  1. The reasons I started fishing after a 35 year "break".
  2. I guess I will have to give it an unscientific review this spring. It caught my attention because it is pale green and black material braided together. Doug Hannon talks about using a marker to create hash marks on your mono to break up the look making it more "stealthy" as RW might say. I am thinking this line may have that idea built in.
  3. Has anyone tried the Rapala Titanium braid line? :-/
  4. Thanks for all of your input so far. Please keep it coming though I think I see a "pattern" developing.
  5. First off I am fishing from the shore the vast majority of time. As I begin fishing an area does it matter what lure I start with? My concern is that if I were to start with say a buzzbait or something "noisy" and don't get a reaction that I have now ruined my chance of success with something more subtle like a senko or other soft plastic. Do you guys have a pattern to your attack? Do you simply start with your confidence bait? I hope my question makes sense. Thanks for your input.
  6. I like the Owner Stinger 41's with what they refer to as a "cutting point". I believe they are a little less expensive than the "gammies".
  7. I sent mine in on December 12 and received my rebate check on January 31. It arrives plainly identified as coming from Shimano.
  8. I was born and raised in Ashtabula Ohio right along Lake Erie but having just recently gotten back into fishing I have not had the pleasure of fishing for smallies there. If you end up putting this expedition together and have room for a non-boater I would love the opportunity! ;D Please feel free to pm me if this may be a possibility. As none of you know me I would certainly understand if I am not invited. Thanks for the consideration!!
  9. Vision oneten, color GG Hasu. A close second would be a PopMax in any color for no reason other than the details, water chambers etc.
  10. Hopefully not as long as it has taken them to get my lure order filled.

How do the Rico's compare to the Megabass PopMax? They seem to be in the same price range so I was wondering.
  12. It's all Raul's fault, you know pointing in the right direction and all that.
  13. Weeeelllll, you could have asked first ya know. Should have opened a new threat, sorry I mean thread, entitled: "I 'm about to jump off the cliff on MB lures, where should I jump from " or something along those lines, always a pleasure to give a fellow BR member a pat on the back. Yes, live and learn. I guess when I PM'd you about specific MB lures I should have asked where you buy yours from. Thanks again for the tip.
  14. Hats off to Raul! This is why I like this forum so much. I just spent some time checking MegaBass prices at some of the sites Raul suggests and he is correct that the pricing overall is better than MegaBass USA. In some cases considerably better. I am not sure if the selection is any better but who cares cause if you find the one you want it will cost you less money. Wish I had known about these places about 3 hours ago!! :-[ Thanks for the heads up Raul, always nice to have new places to shop!
  15. MaxKe: According to the review on www.tackletour.com big fish do not put enough pressure on the lure saver to make it open. It has something to do with the "shock absorber" effect of the bend in the rod as you fight the fish. In order to make the split ring release you must point your rod at the snag, reel in the slack, thumb the spool and pull back slow and steady as if trying to break your line. Evidently this exerts much more pressure than is involved with a normal fish retrieval. If I fished from a boat it would be different but I do not have the ability to use a boat to get close to the snag and use a plug retriever. I would rather lose a treble hook than an expensive crank. As Tokyo Tony points out the key seems to be matching the right size saver to the pound test of the line you use.
  16. sales@megabassusa.com This is the email address for Megabass USA you can purchase direct from them. They have a very good selection of the various colors and in general the pricing seems equal to anyone else's. Shipping is very reasonable also. www.deloscustomtackleshack.com for anything Lucky Craft. I have not found anyone with better overall prices than Delo's.
  17. Raul and T-Rig: You are both right! Raul, I know I have to fish them because they just "look" like they will catch a lot of fish! T-Rig, I am already debating on what to order next, if my wife doesn't kill me first! :-[
  18. Stringjam, didn't get any Deep-X's.....yet. The review they got on Tackle Tour.com is great. I don't normally get the chance to fish water very deep so I thought I may not get the full benefit of using them. Do they get 10-15 feet deep as advertised?
  19. http://www.ultimateluresaver.com/ Has anyone tried these lure savers? Feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!
  20. I just ripped open my package from Megabass USA and after ogling the enclosed lures for a few minutes I don't know if I could stand to tie them on and toss 'em into the water for some big ole fish to chew on. They are so sweet looking. I'm sure I will get over it by spring but right now I might cry to see them get scratched up. I'm not sure they will work any better than my Rapala's and Bandits but from a quality and realism standpoint I'd say I got what I paid for. Come on ice out!! ;D
  21. Credit card.....online ordering.....BAIT MONKEY = Big Trouble. Well I got tired of looking at those LC and Megabass lures so I got busy and ordered some....I hope I get to the mailbox first the day the bill for this arrives. It's a conspiracy. Yep, that's my story and I'm sticking to it!!
  22. Glad to see someone mention the Norman Speed Clips, I picked some up the other day and look forward to trying them this Spring. With the Speed Clips they suggest removing the split ring as the clip essentially serves the same purpose.
  23. +2 Happy Holidays ;D
