DVT hit it on the head. 3 is all you need to start with. I fish with my father in law so space is limited in the boat between both of our tackle and setups so we bring 3 a piece. I use a 7MH/F for jigs and heavy t rigs. 7ft M/ MOD F for all trebles since I dont really deep crank this will handle my lipless cranks and squarebills. lastly is my only spinning setup and I dont use it very often but if im going to throw something light I use my 7 M/F spinning combo. With those 3 you can do just about anything. Like previously mentioned though, once you get going you will become accustomed to certain lures or presentations and you can buy accordingly from there. Good luck and try not to over think it. That is a common problem when entering a never ending money sucking habit like fishing!

So this spot i have been hitting during the summer has 2 Nutria swimming around. For some reason I thought they were swamp creatures in the Louisiana area, didnt think they got over here. I thought it was a beaver at first until it swam basically right up to my feet and backstroked away like it wasnt even scared of me. My question is, are Nutria problematic to the fishery? Im assuming they eat fish?.......

I second everyone elses opinions and will also add any rod shimano makes from the sellus up to the compre are all quality rods. I would go for the vendetta on sale and spend the rest on tackle!

Kvd has a video on YouTube about spinnerbaiting and in the video he talks about how confident he is and how he really feels it gets him more strikes. The video is more than a few years old if that has any significance, I don't know. Personally I think it's laughable. I buy bleeding Shad baits, but not for the red hooks.

I just ordered some in bull gill and Tennessee Shad since those are common prey in my neck of the Woods. I use rage tail grubs and rage tail menace for trailers but the options are endless. I night 1/4 and 3/8 oz to start with and will buy more accordingly after I get some positive results. Good luck!

Jig and rage craw in green pumpkin or some variation. 1/2 oz red eye Shad bleeding bait it Tennessee Shad. 3/8 oz spinnerbait white and chartreuse. If I'm going for numbers though I would probably eliminate the red eye Shad and add a smoke pearl with purple flake 5” Senko wacky rigged.

What appeals to one buyer is different than another. Maybe the Pinnacle name itself? Im not too familiar with Their reels but I dont think they have consistently put out quality products. Maybe most people already have their mind made up about Pinnacle and dont feel they are adequate reels? I really dont know, just my perspective. Maybe its a Ford vs Chevy vs Dodge type deal? Im sure you will be able to purchase lews products at BPS before long.

Clayton if you move down here I will personally put you on some wild hogs. my buddy owns some land about about an hour and ahalf west of here and there are plenty of choices to hunt out there. North East of me about 3hours is hog heaven. My brother goes out there quite often and loves it. Ihavent been in a year or so though.

I am about to head to The Texas/ OK border for work in about an hour......Nah i dont feel like driving up to edmond lol. Seriously though, Academy is always having sales. Not too long ago they had the super spots on sale for 99 cents each and the SK Red Eye Shad for 1.99$. I think i spent 40 bucks and bought almost all of them.

Man you too? I got a NIB Pro Max also for 41 dollars shipped off Ebay. I have had my silver max for a while and despite all the Curado owners negative talk about what its made of and its durability, it has not given me one problem. I love it and would recommend it to anyone who was looking in the price range.

DFW is the place to be In your situation. Moving into the "country" i guess you could say would eliminate alot of job opportunities. DFW, mainly the mid cities area is not in the city but close enough to Dallas or Fort Worth. I have lived in just about every city in the mid cities area and HEB (HEB= Hurst, Euless and Bedford). I am 13 min from Downtown Ft. Worth and about 16 from downtown Dallas. There a ton of jobs in either Dallas or Fort Worth and living in the Mid cities or heb area would give you access to either side of town without having to drive a long distance. You mentioned Oil more than once if im correct. There are a ton of rigs close by. They are all 60 miles away or less but considering when your in the oil indrustry traveling is almost a must, an hour drive isnt too terribly bad. My brother in law just moved up here from Mcallen which is south Texas close to Mexico. His rig put him up in Boyd which is about 48 miles from here and he makes it in less than an hour. What im getting at is basically if you were to live in DFW, mainly the mid cities area, you are no more than 1 hour from just about any work opportunity. Another thing to look at is School systems. Your boys mainly your oldest will be in school soon if im correct. HEB is not only top 5 in Texas but i believe it is tops in the nation. Just about all the schools in DFW aside from the inner city schools that are mainly low income areas are some of the best you will find. Like captain O said, Frisco and Mckinney are great areas to live in which are a little north of of The mid cities area. They are newer and more umm.......Nice cities. Very expensive cities. So basically what Im saying is being between Dallas and Fort Worth gives you the opportunity for more work. Maybe if you moved to the mid cities area and found a job then you could move closer if it became a permanent job, but starting out i think this is the best area for you. Plenty of things to do around here for kids, adults and families. The fishing is fair to excellent depending on where you go. Grapevine lake is closest to mid cities and is a decent fall lake. Other than that the bite is tough. Ray roberts is about 50 min north and it is an EXCELLENT lake. Crappie and Bass are abundant and BIG. Those are my 2 favorite and most frequented lakes in the area. There are alot more though. And dont forget, Lake Fork is only a short 2 hour drive from here. Good luck and I hope you find what your looking for. Texas is a great place to live, im sure you and yours would be happy here. The people are friendly and helpful and genuinely nice. Although alot of us dont like Yanks so when you get here and sit down somewhere to eat, make sure you dont say soda or pop when the waitress asks you what you want to drink. All soft drinks are cokes. After she knows you want a coke then you can tell her which kind of coke you want. This way they wont mistake you for a yankee and spit on your burger.
