Choke Canyon
Major jealousy coming your way!!! I absolutely love that lake. I haven't been on it in a few months, but we had our best luck in and around deep hydrilla (14-16 ft) and on main lake points. C-rig and jigs on the points, and big senkos on the outside grass edge. Also had some luck ripping a rattletrap out of the top of the deeper hydrilla. Have fun and I hope you find 'em.

Sam Rayburn
Any luck on Rayburn? Can you offer any insight? Hope it went well.

Lake fork help
Scott, Tom Redington is awesome enough to post a monthly fishing report on this site for Fork. I would check back right here in January and especially February and print the pattern information he posts. I would bet you will catch fish following his patterns. 8-)

Lake Conroe is Hot
My schedule gets better and better as we get later in the year....I would love to grab a lil' "hush money" with you some Sunday. I will give you a call in a week or so and we will try to coordinate a date. Take care. Tom

Lake Conroe is Hot
FYI....I would never tell anyone a specific locale unless I expected/wanted them to give it a shot. You have offered to help me out on spots on Sam and I thought I would in the smallest way pay it forward. It will literally be weeks before I get the opportunity to go back to Conroe and I may/may not go back to that creek. It will be 4-5 months before I even think about fishing a tourney on Conroe and that pattern will be blown.....so go catch the BIG-UN's I missed. I know you are a C&R guy...so what difference does it make? I will tell you that the biggest one I caught (6#+) and the two bigger ones I missed were right on the bank. I mean right on the bank! If I were to go back there tomorrow...I would toss a frog literally onto the bank and bring it out slowly. I can also tell you they were only relating to the hydrilla and laydowns. I did not get a single thing from flipping vertical stumps...but got bit (or slammed at) on every laydown I targeted. Go get 'em Jack...if I was able to play hookie I would go with you.

WTG Jack!! Isn't that just some FUN fishing?!?! Wish I could get back there soon and try that buzzbait bite but that isn't going to happen. :'(

Back seat open
Fish, You have a PM. I wrote you the PM before I read this thread. Anyone reading this....I killed them today on Conroe and wrote Fish telling him exactly where I was. I won't be able to get back there for a couple of weeks ( d**n work!) and wanted to share the bounty.

Most Embarising Moment on the Water
Had two great solo trips to Lake Conroe during the spawn. Convinced a buddy to go with me on the third weekend. We pull up to one of the only free public ramps (freakin' line of boats waiting to go in) on the lake @ 5:00am...........he backs me down and the d**n boat will not come off the trailer!!!! Boat buckles still attached, gotta love it. He pulls me out 30 feet, I release the boat buckles, and get back in the seat....As he is backing me down the ramp the lower unit starts bouncing off the concrete....never raised the motor when he pulled me out. All of this is going on with about 20 guys waiting on their truck drivers to park, fellas casting for crappie bait etc. WOW!

Where to move???
Grew up fishing bass tourneys out of Tyler and lived in Lufkin for a year a few years back. East Texas is not a bad place to be....

2009 Road Trip
Now see, a Texas lake I might've been able to pull off. Too much going on in our business to take off long enough for Kentucky (or Georgia).

Yall ever?
been a long time since I felt that, but I still remember it!!!

Fishing cold, muddy water????
You called it with the jig. 1/2 oz, at least, with a trailer to make a big silhouette. My closest lake gets really muddy after every rain and the jig (I use a strike king pro model that has a rattle) is my best producer. Sorry to not have any new ideas for you, but sometimes confirmation feels just as good. Good Luck.

Sam Rayburn
Anyone here have Sam as their home lake? I am thinking of fishing a tourney there in June and haven't fished it in 20 years. Just looking for some insight.

Lake Conroe TOMORROW
Caught three in the first 30 minutes of daylight....all 2.5-3.5#'s. Then nothing but water. It was only my second trip to the lake, so I have a lot to learn (hence the request for help). The strong wind did not make for a lot of fun from @ 9:00am on.....as I was trying to target staged bass on points and such. Really like the lake though and looking forward to getting to know the lake in the years to come.
