  1. have mossybacks and glx bcr's. the mossyback (804) is an excellent rod for dropping plastic into cover and bringing said plastic (with fish attatched) back out of cover...imo, this is more a power presentation than touchy-feely. the glx (803) is all about touchy-feely...there is reason why it has become the bellweather. and, imo, is more than worth it.
  2. bumping the shadrap's back hook up one size will help you on the distance part. megabass deepx 100 is another good one...the slim shads are next on my list.
  3. shorter rods lighter reels lighter baits shorter targets i also got rid of all splitgrips...they may be lighter but, with all due respect to those that love 'em, they are agonizingly tip-heavy for me anymore...tipup or tipdown. i fished most of this year with a steez/mbr782 combo for tipdown and a steez/bcr803 combo for tipup and i don't think i missed a beat all year.
  4. call gloomis and tell them you want the expeditor service. tell them the model broken and they will send you a new one...when it arrives, place the old one into the rod tube and ship it (pre-paid) back to them. it will cost you $50.00 total...if the broken rod is brand new, you can go for the warranty service at $20.00. sorry to hear about the rod...things do happen.
  5. natural can correct me if i'm wrong but, believe the moonsault cb-200 hits right at 6' as well.
  6. depth-wise, would go for the flat mini dr...don't let the small size fool you...these are killer producers. american shad and ghost sunfish are my most productive colors...they trade off well thru the seasons.
  7. you may wanna look at the bcr 803 to go with that 50mg. match made in heaven.
  8. senko or fluke. you can also extend that topwater bite (when it dies) with either.
  9. if you "shop", the curado e5 can be had for right at $155.00 shipped. tough reel to beat at that price.
  10. sc has never looked like a ranked team to me all year. that said, their defense is ranked #3 in the nation? maybe #147 after florida gets thru.
  11. get the 50mg...for the silly prices they have on them now, it's a no-brainer. the e7 is a sweet little reel and, in my hands, a bit more all-around...but, a year from now, they'll still be available. for what you can do with the 50mg, you'd have to spend quite a bit more for a jdm (pixy, presso, conquest). there is great rumor shimano will soon release a newer version in a curado e frame...if it matches the capabilities of the original, this can be a good thing. that said, lightning rarely strikes twice...
  12. thanks, bigrick. a classic, for sure.
  13. we all do things at different speeds but, if you can work a pop-r, you can work a jerkbait...only difference is one's on top of the water and one's 5' down in the water. think "underwater pop-r" to get the hang of it and work your way up from there. some folks jerk hardbaits all year long but, it seems to work better for me in the cooler waters...in warmer waters, i seem to switch off to the senko.
  14. have heard houston nutt is interested in clemson. good coach that can get to the top at a school with big pockets in the acc than he ever did with a school with big pockets in the sec. am just saying.
  15. looks like the grandgirlchild in my truck...she just knows she can drive it. as a side note, that chrony 50mg for $180 and change is hard to beat.
  16. if you wanna fish 'em deeper, tie it to a 6/0 ewg gammie superline. the heavier hook makes 'em fall just a tad slower than a 5" senko...tough bait to beat in cooler waters.
  17. I hope your right. Only it will be Bama with the one loss and the SEC trophy, not the gators. you may be right....alabama finally played a whole game last week. texas has to make it past tech, as well...they can't underestimate the red raiders this year.
  18. texas/florida. a one loss florida with an sec trophy will trump penn.
  19. my monkey just ain't right. got a $15 off $50 purchase from dick's when they opened here...walked in there, looked around forever and walked back out with nothing but a smile. next day, an internet buddy posted a nib steez for sale and i wuz on it like a cheap 'ho with hot butter. like i said, he ain't right but...he does have his priorities right. 8-)
  20. thanks. good one.
  21. mbr844/curado200dhsv/20# big game. a tad heavy but, have literally skied 9#'ers across the water and into the boat with this combo. tough combo to beat when you're after the biggest toad in the lake.
  22. don't forget the roumba's. nothing like the bullfish but, a lotta fun in the world of wakebaits.
  23. pointers. year in, year out, they just seem to out produce the others.
