  1. while you're checking out the sbr's, check out the cbr 756, as well. 6' 3" heavy action/mod-fast tip with a shorter handle. line 12-25 lure 3/8-1 3/8 some may not like a mod-fast for spinners but, if you're looking for accurate rollcasts, it does give you another option to look at.
  2. while you're at it, may as well pick up a deep tiny n, a middle n and a deep little n. they require a tad more tuning out the box than most cranks nowadays but, they are solid producers and have been for years. the deep tiny n in color #161 gelcoat is a mainstay in my panic box.
  3. lc lvr's in ghost minnow is a good one, as well. that said, there is always a chrome/blue rattletrap somewhere in the panic box.

the first four letters of his last name says it all.
  5. killer #1...shadrap #5 killer #2...norman dtn
  6. not saying it ain't gonna change but, will say it ain't gonna change as much as one would think...bumping the back hook up to a #6 on the rapala will make it rest almost horizontally instead of horizontally...it doesn't affect the retrieve, imo.
  7. sold both spinners (sjr781 and sjr782) early last year and have yet to miss either one...at least, for bass. wind will be your biggest challenge...on windy days, i just substitute the rc .5 or pointer 65 for the #7 rapala and add a sampo swivel to the 1/8 roostertail...cutting off the stock hook on the roostertail and adding a #6 or even a #4 works as well. bumping the back hook up one size on the #7 rapala and #5 shadrap can also make a huge difference in casting without affecting retrieve. a little bit of modification can make almost any 1/8 bait into a 3/16 bait without affecting performance and 3/16 is do-able with almost any good ml or l out there.
  8. any good mg reel...mg50, core, steez. light reels on a light rod are a god-send for tip-up. for tip-down, the steez is the better of the three at handling the heavier pull baits such as spinnerbaits. ymmv.
  9. seem to be doing a lot less surgery on the water since going barbless several years ago. imo, barbs were designed to keep bait on a hook, not fish.
  10. personally, use a 6'6" m/f (mbr782) for most of my cranking anymore...it's a good mix between distance and accuracy. if i want more power, i just bump it up to the mbr783. and you're right to downsize the hookset...you don't really need to knock 'em in the head cranking with the faster actions.
  11. have fished with a friend's ltx 7' and the 6'9". it was like fishing with a 7' and 6'9" pistol grip...light but, way outta kilter on balance...imo, cheaply made and not very sensitive. with all due respect to the kistler fans, i wouldn't have paid $129.00 for either...much less the $329.00 they were asking for them.
  12. it looks like it would catch a mantle really well.
  13. the mbr 782 is an excellent option, as well.
  14. that power handle is gonna look really good on that core i got at the house. 8-)
  15. whacked 'em the other day twitching it around weedlines, docks and stumps...looks just like a bluegill sunning. only caught one on the retrieve but, it was the biggest of the day...she had little color, so i suspect she was deep. and, yea, they should put some band-aids in the pack along with the bait...the hooks mean business.

scary, ain't it. it wasn't the gun they wanted to abolish...the target was the "inalienable right."
  17. knock 'em in the head as soon as you feel 'em...with a 10" worm, anything you miss you ain't missing much. 6/0 gammie ewg superline here. oh yea...once you get bit, hang on.
  18. x2...the gl's are okay but, at that price, the avid is the better stick.
  19. Same.....had one, sold one x3.
  20. if memory serves, the zara gossa had a slow sink to them...as opposed to the jointed rapala. very effective bait, at times.
