  1. rapala and bagleys.Dont own any high end stuff(yet) but you get a good bang for your buck with these two brands and they just plain catch fish. Could maybe add bandits to the list also, they are great, but have been a little un-impressed with the quality of some of the newer ones.
  2. Every day this past week. The bass fishing has been awesome lately. The bigguns come out in winter in Florida,as long as we dont get too many nasty fronts. This winter has been exceptionally warm and average water temps being around 65 still. My condolences and sympathies to anyone who is ice in.No joke,I would go bannanas if I moved back to Ohio now.
  3. I chose other.Worst part of all for me is the wind. 14 ft john boat and a hand tiller trolling motor.Constant anchoring and one handed fishing.I even have to fight half my fish one handed as I am trying to keep the boat from running over the spot.Trying to flip and pitch with a little breeze going..huh! impossible.Doesnt make for a very fun day on the water for me if the wind is howling, but I still enjoy every minute that I am fishing.
  4. Ya Avid, and I have read in so many places that prop baits are supposed to be great baits in Florida.I couldnt catch a cold with one of those LOL.One of the last things I would tie on.
  5. Wow If I think back....I would have blisters on my fingers trying to type all of it. One simple little dumb s--t maneuver that comes to mind though: After I tie my lures on, I normally out of habit just toss them overboard to get them out of the way or to see how they look.I was preparing a brand new never used jig, combing the skirt and adding a trailer.I then tossed it overboard and then picked up my rod,no jig on the end!In my haste I forgot to even tie it on! DOH!! ;D
  6. x2 -exactly how I use them. Have no experience using jig heads or tube hooks.
  7. x2 x3 here. These things are awesome when jigged up and down in the cover.Something a little different to show the fish.
  8. Most people would have never started fishing if it wasn't for those. Ya know...you do got a point there buddy funny and true. But I still cant stand them.
  9. OMG here we go again with the tungsten vs lead war again Personally I prefer tungsten.
  10. eagle claw hooks=dull, rust easy, and for a buck more why not get a real hook like owner? booyah spinnerbaits and buzzbaits=overrated junk! bullet weights(the brand) =no a sinker isnt a sinker, those things are just plain ol junk! gulp baits=better for salwater, can anyone justify the price or durability of those things? shakespeare anything, especially the dreaded ugly stick=dont know how they can even sell them.I would personally give up fishing if my only option was an ugly stick.
  11. Another vote for the original rattle trap.
  12. To at least answer the question:I would think fishing it with a bottom weighted hook would be an excellent idea.
  13. NICE BAG PARTNER! I may try that idea. Thanks for sharing that.
  14. What do fishing and sex have in common??? YOU CAN REALLY ENJOY BOTH WITHOUT ACTUALLY BEING GOOD AT IT!
  15. So basically after reading all this you must realize that the most reasonable option would be to put ONLY like colors together.I dont have any problems doing that.I got tubes craws and worms all in one bag,but they are all same color scheme. It can be tough though if you are running low on a particular bait and need to find one quick.Mixing stuff like ribbon tail worms in different lengths is a pain in the arse at times.
  16. st croix avid for 96 and tax at dicks just before christmas.Amazing renegade spiral grip painted blade spinnerbaits at wal mart rung up 79cents retail 4.99. I went back and bought the whole strip.
  17. Got one a while ago and it is a fantastic bait! Have caught few in my time on those. Wonder why it has been buried in my box?? Must be because there are always new toys to play with.
  18. Hey your only here to learn as am I. I was just trying to explain the difference in the kinds of "frogs" What you should do is take one of each type using the preferences here, hollow body and buzzing, and get one of each. In other words:A lot of people like the ribbit frog which is a buzzbait type toad and a lot of people like the Spro bronzeye which is soft hollow type. Two totally different lures and actions. BTW I live in Florida and anytime is frog time LOL
  19. Truly filpping is not a problem with spinning reel since your not really casting at all, just laying the lure accurately within close proximity.Pitching can be done but I have found only in close quarters because you dont have the spool control at all to make an accurate presentation like a bc reel.It is also very difficult to keep the lure floating a few inches off the surface when pitching like a bc. With a baitcast you can slow down the speed of the cast or even let it go and speed up when you get good.A spinning reel you just have to get the pitch or cast perfect on the first try since it is going to land judged by how hard you throw it. edit: This is not a dumb question all! The only dumb question is that which is not asked. I personally do not own any bc at this time.I do know how to use them however. I too am open to any info that someone could provide on pitching with spinning setups. :-/
  20. Agreed.I have had beat up cranks and rattle traps that didnt even have hardly any of the paint left on them and it seems the more beat up they get the more fish they catch.Have found a lot of dirty corroded lures in trees over the years and same thing,as long as I could replace the trebles and split rings they catch just fine.
  21. The other thing I would like to add is that there are basically 2 kinds of "frogs" listed here. You Have the hollow soft body ones and the ones which are referred to as "buzzing" frogs. Each one serves its own purpose and the bass may prefer one over another on a given day. The buzzing frogs are used like a buzzbait and also gererally sink and can be dropped into holes or twitched in a subsurface manner along weedlines or over submerged weeds. The hollow body frogs can be walked or twitched and pulled along in some really thick slop. So basically you would have to have the poll split into two categories since they are 2 totally different lures. My all around favorite buzz frog is the ribits and rage tails.Favorite hollow frog is the bobbys perfect frog.
  22. Jigs! Grrrrrr! "the go to bait" The go to bait for hauling water lmao. propbaits(devils horse,torpedo,etc..) can kill em on a spook or popper but never caught so much as a dink on props.
  23. x2 I always avoid the bargin bin stuff, and there is a middle point with a lot of brands which are on the high side a little but nothing drastic.7-8-12 dollars, nothing wrong with that. You can have quality and quanity.
  24. X2 they are reasonable priced.I wouldnt go with the 15.99 wal mart specials. You gotta spend a little to get the desired quality but no reason to spend 300 bux just cuz it says costa del mar on it.
  25. I was trying to figure out what the difference was between it and the terminator hybrid blade? The tornado has been out a long time now and the terminator is kinda new.
