I signed up for Bassin from that Ebay deal -
I got the mag off of Ebay last year and I believe that it said in the posting when I bought it that it could take up to 90 days to receive the first copy - which it did. But I did get it along with the bills that said I never paid, but they quit sending those some time back and I still get the magazine. Wonder how they stay in business? :-/

Curious on what the current ACTUAL makeup of the site is...
When the weather allows and the job doesn't get in the way I fish a lot for fun, every day if possible.

You gotta admit, he is funny and he is NOT Charlie Moore.

Tom Cruise is a nut.
Last I heard John Travolta was just as deep in this "religion" as Cruise. Remember "Battlefield Earth"?

Million Dollar Question
Even though in the "initial" cost of a combo I seem to spend more on the reel I don't seem to break as many reels as I do rods. :'( So the answer is Rods.

Fishing/boat shows - a thing of the past?
Cleveland is having a show right now, I believe it is $10 to get in and $5 to park. Some of the local club folks are there and nice to talk to and while there are some good fishing boats displayed it is mostly the REALLY big stuff that cruises Lake Erie. Gotta tell you, if I was going to pay 350K for a boat I would want it to have a toilet that is bigger than a pie pan. JMHO

How did you find out about this site, and when you registered... (and a little about myself)
I found this place after I moved to a home near a lake. I had always enjoyed fishing but was getting discouraged after not doing as well as the locals. Now that I found BR I am one of the guys people are asking for advice. Still not much of a poster here but I sure enjoy all of the information.

I need Ideas on what kind of fish to get
I thought the idea of the Cichlids was a good one. A pink convict or Jack Dempsey are very nice. I had a Dempsey that would jump out the the tank to eat cat food out of my hand. Great fish and they don't get as big as an Oscar. Don't overlook fish/aquarium clubs in your area. Not only can you learn a great deal they have auctions and you can pick up fish for the fraction of the price of a pet store.

Tell us about your screen name
I was working for 2 places for the last 20 years or so and finally decided to concentrate on 1 job and do some fishing. Found a house on a small (1000 acre) lake near a small town and decided I would stay here forever. About 3 months later I got "downsized" after 20 years and was left with 2 months to find work. I was looking at a review of my credentials by an interviewer and his take on me was "Chemist - 53". Did find a job that takes about 1 3/4 hours one way but I am still living on a lake and plan to make that drive till I find something closer. On the plus side I can be in my boat and on the water fishing in 7 minutes from my door. Have learned a lot from the forum, thanks guys.

Reel to match with Carrot Stix
I put a Revo Prem on my Carrot Stix and the balance feels great.

injurys
After coming off the lake I decided to throw a Texas rig around the other nearby docked pontoons. Walking down the dock I slipped and fell in to the water cracked my head on the dock pole. As I was sliding down between the dock and the pontoon I found myself trapped under water, I was on top of my left arm and while trying to move the right found that it had a 4/O hook in the thumb that was limiting my mobility, of course I was using braid. Not really wanting to die in 3 feet of water I pulled the hook out of my hand, hurt more later than it did then, then reached up and grabbed hold of the bottom of the pontoon, which unfortunately was VERY sharp, and pulled myself out. The SHARP part of the pontoon I had grabbed cut my little finger to the bone around most of the finger. Then I had to pack up my stuff, wrap an old rag around the bleeding finger and go home to face the wife. Took 14 stitches, physical therapy and a whole bunch of shots and the finger really does not work right yet but at least I will live to fish again.

Quantum Reel Rebates!!!!!
It is a cold snowy day and with nothing else to do I called ABU about the new PRM I got on EBAY to see if it qualified for a jacket rebate they are running. They told me that as long as I sent in a copy of a receipt with the amount I paid for the Reel the rebate would apply. Could be from Ebay or Pay-pal. It might be worth making a phone call to these companies since at least some of them recognise we use Ebay. I still hate rebates though.

Quantum Reel Rebates!!!!!
Just out of curiosity, has anyone had any luck with getting a rebate when you bought a new reel of of ebay?

You might be a hardcore bass fisherman if.......
How about, you have more soft baits on top of your dresser than change You ask to have the location of a special training session moved because you are in a room overlooking a small lake and all you can think about is fishing (happened to me) Talk the president of the training company into allowing you to fish in their private 10 acre pond, as well as lending you a couple of baitcasters, for the rest of the week. Showing up to training 2 hours early, staying 2 hours late and missing free evening "entertainment" to catch a few more of the large mouths in that pond. You buy your wife a few surprise pieces of jewelry every time you go nuts over that new rod or reel you couldn't turn down on ebay. The worst though is after being downsized at your job of 18 years, after just getting your dream home on a great fishing lake, you find a job 1 3/4 hours away and keep making the drive because, "no, I don't want to move - I live on a lake".
