  1. VERY COOL! 2 BAD I MISSED OUT ON THE SAMPLES :-/
  2. Only thing it got me thinking is Crappies?? Welcome to the forums M8!
  3. Did you know that one of the best ways to make a trailor on these kind of baits is to use a treble(#2?) and cut off one hook to make a double hook. Then attatch it to your 4/0-6/0 in trailer hook fashion using a small piece of tubing to secure it.After determining the correct size treble to use skin hook the two points in the rear of the frog body at the base of the legs. You now have a bait that is just as weedless and will increase hook ups to nearly 100%. Only downfall? The baits will be redendered torn and useless sooner. I have done this with Yum,Ribbit,Sizmic, and Gambler Cane with success.I'll post a picture later when I have time though.
  4. A 6 -7.5 inch ribbon tail style worm texas rigged is definately the easiest way to start. You can catch fish just about anywhere with it.Offshore structure, brush, wood weeds, drop offs, top or bottom. You can at least catch a few in any body of water even if it heavy pressure. I prefer yum ribbon tails over all else. They just flat out catch fish.I get too many bream, turtles, and catfish using that powerbait.Use 2/0 to 4/0 hook(EWG if you prefer)and almost always a 1/16 or 1/8 oz weight. You really dont need a bigger weight unless fishing deep 15ft plus or trying to penetrate weeds.Generally the slower fall rate is better, but sometimes in deeper water a fast fall can get a reaction. Real important to change your retrieve method every few casts if your in a prime location.Crawl, deadstick, short hops, high hops, slow swim, fast swim, twitch and erratic,or just mix up all the methods together. This is, in many opinions, one of the esiest way to catch LMB under a variety of conditons, cover and water type.Use light colors: watermelon seed, green pumpkin, pumpkin seed, water melon/red for clear water.Red shad and junebug my personal favs for heavy stain, and black/blue,black,blue fleck for muddy or brown water. I am kinda shocked that you said you can catch fish on jigs but not plastics. The bass scoff at any jig I toss. Its just not my confidence bait to say the least. :
  5. Got a kick out of that, thanks for sharing
  6. FUNNY you mention that buddy.I have that luck with the bleeding olive shiner.3,4,6,7,10,16 dont matter I cant keep enough of them in my box.they rarely make it back without trying to dredge the lake first. Oh and BTW I caught my #2 pb today on a chart/purple DT 7 flat today.10-9oz got some nifty self taken cell phone pictures of it,oh boy just my luck again
  7. strike king bitsy bugs and bitsy flips.I really suck at jigs, and have complained for a while now.I recently started using the 1/16 and 1/8 bitsys and have been hammering them.No lunkers but plenty of action. Those little jigs just flat out catch fish period if the optimal color is applied. Now I believe all the peeps that told me so
  8. I wasnt talkin about fishing a touney on a super high pressure lake where the fish are getting pelted with lures like hail day in and day out.A 2 lber is a blessing in those places!
  9. thats a good one ,but i've been fondly referring to them as "surfers" Also in FLA anything under 2
  10. alligators, loads of fun when your fishing topwater,NOT! plastic barrier fence trotlines grocery bags galore a small plastic christmas tree (LOL) a pipewrench tied to a rope(makeshift anchor? LOL) cormorants an old spool of line(I pulled and pulled for 20 mins trying to get all the line and finally found the spool grrrr!) a shoe NO LIE... An apparently stolen purse,no ID inside, the perps obviously didn,t check the very small inside compartment which held $250.00 whoo hoo!!
  11. Dont mind using lures that break!?!? Well to each his own I guess.
  12. I use VMC Barbarian. Wish the heck I could get a hold of some of the teflon coated kahle style hooks that come on the 2000 series rattle traps. Not to be confused with the kahle trebs'that come on the new traps, these were teflon coated and stickier than just about anything I ever seen.
  13. Hmmm used the same thing, finnesse worm and trick worm, thought I got a bad batch too.Used my first one and caught several fish, then it broke.Used the second one and it lasted about 3 or 4 fish, broke.Upon using the third one it broke the first fish.I paid top dollar for them since I got them from a little tackle shop.I am pretty dissatisfied and glad that someone else posted it too. Yes they are pretty "SCREWED UP" Picassso is much better, titanium screw, never breaks
  14. Only difference in the sure set series is color schemes and the stinger trebles.Neither the flat or regular are wide wobbling baits, they have a new DT FAT for that. It is all going to depend on whether you like the sure set hooks or not,if not then just replace them. You can get a pack of VMC or Katus for around 4.00. Search these forums for more opinions on the sure set hooks and dt series,There have been a lot of posts. I cannot at this time make a comparison to bagleys,I dont have any.
  15. thats kind of ironic because they said that the blade design is supposed to cause lift so it rides high easier. seems to me like thers not enough surface area on the blades to get it to lift. yep, exactly what it does.sure as heck wont lift like a SK tri wing,or of course the perverbial Cavitron
  16. Me and my bud actually typed up a dictionary of all of our slang terms and fishing lingo Is constantly being revised.
  17. Around here I love it! In my area its a sure sign the mommas are out....Usually.This is also coming from someone who hates the sun and loves rain, clouds, fog, and gloom LOL. Topwater time
  18. That right theres funny,I dont care who ya are. ;D
  19. X2 its not worth it.Sure it will catch fish.Downsides are price and the fact that the blade catches and excessive amount of weeds and or debris on the water.I've also had it grab the ends of branches and twigs that a normal bait(cavitron)will go right over or through.
  20. Obviously a new gimmick intended to wake the bass up on one of those cold misty mornings when it seems they are all sleeping.I like the one about the donut inserts
  21. Ya,but the fish was on there before I got snagged up,I swear! :
  22. L-O-L Moe Send them over to me LMAO Dont forget WHALE
  23. Hey buddy! Yes we on the forum fish a little bit.
  24. I been lucky so far as to not have to go through anything like some of these stories. One recent one though: Was squirrell hunting one day with a rattle trap and had a caught in a dead branch about 40 ft away.I was getting pretty ticked because that was the only one of that color I had with me and was catching fish prior. So I yanked and yanked harder.I have pretty fast reaction time, and have dodged a lot of lures in my day,but this thing had the velocity to rival the speed of sound when it came out.I was not wearing a shirt and it hit me flat in the middle of the chest and left a perfect size black and blue diamond shape pattern.Four of the hooks stuck me but not past the barb. The slap was so loud it was almost like smacking an oar flat on the water.
  25. ball caps?? hmm..does that work pretty good?
