OK? Who DID IT?
Maybe what is needed here is a seminar for frustrated wives of fishermen during which through hypnotic suggestion the wives will be aided in begining to want fish with the men they Love. At the count of three ladies you will all awake and remember nothing of these suggestions but when next your husband talks of fishing you will have a strong craving, as if fishing were rewarding you with chocolate, to go with you husband and become a fisherwoman. What do think guys? :-?

Sounds Fishy to me
That was a good one Muddy I had not heard that one before. Did you hear about the redneck the game warden suspected of fishing using dynamite? The Warden wanted to confront him about the rumors he had been hearing but when he caught up with the suspect the old redneck was about to launch his boat. The old man said if you want to talk to me you better get in cause I'm leaving in this here boat so the Warden got in. The old redneck motored around for a while like he was looking for the exact right spot to fish, stopped the boat and opened his big old tackle box sitting at his feet and began rummaging around inside it. The Warden seized the opportunity and said Clim I have been hearing bad things about you breaking the law by dynamiting fish. The old redneck didn't say a word but just kept rummaging around in his old tackle box. This angered the Warden so he said louder Clim did you hear me you are being accused of being a game thief! The old redneck sat up with a lit stick of dynamite in his hands. The Warden could not believe the old man's audacity to do such a thing in front of an officer of the law. That's when Clim pitched the stick of dynamite who's fuse by now had burned very short into the hands of the Warden and said you going to talk or are you going to fish?

OK? Who DID IT?
But RW, you see I went through my tackle boxes and I gave a large grocery bag of plastics and two large plano boxes of lures to my middle stepson plus four rods and reels to him for his birthday. His daughetrs (my granddaughters) didn't have any rods and reels to fish with and I even threw in one for the daughter-in-law. Well there was all this empty space and one thing let to another and that darn bait monkey got loose so before I knew it my birthday and Christmas wish list was done. Oh and there is that short term memory loss problem I have so I always can't remember I already bought that. Anyway, that's my story and I am sticking to it!

OK? Who DID IT?
Who let the Bait Monkey loose? I thought I read some of you guys had him under control. So why did I just get a thank you letter from Bass Pro saying I was in the top ten buyers this month? I don't even remember ordering anything. Do you think he store my identity or slipped me something in my milk to make me forget? I was wondering where all those new lures, reels, G. Loomis, etc. came from, I mean I can't remember a thing, honest. Would I make a politician or what? ;D

What Makes Lucky Craft Worth The Extra $$ ?
To me LCs are another option I try because I fish ultra clear Bull Shoals. Any edge to beat these PH. D educated bass is at the right price considering what the rest of my tackle box is filled with costs. I also have some custom hand painted lures specific for my lake also. Sometimes they slay everything else in the box and then again, they get beat. In the end, it just all comes down to what looks good to the bass on that day, under those conditions, in the mood they are in. I think of it kind of like trying to please my wife, I just keep trying different things till I see a positive reaction.

Am I the only one?
All anyone can do is carry their candle as best they can and in such a way it may light the way for another. One can never find joy or peace until they take their eyes off self and see the needs of others. If only the reflection so many feel this time of year could last all year round the world would be a better place for it. I come from a long line of fighters that tend to rebel at constrant and so it is not easy at times to hold still, hold my peace and just let God. For everyone there is a plan and a way. It is but for us to find it and often it comes as for me when I stop striving and listen with my eyes open and my spirit at rest. To everyone Happy Holidays and may this coming year be the best of your life!

Am I the only one?
I at times wander a field into my beliefs, which are quite different from most if not all here. Sometimes I state things from my view without thinking how others may view them since my views have changed, grown, modified, so much over my years. I do not take myself all that seriously as to think I have all the answers or know everything. It is all I can do to just stumble along the path too often like a blind man seeking my way and while I welcome company each of us must find their own way in this life for all our needs are different. Forgive me if I troubled anyone because that was not my intention. I will continue on this path until my days that are set run thier course. I for many reasons have started looking forward more as the material attachments that so often bind us here fall away. My sister lay dying of cancer at age 45 in her hospital bed and her final words too me were " I'll see Dad before you do." She died that night. She was not sad, or feeling sorry for herself but kidding me as I know she knew she was going that night but in her way she was giving me a gift of her lighthearted self that she would be waiting for me. I Miss Her Spirit because she made me laugh because I was always the serious one and she the Sprite. Such memories are a comfort, a sorrow, and a shadow of things to come as my body ages and I grow closer to the end of my days. It is often upon such as these Holidays I let my spirit wander back through Holidays past. To laugh and cry at all the family joy we had and now that I am the last I can often seen them all watching from on high my struggles to live life. But like a runner in his last long race I will complete it no matter my slow pace for waiting for me at the end are all those I Love and that cheer me on to come and rest in my on prepared place. Am I the only one?
Avid, thank you so much for your concern but it is all OK. My disease and all the surrounding complications are progressing and are not going to allow me a long life. That is all I was saying, that I am ready, and in fact looking forward to it. There are sadnesses that we all go through. Some we can change and some others must allow us to change. Some here know I have seen death since the 70s take friends all around me and yet spare me. If he now comes for me, I see it as something not to fear but a part of life here where we are. Only God knows my day's number. It is a time of Thanksgiving now for no matter how little or how much we have it is all a gift from God for which we should be thankful. I am thankful I have lived to see and learn so much along life's path while meeting so many great people as those here on our forum. As my time grows shorter upon this Earth I have my eyes more upon the prize and do not covet the material things as I did in my youth but upon the riches of the place prepared for me by my friend and companion that took all my fears away. So, forgive me if I seemed distant in my last post as I was just looking forward perhaps a little to far. Peace to all, joy, and happiness during this season and protection to all our young men and women serving far from home. Paparock

Spinnerbaits or Bust
I have been trying to learn spinnerbaits as a new technique. Over this Thanksgiving holiday, my middle stepson and I were out on Bull Shoals with conditions that say spinnerbaits. Therefore, I broke them out (put on a white shad colored one) and by golly; I finally got a nice smallmoth to follow my spinnerbait back to the boat. No, he did not hit and we had to go in for the wife called that the Thanksgiving Meal was almost ready but after weeks of "am I doing something wrong, at least I have seen a sign of hope! YEA! I may learn this spinnerbait thing yet.

