  1. Thats me too. I find it to be very versitile. I can run it deep and shallow and I can play with the blade sizes a lot on it.
  2. Pretty much sums it up the easy way. Blade size plays a big part though.Things can get as complicated as you want them to with spinnerbaits. In other words it's very hard to run a 3/8 with large blades very deep. Same as running a 3/4 shallow that has small blades. Blades create lift and slow the bait down with the water resistance.Fish with what your comfortable with first. After you catch a few fish you can tweak your presentation to suit a wider variety of conditions, structure, cover, depth.
  3. I caught one of those a few years back on some livers.Everyone I told about it said it was a bowfin. Well duh! I know what a dogfish looks like and this wasn't one. Thanks for the clarification.
  4. As far as techniques I would say drop shot. This is a weird rig. It feels different and the bite is different than other techniques with plastics.
  5. It's a pretty good bait. I really love the extra large paddle. Only problem I got with it is that overall it is too small IMO. I cut the tail off and insert a piece from the body of a gambler flapping worm or a piece of a trick worm then mend-it back together. The action is just insane then.
  6. WTH Dave?!?! Thats great! ;D
  7. I agree big time, this should be cool. The original video game is one of my all time favorite old school games as well.
  8. OMFG! I just LOL'D ;D
  9. The one that haunts me was one I actually caught. It was by far my personal best and was caught while I was fishing alone. I had no scale and was off the beaten path a little bit and couldn't find anyone to take my picture either. I got a few crappy pictures of it laying in the boat with a cheap disposable camera, none of which turned out worth a crap and did not do the fish justice at all and some of the pictures didn't turn out at all, they were a blur. There was no way to hold the fish out with one hand and try a snapshot either. This one was a two hander,I couldn't support her weight with one fist and her mouth was too large. I know what I caught and it still excites me to this day but for others to hear about it I get treated like I'm BS'ing. It was 27 inches and 21.25 girth.Easy enough to do the math on that one to get an estimate, I measured it with two pieces of fishing line.Still though I can cut a piece of line to any length I want to and it's just another fishermans tall tail, right? :-/ :'( This one haunts me because I fear I will never ever see one that big again in my life or especially catch it.Guess I need to be more positive.
  10. Its all about vibration in dirty water and dark colors are normally preferred as is a slow presentation.Black/blue rage craw with rattles. Black/chart large single colorado blade spinnerbait. Black/blue chatterbait with gold blade. 8 inch flappin tail Gambler worm.
  11. http://www.lurenet.com/catalog.aspx?catid=Heddon%20X9750%20Vamp%20Spook I never heard of or seen this lure before. I guess this is a remake of an old school bait. I am just curious how do you fish this thing? It looks sort of like a fat floating jerkbait. Whats kind of action does it have? They are only 3.99 on Lurenet.
  12. Great looking worm no doubt. I'd love to get my hands on some as well.
  13. Amen! I sometimes think spinnerbaits are worse than crankbaits. You can never have too many with all the different weights and blade configurations. The possibilities are virtuallyy endless!
  14. Good lookin go-to styles there.
  15. Yeah, right : ;D(I figured I'd hear it sooner or later)Really though,I don't see it.It just falls and lays there like a dead chunk of plastic to me. Personally I am into baits that move a lot and or put of some sort of vibrations since I fish a lot of stained or dirty water. I hate fat Ikas for the same reasons. After hearing over and over about how great that thing is supposed to be. I can't catch a cold with those things. Must be something wrong with me again, right. I'm sure theres a whole lot of stuff I use that kills em for me but others don't like as well.
  16. I imagine that the size and type of the blade(s) would be a factor as well then add wind, then factor in whether your throwing into or with the wind. Then consider the size or type of line your using. How about the type of reel or the size and style of the spool. What about your rod? Is it a fast or moderate tip? Whats the length? How heavy is the rod? This could get complicated. Just do the best you can do with the equipment you have or find a setup that works well and is comfortable to use with your baits.
  17. Personally I don't see whats so great about them either. They have no action whatsoever in the water. Theres a billion+1 better baits to pitch or flip with. The only success I have had with them is on a c-rig,but then again what doesn't work on a c-rig?
  18. I prefer other brands of frogs especially the Ribbit. The action on this one is lacking IMO. That said, certain brands may work better for certain applications. The Yum frog for instance has a very thick and heavy body.It can cast a lot farther than most of the other frogs. The heavier body will cause more disturbance in THICK slop whereas a lighter bait won't.Like Tin said the bigger the hook the better and a 5/0 supereline or heavy wire seems to work well.
  19. #12 1/32 oz. beetle spin. This one does catch big panfish and crappie as well.
  20. I like the Gambler 8 inch flappers. The smaller 4 inch Gamblers do not compare. They are too small and don't have very much action. This is an excellent bait to throw in dirty water and at night since it puts off a good amount of thump and is one of my top baits to throw at night.Junebug and black/blue tail are my go to. In clearer water and around veggies you can't beat watermelon swam through the weeds. You can also use it on a mojo style rig( or light carolina) and use a slow steady retrieve.
  21. The baits are great, the skirts suck big style. Replace with a nifty color of your choosing.
  22. Thats just it. NO ONE knows where to get a hold of one. It also makes me wonder if this thing turned out to be a total flop or what and the maker went bankrupt or something. The company obviously doesn't respond to anybodys inquiries and they don't have any to sell in any tackle shops/sites. Sounds kinda fishy to me. Still..none the less that thing looks sick, but they always do in the promo videos :
  23. Rapala dt fat-03 is a killer bait.Comes through cover like a dream(especially if you take that goofy sure set off the front of it.) Dick's should carry them but everything is so hit and miss in that place though.
  24. Despite popular belief bass inhale their prey. I have used the hyper worm and the tail holds up well.Have had no issues with missing tails. It actually holds on better than it looks from a picture and is no less durable than any other worm tail or appendage. This worm puts off a lot of thump and if the lizard is anything like it then I'm sure it is a great bait.I've been curious to get a pack myself.
