  1. I bought a 2 pack of kindergarten scissors from Walmart for $1.50 or so about 5 years ago. I keep one in the boat and 1 in my tackle box. Other "specialty" cutters have come and gone (xmas presents and such)and the cheap scissors are still there working perfectly.
  2. I have 2 that I beat the crap out of on a frog rod and flipping. Big fish, massive hook sets, and winching them out the the thick crap. No complaints, great reels.
  3. I have a black max, 2 orra's and several revo's. The abu line of reels is outstanding from top to bottom.
  4. get a piece of "star board" and cut it to fill the hole on the passenger console. Is the wind shield broken also?
  5. I fish a lot of unimproved and steep ramps in the phoshate pits around here. I set the trailer with the front bunks just out of the water. Then I trim my motor almost completely out of the water and power load it. This forces the stern down and the bow up and she glides right on the trailer. One other trick is to spray silicon on the carpet and back down to wet the carpet on the bunks completely and pull out to the normal loading position. This makes the carpet very slippery.
  6. You guys really need to go fishing.
  7. um No. I'm not looking for a list of every tackle manufacturer on the planet. Only the ones who pay to advertise on this site. There were about 15 companies on a list.
  8. I always like to go through the companies that support this site and buy from them when possible. On the old version there was a page you could see all of the advertisers and links to their site. Does that kind of thing still exist? I see the icons on the main forum page for DV, JJ's, North Star, and Pinacle. I also see all of the Google adds, but I can't find the others.
  9. Gonna go out of Lake Shipp most likely about daylight.
  10. Welcome Aboard!
  11. You have not seen the crap I will throw a frog into. Most times I have to hold them pinned up against the bottom of the mat until I can get over to them. Plus 20 lb will bury into the spool on a hard hookset.
  12. I like the Megastrike Megabug in blue/black
  13. Great job guys, particularly fighting the wind.

If I clicked the + or - sign on a post I was getting a window that would pop up and say I have exceeded my limit for the day or something like that. I had only plussed a few post and that was Wednesday evening. I remember reading somewhere that we had 50+'s and 2-'S per day. I re-started my laptop and browser with no change. I went to dinner and now it seems to be working. If it does it again I will get a screen shot. Could be something I'm doing. I am still stumbling around the new set up but I like it.

I cannot vote either + or - on topics. I have not exceeded my quota since I have not been able to vote for 2 days. Anyone else having problem? My wife has been telling me my opinion does not matter for years. Maybe she is right...
  18. If you are going to catch big fish in Fl then you will be fishing in the thick stuff so you are going to need braid. I prefer MH rods 7 ft and longer, power pro in assorted weights, and high speed revo reels. I pulled the following from a post earlier this year. This is what I use, specifically. Everyone I know in Florida that catch a lot of fish have very similar setups and baits. You will develop your own favorites, but this will get you started in the right direction. https://www.bittersbaitandtackle.com/ Naked Swimmer watermellon/gold glitter,Rig with a bobber stop, 1/8 th oz bullet weight and a 3-0 EWG Superline hook on 30 lb Power Pro braid. Fish it fast just below the surface in the pads, around buggy whips or over the hydrilla. Bitters Vibe in blueberry and green pumkin Rig with same weight and hook as above on 12 lb berkley big game mono. https://www.megastri...ducts.com/shop/ mega bug black/blue claws, Rig with a bobber stop, 1 oz tunsten bullet weight and a 3-0 EWG Superline hook on 65 lb Power Pro braid. Pitch it in and around the outside edges of the hydrilla and Kissimmee grass patches and in thick pads. http://www.gambler-b...line-store.html Cane toad in Lane Toad, Rig the same as the naked swimmer above except on 65 lb braid. 10" ribbon tail worm in blue berry or junebug Rig the same as the megabug except with a 3/8 oz bullet. The only other rod you might need is a medium spooled with 12 lb big game and a 30lb snap. I use this to throw a zara spook, devils horse, rattle trap, and small square billed cranks.
  19. If you fish a couple times a year for a couple of hours, it makes no difference at all. If you spend 20 hrs a week on the water like I do, it makes a world of difference. A $25 dollar rod will catch fish. A $100 dollar rod will detect way more light bites. A $200 dollar rod lets you fish all day without fatigue setting in and causing you to miss the light bites. Any rod over $200 is probably a waste of money for me and you unless you just want one.
  20. I catch more big fish on frogs than any other single bait. I use it as a search bait during the spring and summer in Fl. Once they stop hitting the frog then I go after the leftovers with a worm. PS I have never missed a fish on a frog...they miss the frog

  22. OK, I thought this would be a fairly easy switch over. Signup on the other thread, play on this one. Evidently not. Here are the rules RULES 1. This is for FUN... 2. Any Black Bass species with a state record is eligible. You must have submitted your entry prior to midnight March 14, 2011. 3. This contest runs from daybreak on March 15th, 2011 to sunset on June 12, 2011. 4. Artificial bait ONLY. If you are sight fishing, the fish must be hooked inside the mouth. All fish must be caught in PUBLIC fishing areas. No private stocked ponds (you own the pond and are raising trophies). 5. Scoring of the fish shall be completed as follows: Example FW = fish weight = 10.5 lbs (my pb) SR = state record Fl = 17.27 lbs FW / SR x 100 = your score 10.5/17.27x100 = 60.80 rounded to 2 decimals In order for your fish to count, you must submit a picture, the state record weight for the state the fish was caught in, and an accurate weight of the fish. You can submit fish caught in different States but only your highest score counts. Your fish must be submitted within one week of being caught. (No sandbagging) You may submit as many fish as you want as long as subsequently caught fish score higher. All fish must be submitted before 7 am on June 13th, 2011. 6. Entry Fee - You must post your intention to play on this thread prior to midnight March 14th. Directors Note-----Have fun, catch fish, and post your results......
  23. My favorite is "Mario"
  24. I Only coached for one season. Loved the kids, hated the parents. I would not let my kids run on multiple errors or passed balls even though they could according to the rules. Other coaches did and it made me crazy.
  25. Spool loose and brakes set to max to start with until you get your thumb trained.
