointed at the fish) and set the hook. I always feel for the fish after I return my rod to the 10:00 position and then start another lift. Verticle in the grass: Just drop the rod and reel a couple of times and hit the fish without reeling all the slack. Since I'm fishing braid and have very little line out to begin with I don't worry about line strech. Carolina Rig: Usually out in the more open areas. I will drag the rod to the side at different angles. Rod position will vary from 9:00-12:00 on a horizontal plane, or possibly a 45* angle depending on the bottom structure. I generally will take up enough slack to get the rod pointed in the direction of the fish, then set the hook with a sweeping motion(Not necessaryly the point the lure entered the water), due to the fact the fish will pick up the lure and move either right or left(Or toward you if fishing a drop). The purpose of the rod movement is to move the lure. It will be hard to do that if you are fishing the rod down. I will never, ever use the reel to move a plastic. It leaves me no room for error. I never wait on the second tap. He either ate it or not. To many times it is the fish exhaling the lure. JMO. Welcome to the forum.

It's time to replace the boat seats!!!
Cabelas and BPS both sell seats from this company(WWW.boatingseats.com). BPS said they would only stock the mid range price seats and if I wanted the higher end ones I would have to order direct. I did and it took seven working days to receive them. Word is they build when the order is turned in. You can follow your order from day one and track it each day as it progresses through the build and delivery. It's actually Wise seat company. They build the OEM seats for Tracker, Nitro, Champion, and Stratos. I heard they build some for Ranger, but could not confirm that. Their seats are excellent.

Fishing Hurts!
Never heard of this. I agree with Long Mike. Treat your hands and I bet they get better.
-
Do They Still Produce???
Friend, don't believe everything you see on TV. the pros are still catching fish with the older stuff. They even get better when most everyone quits throwing them. They recycle just like clothes and hairdos. They get better with age.

Dying Weeds Affect Frog Bite?
You bet it will. I don't ever remember catching a good fish from dying weeds. They relocate quickly. Lack of oxygen is what I always thought it was from. Now if you are talking reeds along the shoreline it's a different story. When they start to lay on the surface and create somewhat of a mat it is on.

Procraft fish/ski opinions wanted.
A dual purpose boat is always lacking in either or both designs. Pick either, but try to stay away from the dual purpose rides. One side or the other will end up unhappy.

B.O.A.T. (Break out another thousand)
Well, then it's on. Will keep you posted. As I told you I am in Arlington helping my daughter with the baby for a couple of days. FYI, he is doing much better, but it was touch and go for a couple of days.

How Ticked off do you get?
Sure it's disapointing, but you just need to move on. Take solice in the fact you have figured them out well enough to get the good bite. Prepare for the next one and move on. No F-Bombs here. I just call Long Mike or Catt and rant to them.

Central open at Rayburn partner
If you are buy yourself let me know. My fishing partner lives in Zavala and I will be there the last two weekends staying with him. If you like I can contact him to see if you would be able to stay. He put four up in his home back in May for the McDonalds tournament. Two were from Virginia and we had never met either of them. They stayed a week and he would not take a dime. He has secure, covered boat storage on the property with electricty. Zavalla is on the north end and it will be about a 30 minute tow each morning to the launching area. Just let me know.
