  1. lake erie is definety better but another great lake that is often overlooked is the great lake michagan its close or even just as good as erie for the smallmouth i give erie alittle edge just because it produces more bigones than michigan
  2. good luck man is this your first tournament?

yea i read the same labels but my family has been using there teeth there entire lives to clamp on slpitshots and nothing has ever happened i use my teeth as well but after reading the label i always spit after i clamped it
  4. i dont have any major corps in my area but there is alot of small tackle shops by all the near lakes and towns most of them have excalty what i need and most will order certain baits from wholesalers for me thats how i got ahold of the basstrix
  5. its tough to fish with hard baits in current but with the warm water everything will be in the area, craws, minnows, etc i would use a 1/4 ounce jig with a pork trailer and just let the current take it just so its bumpin the bottom if that doesnt work try a tube and/or senko on a lighter jighead or trig imitating a minnow and just let the current take it down then just jerk it a little bit on the way back in good luck i love fishing discharges anytime of the year
  6. improvin on search baits and aggresive tackle really want to hit up the water alot more and maybe even fish for largemouths alittle bit more
  7. i really like the tiny and baby torpedos as well and faced the same problem i used spinning gear and still couldnt reach the other side of the lake well i just backed down the line size a few notches also add a spitshot to help cast distance and it actually gives the bait a little bit different but good action without sinking the bait
  8. yea craw fishing is awesome but just so u know the best craw bite starts during the spawn and warmer summer months its not the greatest bait for prespawn i dont want to sound like a jerk saying dont to use them i just dont want u to start to hate craws because of some bad days on the lake go ahead and use them just throw minnow imitations in addition with them in the prespawn
  9. i have a few packs of the basstrix and some of the knock off kamikazee treats the basstrix definety swims better and looks better but i dont think its going to make a diffence in fishing i didnt notice any smell in either bait. i havent used the luck e strike BM yet but i hear u can buy them at BPS so ill probably own a few of them before too long
  10. swimbaits are a hard bait to get used too most people think there is nothing to them well first u picked a good location to fish with them on i personally never fished amistad but i know of all the trees in that lake target them monster bass conjuate around sunken trees the depth depends on the depth of the water try swimming it right about the tree and on the sides also back eddies and creeks are good places to throw swimbaits keep them off the bottom but close enough that bottom fish can see them good luck its a fun way to fish
  11. thanks all the patterns u talked about i tried i just got to be more precise and not switch as much thanks alot im really gonna try to improve this aspect of my game this year thanks again for all the tips
  12. ummm for rivers... a if the current is relativy fast i would go with either 8lb-12lb fireline crystal or vanish but if the current is not so fast try 4-10lb fireline smooth casting or your favorite fluoro depending on the fish
  13. yea thats tough its hard getting creek smallies to bite this time of the year but it is a good time of year to restock on your favorite baits clean reels and reorganize your baits lol yea i feel your pain i cant wait to get back out and fish creeks
  14. yea i hope it should be a great time and will definety help make this winter wait til the 08 season go alittle faster thanks man
  15. elk creek in erie PA like i said i never been there and never steelhead fish before i trout fish alot with flies on some creeks and streams by my house is it similar?
  16. i pretty much try my best to do the same as i would when its sunny casting to grass and docks or whatever with senkos or tubes then i will switch to a jig most of the time and fish ditches and points then i go with a crankbait but never do good on that either i mean i figured out what to do sometimes but most of the time when the sun goes behind them clouds i suck
  17. im supposed to go up for steelhead sometime in Feb. and i have never done it before i was hoping to use a flyrod a guy that always goes up gave me a few flies called scrambled eggs its a pink and green egg imitaition thats what ill be throwing on my flyrod ill probably use egg sacks on light spinning more though
  18. sufix seige this line sucks!!!! i bought it once and it was starting to fry while i was spooling my rod wow terrible and a waste of money i threw the crap away
  19. i really like when the sun is out and its really hot unlike most anglers i know how to find fish and get them in such conditions but i have more trouble getting bites when it is overcast i know everyone probably thinks im crazy right down but those fish move off of the structure and i have trouble getting them does anyone have any tips to help me find and get more fish to the boat? thanks

i never used them but i cant see the bait causing any affect on the action and it definety wouldnt cause a fish to bite it but if u feel it isnt getting the greatest action or whatever just cut a half an inch or so off of the long side
  21. i keep a bunch of panfish grubs in small baggies and got the chartuse on everything if u plan on mixing them just for a short period of time yea its safe to mix the colors but if u are going to store them definety separate the chartuses and more furolencent colors from or more dull colors
  22. man that would be fun but i have no room this year to go have u ever fished it before? its awesome i went once last year over a port clintion in ohio im not sure where u plan on goin i would love to go too bad if u have any questions about it just ask
  23. when i was younger i liked to visit lakes tis time of year that was really low having the breast worked on and finding old crankbaits and that. i found a real nice way to remake a lure first sand off all the old paint but dont sand off any of the body or u will ruin the action then replace the eyehooks in the spots if needed after that buy some different cans of nice spray paint i like apple red and gloss black i spray the body with the red real lightly then when dry spray again with red and then spray the back or the bait black so the paint blends into one another then i had the hooks to the bait its time consuming but a fun thing to do in the winter and its satisfying to catch something on your own creation have fun
  24. wow no idea how u can kept track of all those stats well my biggest trout was 24 inches biggest smallie about 4 and a half caught on tube on lake erie and biggest largemouth about 5 caught at a small lake on a 5in senko in PA the best lure for me this year was a 1/2 ounce football jig used in deep water had 3 100+ days in 07
  25. i like green pumblinseed with a crawdad color trailer for most conditions but a junebug jig with matching trailer is sometimes a lethal combination for stained or muddy waters such as the three rivers in Pittsburgh
