How About A Little Fun , Night Fishing And Being Scared
A buddy(Jerry) and I were fishing Lake Jackson Tallahassee Fla back in the early 70's and we were in a 12 ft jon boat. There is a 10' huge culvert under the highway that connects another smaller body of water to the lake and we would often slide the boat through to fish there. On one particular night as we approached the culvert opening, we were about 10 ft away and Jerry said "Hey Big O, I think someone is laying in the bottom of the culvert and they're not moving" :0 I said shine the light up in there and ck it out! He reached down in the bottom of the boat to grab a flashlight making a loud rattling noise. When he did... that someone must have woke up because a huge ruckus erupted and mud and water was flying everywhere in the dark, and the noise from that tunnel was deafening. I could see the silouette of that SOMEONE slinging around in the tunnel and they were getting bigger and bigger as they got colser to the mouth of the culvert. By then, I had my trusty 5 horse Eska motor fired up, in reverse and pouring the gas to her but it wasn't fast enough for Jerry... he wound up in the back of the boat with me just as the that HUGE SOMEONE crashed the front corner of my little aluminum boat pitching us to the side quickly and almost throwing Jerry out! As quickly as the Crazy thrashing started, it was over but so was our night of fishing because Jerry refused to stay on the water any longer And all of this just because someone was laying in the bottom of the culvert. That SOMEONE ruined a good night of fishing for me

Excellent photos and Fish! WTG on the great catches...

Triple Digit Temps
Early, late or night is definitely the call for shore based bass fishing in the extreme heat... When there's miday wind or the water gets dingy, often shallow cranks and Spinnerbaits will get you bit on the winded shorelines especially if there's access to deeper water nearby.

Anyone Remember "pond X"
Sounds as if it shouldn't take too long for your pond to get back to form! The restocking program will be a HUGE help for sure and any new growth that has taken place while the water was down will be a plus as well. Good luck with things!

Just Out Of Curiousity
Fish working trolling motors... That provides a great picture in my mind There are many times that it's absolutely necessary keep control of the boat while fighting a fish and especially to stay off of the fish holding structure or to keep the boat moving away from the fish so that a fish doesn't gain the upper hand or control of the fight. Can't allow the fish to find heavy cover to hang up in... Another time is when a fish is in heavy brush on the hook set, it's important to keep maximum pressure on the fish from the start and up until they exit the obstruction. Can't do this effectively unless the boat stays where it is or moves away from the fish slightly... Hope that helps

Wondering - Jig Trailers
Along with the RT's that were mentioned above, I really like the Eeliminator as a jig trailer when the fish are looking for a slightly longer application with a lot of side to side tail whip. It has become one of my a favorites for flipping and also swim jig presentation. I clip about an inch off of the nose and thread it on with the tail turned up toward the hook. If you get a chance, just watch it in the water and you'll see what I'm talking about. The tail whip is Sweet and the fish like it too! On lighter/smaller jigs, I'll trim a slight amount from the sides of the body to decrease the bulk.
