  1. sucks too, imo. if they made a 5.1 mg, i may think about selling my last calais.
  2. may be just the time of year. here, the males are all up in some lakes and are not really eating it, just moving it from the beds. caught 32 lm yesterday on a 4", including a 6.2#...but, i must have missed a dozen more due to the moving off thing. bream will pick 'em up, as well.
  3. only gots one risto left!
  4. have caught 18# carp and 12# catfish on 10# xt. unfortunately, was fishing for bass at the time. xt is a tough line, it does have some stretch (tho not as much as big game) and it is not user friendly in cold water...it does seem to relax some in warmer water after a few casts. would not be my first choice for casting on a spinner but, for trolling, may work well.
  5. reed's fishing (reedssports.com) lists several weights on the croix, loomis and others...not all, but most.

imo, the sluggo ss was a better fishgetter than the original sluggo. a killer, wacky-rigged.
  7. don't forget the storm subwart. of all the ones i use, the subwart just seems to produce when others don't.
  8. you need a new guy in the other room. preferably, about a mile down the block.
  9. have caught three 10# lm and five 9# lm the past 3 years...all but one have come on an 1/8 oz. bitsy bug/zoom super chunk jr. sorta like that old saying...it ain't the size, it's the motion. 8-)
  10. pointer 78. toss it out. think "underwater pop-r"...colder the water, longer the pause.

pointers rc's flat mini's imo, cream of the crop.
  12. cbr 845 is the most versatile...in my hands, the 843 is a tad wimpy...the 847 for poes, fatfrees and dd22's.
  13. got an old pop-r that i've threatened to put on the mantle next to the baby's bronzed shoes. was frog colored when i bought it years ago, but now looks like a chicken bone the dogs out in the yard have been gnawing on...i put it up after the last 9#' er nailed it. the way things have been going lately, i may have to put her back into service. don't know that i would call it lucky, but i would call it special.
  14. thanks, guys. miss the old 100a's myself.
  15. how does the size of the chronarch 100b compare to the chronarch 100a?...calais 100a?...closer to the curado 200d? for some reason, the 100b is one of the few shimano reels have not owned. smoother than the core with spinnerbaits?
  16. at the moment, my favorite is the core/mbr844. but, the one i have the most fun with is a 50mg/mbr782.
  17. 1/8 ballhead/zoom finesse. 4" senko is close.
  18. would go with the 783, as well, for all-around. if all i was doing was jigs and plastics, would go with the 844.
  19. topwater, cranks, jerkbaits. one of my favorites.
  20. personally, use pvc...costs more, but worth it. if i don't have a bubblewrap sheath, will tape paper around the eyes (newspaper will do)...wrap both ends with a good amount of paper...tape both ends from the inside of the tube to the outside of the tube...prevents sliding...cut out two cardboard end pieces and duct tape the ends, making sure you tape the rod ends tape that is now outside the tube. don't spare the duct tape...fedex, ups and usps can get very creative in their destruction.
  21. depends. spring, summer, fall...usually start top and work my way down...reverse in winter. pop-r type bait will tell you right quick if their active or slow...crankbait, spinnerbait on a point will tell you right quick if their gonna chase. this leaves plastics......sooner or later, it always comes down to plastics. and, it usually doesn't take very long.
  22. $.02 cents more for the curado. have never had much luck with silstar's cousin/uncles, mother/aunts or brother/father-in-laws.
  23. 5' coppermouth on a fat "a"...never let 'em tell you they only swim on TOP of the water. beavers are obviously dumber than i thought. but they can sure pull drag!
