  1. First tourney on a lake you have never fished before....Just fish what you are comfortable with and enjoy yourself.
  2. Not hijacking Jack's thread as I know he already has a partner.....my back seat backed out this morning because of work. If you are looking for a ride, hopefully with a lil shared expenses, give me a call tonight @ 713-569-0208.
  3. Muddy, That was funny......I don't care who you are, that was funny. ;D
  4. Hey Iclass.............I have them both and do not have a new 21-22 foot bug behind my beat up old truck!!!!!!!!!
  5. Hey Dawson, You can joke about a guys ride, rig, equipment, job, house, skills, and even his bald head and beer belly....but integrity is usually a pretty touchy subject. Welcome to the site....from my hometown no less. Gotta love East Texas.
  6. Choke keeps this up and it will start getting hammered like Falcon is. Choke is a horrible lake, tough to navigate, and even tougher to locate and catch any fish at all!
  7. Wish I could...haven't been on Fork in a long time....but work is gonna keep me from it. Good luck.
  8. Welcome aboard! I was in Tyler my first 29 years...I miss Lake Palestine.
  9. Welcome fellow Texan!!
  10. Haven't caught a monster there (best @ 6#) but have only been twice. I love that lake though! So much so that I was at Falcon Lake this past weekend and seriously considered rolling up to Choke early Sunday morning for our last day. Have a tourney there in March and May and cannot wait to get on it again.
  11. Dan, Read the stories from the FLW Day one and two....a few of the guys at the top are guides on Falcon. But.......I wish you luck at this point. Just about every room at Falcon (and there aren't that many) is booked for awhile. I got lucky and called a couple of weeks ago on the same morning they had a few cancellations for a room this weekend. I hope you get to go!!
  12. Fred Couples has been playing the Sept-Dec schedule for years to make big $$...Tiger plays in Dubai (and builds a course there) for the same reason.....make it while you can.
  13. The average Chinese citizen height is 5'8" recorded in 2008 by poll. Yao Ming (chinese born & bred) is 7'6" tall. 47+% bigger than the average. Natures' freaks at work. I believe the record and also believe it will be broken. Where? Could honestly be one of a few places. Hoping it is on the end of my line!
  14. Hey Chase, I know it is a different series, but the FLW website actually has a tab leading to a co-angler clinic with a lot of informative stuff on it.
  15. LOL Sam....my list is not that extensive...but yeah, we all do it if on the water enough. I can tell you I fished Conroe Sunday and got skunked for the first time on that lake. A 9 pound anything (bass, striper, catfish, goo, whatever) would have been welcomed!
  16. Depending on what part of SA you are staying in, Choke Canyon would be my only choice. It is @ an hour South of SA and my favorite lake to date. This is if you decided to get a guide that is...not much available as far as shore fishing. Good luck
  17. Where in East Texas are you going? I grew up there and the previous posts are the PRIMO spots. If you are limited by budget or boat, send me a pm............if not, these guys are right on. I can't put you on a monster, but I have tons of family fishing all of the "other" lakes that can put you on fish.
  18. Great article, thanks for sharing.
  19. I am committed to taking a weekend for myself in January. Towing my rig to Rayburn Friday night 1/9, fishing Saturday, Sunday (for sure) and maybe Monday. There is a full moon on Saturday night. (maybe matters, maybe not) Don't need anything in return because I am going anyway...just don't like non-tourney fishing alone. Bring or expect to buy your food, bring your tackle, drive there or if you can make it to my area...just ride along. My normal partner's wedding anniversary is that weekend & I am going anyway. Just thought I would offer. Tom
  20. Love Mark Zona's "World's Greatest Fishing Show"! That guy is just funny, and usually has someone along who can catch some fish. I still have a couple of then DVR'd from August and September. Can't wait for them to start again.
  21. Ignition had a tourney there Saturday, 12/13. 32+# bag took first place with a 10.73 kicker. 29# and 26# took second and third place. Wouldn't that be a shame to weigh in an awesome 26+# bag and take $400 for third place? I mean, better than nothing...but I bet they were a lil' upset. I fished Conroe for four hours yesterday morning with that front moving in and caught three on a jig. Quick drop on a point from 12-19 ft. 4.25#, 3#, and 2.5#. Bite was barely detectable on all three and my hands were freezing, so it is safe to say I probably got bit more....just did not feel it. LOL. Good fishin' there to be sure
  22. Congrats Red, That thing brings back some awesome memories. My brother and I used to tear up the third lake at Hide-A Way lake in Lindale in one of those! You will love it.....just be watching the forecast and don't get caught out in some waves.
  23. Sorry Jack, I did not know it was on the DL.
