Ode To The Texas Rigged Worm
I love fishing a Hula Popper just this way. Smooth water, cast out, let it set until the ripples are gone and then SLOWLY work it back. A bass coming out of glass smooth water to nail a topwater bait is awesome!

Lure That Catches Most Of Your Big Fish 7+ Lbs
Fine, if you want to argue it here too the original post clearly shows that he was in VA. I can't say that I care about how unusual the catch is. I'm not prepared to call him a liar with no evidence.

13 Lbs Of Bonding Time.
Just so that others don't freak out, it was actually 16.25. 16 lbs 4 ozs. 4/16 is 0.25. And 00 mod, I didn't catch it. I've never even been to VA so I doubt that I caught the state record fish there (which this is a pic of). Doesn't look all that big does it?

13 Lbs Of Bonding Time.
The Potomac record is "historic"? Dottie weighing 3 pounds more than the WORLD record bass was historic, the Potomac largemouth record is barely a footnote and it's 3 pounds less than the VA state record.

Why would you have to guess? You don't know how much a fish weighs just by looking at a pic of it?

13 Lbs Of Bonding Time.
So, question for all of you experts. How much would this one weigh? I almost put guess what this one weighs, but you're not guessing are you?

Holy crap, cross thread sniping? Really? BTW, the VA state record is 16lb 4 ozs. If you're going to try and rip someone, at least do it right.

13 Lbs Of Bonding Time.
Plus one of the main points of the thread is about bonding time fishing with his dad and all the "experts" only care about making sure that the weight that he reported is "accurate". Who freaking cares? Is it really a competition? Do you have to prove that he's a liar? Look at this fish, it weighed XX.XX!! Well who certified that catch? It's sad really. Some kid comes on here super excited about fishing with his dad while his dad caught a HUGE fish and the peanut gallery comes in and tries to tear the experience apart. Sorry, I just don't see the point in doing that.

13 Lbs Of Bonding Time.
Can't watch youtube videos (work blocks them), but what's the difference? He said he weighed the fish on multiple scales (which he then tested one) and measured the fish. So, if you disagree with him, just call him a liar and be done with it. The pictures do nothing to show the true size of the fish. It's held about as far away from the camera as you can get and the guy's hand is covering the "gut" of the fish so you can't really see how fat it is. It's also been pretty clearly shown time and again that the naysayers aren't nearly as good at guessing the fish's weight (only from a picture) as they think they are.

Look at all the internet weight experts!!! Why should anyone ever buy a scale when we can just ask the "experts" here?

Shutting Down A School
If that was the case then you would never see other fish trying to steal the bait from the fish that you've caught. Those other fish wouldn't follow the caught fish back to the boat, they'd "flee the area".

Ever Use A Bream For Bait To Catch A Big One?
They definately work. I was fishing with my kids and they like to catch whatever bites so we were small bluegill fishing. We hooked one and a bass came in and nailed it! It was awesome to see. Couldn't catch the bass cause the gill had the hook in it's mouth, but the bass killed the gill.

The Economy
If you haven't sold then you haven't lost anything. It's too difficult to pick the peaks and valleys so actively trading these big swings will likely result in a worse outcome then just not worrying about the short term changes. I'm no stock expert though so take my advice with a grain of salt.

I don't have a favorite. I have boxes stuffed with many different kinds. G-Man's jigs are the only ones that I buy.

Big Bites You Missed
I'll never forget the biggest bite that I "missed". I was fishing a Moss Boss. I was standing on the pond dam and it was three or four feet higher than the water level. The fish hit just as I was getting ready to take the lure out of the water so I only had a few feet of line out and the line was taut. Fish took it and broke the line is about a half a second. The swirl was massive!!! I think I was like 12 or 13.

The Economy
To the extent that you have taxable gains then yes you can "write them off". It's not really a write off though. You use the losses to offset the gains that you have from other stocks. The net of the gains and losses is the amount that you're taxed. If your losses are greater than your gains though you don't get to take a credit.

The Economy
If you think that the stock is going to drop further then you can sell everything you have and buy it all back, plus more, at a lower price. Better be sure that it's going to keep dropping though.

The Economy
Nope. It's the foreign profit rule. GE will set up their subsidiaries such that items made overseas by an overseas subsidiary are sold to the US subsidiary at the price that GE is going to sell the item to the customer. This results in no profits for the US sub, but the foreign subs have profits. Those profits are taxed at the foreign country's rate, typically one of the lower ones (like 10%) and those profits are kept in that subsidiary. Those profits will be taxed at the difference between the US rate and the foreign country's rate (tax already paid) when they are "brought back" to a US based company. This won't happen with US corp tax rates at 35% though.

A flat tax has to have some type of "rebate". You can not tax someone making 30K and someone making 30Mil the same. It just doesn't make any rational sense. So, the proponents of the Flat Tax have come up with a "rebate" (I think that's what they call it). It's basically a way to make the Flat Tax at least a little bit progressive. Given that, why go through the effort of figuring out what that rebate needs to be? Instead, just keep the tax brackets and modify them. I personally see no value in going to a flat tax. Now, if you want to talk about simplifying the tax code, then I'm all for that.
