Difference is that hooks get smaller the higher the number and bigger the lower the number 1/0 is same as -1 (negative 1) and is bigger than a size one.

A little too small of a hook IMO.I'd use a 1 or 1/0. You say weedless wacky,are you burying the hook point in the center of the worm? if so just use a light snap set with the wrists while reeling keeping steady pressure at the same time,no yankin over the shoulder. Watch your line closely as well.

As far as it picking up less slime? No you'll get more. remember though that you can control the depth a little with short casts,rod up,and longer pauses in retrieve.

x 2 I use a simple overhand knot.The weight will still slip or break off in the event it gets snagged.

I think people need to be more concerned with soft plastics ending up in the water than a few peices of lead.

They make floater versions as well (I wish they made it in the bull-ribbit). Other brands that have a floater include Sizmic,Gambler cane toad.

The absolute difference is in fishing pressure. Even when you do "trick out"your baits or modify them or throw something new altogether you will still never have that "virgin water" bite.I believe fish eventually associate flaws in your presentation,line used,sounds in the boat,sounds of the motor,strange vibrations produced from lures in general,sounds of people walking on shore,and even the way that baitfish act when people or boats are around, to danger and they tend to shut off. That said there is a reason why certain baits mentioned herein still and always will produce.They have stood the test of time and are still capable of producing even in the most pressured waters and conditions. It is discouraging when your go to's stop working but the only real solution is to cut down on your fishing and don't burn your honey holes.(yeah right : )

Sure the senkos last only 1-2 fish,(not trying to get into that discussion) but the ika is a very thick bait and will usually last much longer.You can usually just rotate it a little after a few strikes and it will NORMALLY last 3-5 fish or so. It also takes to mend-it very well.It makes them like brand new. I like the wide gap plus 4/0 Owner hook for it.It is a perfect match. Many others will say use the Gammy 4/0.I prefer the owner though,gap is wider.

First off you have to hit these areas from different angles.Sometimes depending on wind direction and sun position it can position the fish as well. You may sometimes find active fish on top of these areas in the morning or evening. If the hump,shelf,ridge,etc is large enough I would park on top of it and fan cast all the different sides using texas rigs,jigs,carolina/split shot rigs,cranks,and lipless cranks,drop shot bringing the bait up into shallower water. I say that for a couple reasons.The bass like bait that is getting cornered or trapped in shallower water and it also allows you to keep constant bottom contact while feeling for the sweet spots.if you catch one then make multiple presentations to the same spot while changing speed or even baits. These fish tend to stack up on certain sweet spots.If the fish are suspended out away from it on your graph then a good choice would be to parallel the structure while trying to maintain the desired depth.Also look for any balls of bait at certain depths and fish spots on the structure that intersect that depth. Like said though I normally go deep to shallow but I know the fish in those types of places can get real funny about which way the lures are travelling. If you can figure out which sides of these structures they are holding and which direction they prefer then you can pretty much duplicate it on all the other similar areas. Good luck fitting a 5/0 or 6/0 in those. An wide gap Gammy 3/0 comes right to the skin separating the legs and is also the perfect hook. Never had any issues with hookups and it is also the reccomended hook on the ribbit package.

Shhhhh... those don't work like that That about sums it up! I haven't noticed a big difference in the way I rig the tail except on a shakey head I like it laying flat. 8-)

All good suggestions. I like a 7/0 owner offset worm hook on them. I also wanted to add that for me it seems a very light weight with the big worms works very well and it forces you to fish it slow.

I agree, those two colors will get it done. The other exception for me at least is when I am carolina rigging. I use water melon in clearer water and junebug for stained water.

One thing I thought I'd mention about perch imitator. When I lived in Ohio I used to use tiger stripe painted willow blades as well in white or chart.If you got a skirt to match they work really excellent.