Am I the only one?
Happy Holidays Avid and everybody. I understand where you were Avid. Most off my close family are all dead now and I am estranged from my two daughters. The estrangement was by their choice aided by my ex-wife. Sometimes Holidays are very hard with families so scattered and shattered theses days; health and wealth issues weigh more at these times it seems. Now people do not take this bad but I am ready to depart this place. That does not mean something bad actually it means something good to me. I am not in a rush now mind you but I am no clinging vine either. In fact, I rather look forward to passing through that doorway to a new beginning as that is how I look at it. I want to give to everyone I come in contact while I am here something they can remember and if nothing else maybe it is just that this place is as wonderful as we make it but it is not the end. For me this place is like my grandfather's pond where I learned to fish with a cane pole and a cork. It was great fun and full of wonder but it was not the end of fishing for me but the beginning. So too is my time here on Earth. I have learned much that I plan to use as I pass on into that place my creator that came here to make it possible for all of us and left to prepare a place for us, I can hardly wait after all Jesus was a Fisherman! ;)Look what he could do with three fishes.

What reel speed for deep heavy jig casting reel?
This is why I posted my question, thanks for all the great information. I have the 5:1 ratio reel experience but none with the fast reels. I know RW loves his CTE200GT (one of the best reels made) and round reels are what I have vastly more experience fishing. I had forgotten about the line per in retrieved could be deceiving if I look at only gear ration. Being older and in-experienced with many of the faster freshwater newer reel speeds, I did not want to be a stick in the mud. This is my first plunge into G. Loomis territory so I want to put as much thought into my reel choice as I did into the rod. There are so many more reel choices these days it makes picking just one harder at least for me. That is especially true when the wife says I still don't understand why reels cost so much now days. I remember when a good reel was $60. That is when I play my ace in the hole, I remind her I just purchased her a new sewing machine she had to have (to replace her last new one she never used) for $3000. She never saw it coming he he. PS. And there is still my birthday on Dec.23 and Christmas yet to go this year!

What reel speed for deep heavy jig casting reel?
Thanks for all the replys. I know I move my jigs with my rod and not the reel but I was wondering about picking up that line quickly as it is not unusual to catch bass here down to about 60 feet. Bull Shoals main channel is down around 200 feet so you can see it is a pretty deep reservoir. Anyone use the Shimano Curado 200DHSV with the 7.0:1 speed ratio that Tackle Tour raves so much about?

What reel speed for deep heavy jig casting reel?
What reel speed for deep heavy jig reel? I just purchased a G. Loomis IMX Mega Bass 844C casting rod for use with 3/4 ounce football jigs. Those with experience with fishing such jigs in deep clear water reservoirs is there a need or does it help to use a faster speed reel fishing such a rig? Help and suggestions are much appreciated!

Is this change of life or what?
"They ARE out there, and frankly, I'm a bit jealous of them, but knowing , for sure, what it SHOULD be, I could never settle for less. I wouldn't do that to myself and I wouldn't want to do that to anyone else. " That LBH, is an extremely moral stand that will pay you untold dividends in joy while saving you a ton of pain more so because you can look beyond self and see the same benefit to another. That is great insight that many never achieve. My hat is off to you sir. Unbelievably I spent some years studying theology and the professor that I loved most dearly had a saying that stuck with me thru all these years. It deals with this subject as well as any that involves temptation. You can not stop birds from flying over your head but you can stop them from making nests in your hair. Think on that.

Is this change of life or what?
Not all guys are girl watchers just like not guys drink or cheat on thier wives. Some of us males are known among our friends for not being that way. It does sound like some counseling is needed in appropriate behavior especially in public. The situation is not going to get better over night or with one counseling session. If you belong to a church pastoral counseling is free and some pastors are quite good. I understand how embarrassing such behavior must be and I wish you the best at finding the right help.

YO-Zuri H2O Fluorocarbon
There is a new fluorocarbon line coming out from YO-ZURI that sounds very promising for those of us that fish clear water reservoirs like Bull Shoals where I reside especially the "invisible green" color version being offered. YO-ZURI says the green tinted line eliminates the silhouette sometimes created by clear fluoro in slightly stained water. I called YO-ZURI and found out the line will not be available to the public until December 6 this year. It just may become my new jig line but I wish I could lay my hands on some now because the fish are in on Bull Shoals and I could get a good heads up test against the Seaguar on my other rig. I want it and I have not even seen it yet. Ahhhhh, down baitmonkey! Have any of you YO-ZURI sponsored pros fished this new fluoro line? If so how about giving us an opinion on how it fishes?

Slender Pointer?
I recently purchased three of the 112s in American Shad but have not fished them yet. They sure look nice. Has anyone used a 112 in American Shad for Smallies?

*Sigh*...Here we go...again...
Valascus, you have my prayers for God's intervention into your situation and to turn things around for your family. Many of us have gone through the "do I have a target on my back" times in life but it will pass and may you find a better job that pays more than you can even dream of. Hang in there!
