Bps Crankin Stick?
Ok, after hearing everyones recommendations for a cranking rod in another post in this forum i got to thinking. The Bps crankin stick is made specifically for cranking obviously. The rod specs according to BPS.com are all ml-mh with a f-xf tip. I have always used a Moderate action for anything with a treble hook. The crankin stick is almost identical to the tourney special in looks, just a different name and price tag. If it is offered in the same powers and actions and lengths as any other rod, what makes it a "cranking rod"?

Looking For Some Help
Are you actually seeing the bass in the water with your own eyes? Or seeing where you think they might be? Are you sure they are bass? Not saying your a fool, just trying to cover all basis! Like others have mentioned, if you can see the bass she can see you. Do not run up to the shore and start casting. Get about 15 yards from the shore and start fan casting. Try casting almost parallel to the shore so you cover more water instead o casting straight out and reeling back in. In the early am or late evening i would try a buzzbait. My favorite time to throw buzzbaits are when there is minimal light, right before you can actually see the sun. After the sun is up i would try a spinnerbait, again fan casting. Try to work the bait when retrieving. A steady retrieve with 2 jerks every 5 seconds or so produces for me. Just change it up and see if you can get a strike. Is there any visible cover or structure like docks or boathouses? If there is, try flipping a jig, worm or some kind of creature bait under or around them. If there is ANY piece of cover or a single stick or anything at all, throw past it and work your bait to it, when it gets by it just deadstick and see if that gets you a strike. If i were going to suggest one lure to get someone started on catching bass it would be a senko. They basically work themselves and bass love them. It is important that if you fish them, make sure they are not weighted. Texas rig them weightless or wacky rig them, either way they have a unique fall. Cast it out and let it sink to the bottom and wait. Count to 10 then lift your rod from 6 to 12 and let it fall back to the bottom and again let it sit. Fish them SLOW. Good luck and keep us updated!

Lures That You Have To Have?
You did great getting senkos and rattle traps. Those are 2 lures i have tied on alot of the time. I have a 6'6" mh spinning rod i use strictly for senkos, mainly skipping them under docks/boathouses. Rattle traps are another lure i fish on every trip. I would grab a couple spinnerbaits in 1/4 oz and 3/8 oz to start with. Use the lighter weight for shallower water. I would recommend a standard white or chartreuse/ white mix. If you cant catch fish with either of those 3 lures then there are no fish where your fishing.

Favorite Kind Of Soft Plastics
Berkley powerbait and havoc, zoom, gycb but most of the time I'm throwing strike king rage tail plastics. Usually in a green pumpkin, watermelon, some kind of crawfish color like big Texan or falcon lake craw and I also have a few in red Shad. Of course I have alot of other colors but those are my mainstays.

The Best Thing About Bass Fishing?
The anticipation of getting to that first spot and making that first cast as the sun is coming up. the quiet, calm atmosphere that is the exact opposite of working downtown and throughout the city all week. The feeling you get when you feel the tap....tap tap. Setting the hook and feeling the resistance of the fish on the other end. Looking at my son at 2 years old and my daughter at 1 thinking how much I can't wait to teach them and share with them something I love doing almost as much as being their dad. The rods and reels. All of the tackle organized and in order. every single thing about bass fishing is my favorite. I can't get enough!

Consecutive Work Days
14 days straight. 3 of the 7 in each week are on call days and can range from 9-17 hours. Of course it could go longer depending on how many on call issues there are during that 24 hour period, but usually no more than 17. I have had 135 hours in a 2 week period more than once. Back when i was fresh out of highschool i worked at Discount tire and a local farmers market during the day. From 9 am- 6 pm. Then i worked a late 3rd shift part time from 9-3. That didnt last but 2 weeks. Even at 18 i couldnt handle that. I remember the last few days before i quit the night job, i would stop working and fall asleep sitting up. My boss was not happy.

What Is Wrong, Where Can I Improve?
What type of cover/ structure is there in the area your fishing? Is there any shore structure? If your not T rigging the worms, how are you rigging them and fishing them? There are tons of variations that could go into the reason you are not getting bit. Including the water your at or the spot on water your fishing. The Senkos IMO and most others opinions should be fished weightless. Either T rigged or wacky rigged. The senko has a very enticing natural fall. If you add weight, it wall fall vertically with no action. Senkos are a good starter worm because they do the work for you. The way i fish a senko is simple. T rig it weightless and cast it out. Let it fall all the way to the bottom and wait 15 seconds. Reel the slack up, lift your rod tip from 6 to 12 and then stop. Let the Senko fall back down to the bottom and weight another 15-30 seconds. If you feel anything at all, set the hook. They are free. For the 7" ribbon tail worms, you can fish these a little faster. Weight them depending on the depth of the water. For 5-15 ft of water i throw a 1/4 oz weight. Let the worm fall to the bottom, reel up the slack until you feel your lure with the rod. When you have all the slack reeled up start working the worm with a few small hops with the rod. There are tons of videos on youtube and especially here on Bassresource. Go to the videos section and watch glenns video on how to fish a T rig. It is very informative. Matter of fact, check out all of his videos on Youtube, they will help you tremendously. Spinnerbaits is where i would start if i was you. They are a good search bait that can be fished in alot of the water column. Throw them as parallel to the shore as you can and start your retrieve. Work the lure with your rod, giving it a few twitches while reeling to make your retrieve erratic. This always works for me. If you can let us know what type of visible cover/structure there is and if there are any docks or boathouses or ANYTHING that is different from the regular shoreline, it would help us help you. Your reel is fine for now, i would deff try and find another rod in the 6'6"-7' Medium to medium heavy rod. I would suggest a 7 mh if price is an issue. It would be a better all around setup. your braid will be fine, although i would also recommend yo zuri hybrid in the 8 -12 lbs range. It is very very durable, affordable at under 10 bucks, and will be a better all around line for your setup. Again, assuming price is an issue. Like i said, there are tons of factors to take into consideration. But you cant learn sitting on the couch. I applaud you getting out there and fishing for long periods of time and not giving up. Keep it up, you will start catchin em'. Good luck!

Why Not Store Soft Plastics Out Of Their Bag?
Plano 3731 bulk storage Is what it is. I also have one that is double that size but it takes up most of my tacklebag so i dont use it. With the 3731 i can still fit 3 other standard size plano boxes in my bag comfortably.

Used Cars
An over priced Toyota? Not a chance man. They are priced high because they are worth every penny. If all of the correct maintenence is properly done on time a Toyota will outlast anything IMO. We recently went through a hail storm which totalled my car. So i feel you on finding a decent used car for under 15k. Its not easy. My mother in law has a 00 4 runner that she has literally taken perfect care of and it looks like it rolled of fthe showroom floor, and runs the same to this day. If your looking at a toyota of any kind, even down to a Camry, for around 13k, Its going to have 80+k miles and be an 05 or older. Highlanders are expensive and 4 runners are even more. Again, your sacrificing age for quality. It just depends if your willing to drive something a little older. Go on autotrader and search 3 makes and models and put the top price at 13k, this will give you an average price/mileage/year of the evhicles in your area. 3rd row seems a bit much for a family of 4. I have 2 kids as well. I would suggest forgetting the 3rd row. Just my opinion though, it might make it easier to find something in yalls price range! Good luck!

Hook Size
5" senko T rigged= 3/0 or 4/0 gamakatsu ewg hook. 5" senko Wacky rigged size 4 Gamakatsu finnesse hook. worms under 10", craws, baby brush hawgs and brush hawgs (zoom), Pit boss, lizards etc are all 4/0 gamakatsu ewg. Rage hawgs, 10"+ worms and larger type baits all get 5-6/0 gamakatsu ewg's. There are a few exceptions where i use a 2/0 but not many....

Why Not Store Soft Plastics Out Of Their Bag?
I have never stored mine outside of the original package. I have a plano box that is really more of a deep storage tub. forgot the number of the box but it holds all of my plastics that i keep on the boat. So i have them inside the original packages, inside the plano box, inside my tacklebag. Never had a problem doing it this way.
