  1. I agree with all of Catt's statements and I know that #3 defiantly runs true at least on Toledo Bend. I have caught nice fish fishing frogs over grass but whenever that dies i always can go back through and pick up more and usually bigger size on the slower under the grass presentations. At the same time however i could defiantly see how some lakes might be completely different and would depend on the depth of the lake overall i would think. Time of day and temperature of the water and the presence of heavy sunlight would also play a big role in this as well I believe.
  2. Looks like its gonna get a bit cold on the weekend forecast says 53 on Sat. but We'll have to see, Best not spend to much time thinking about the stuff i cant control. I dont think it'll effect the bass all that much as they seem to be in the spawning mode but we'll see.
  3. Understood fishfordollars . I'm liking San miguel and 1215 also Wilson and corsey and I think right at the top of James gaines should produce this time around as I saw many lilly pad stems there so I know there is hard bottom. I'll be happy as long as the wind doesnt go hay wire again!
  4. Awesome Guy! I always love watching his show its got some cool ideas on there and I always enjoy seeing him get so pumped for a bass when he's bringing it in. Its always nice to see someone with such a passion for the sport.
  5. I texas rig it usually with a Gama. 3/0 EWG offset shank the weight is 3/8 I believe. Its a great fishing bait and from my experience delivers big bass. I usually fish the Anaconda slow and let it hop along the bottom and let that tail flutter around. Sometimes I swim it a bit and let it sink to the bottom and hop it a bit. Its a good versatile worm so see what the bass want. One things for sure you wont be disappointed!
  6. Hey ya'll well I got a bit of a report and a quick question for ya'll... Firts off the report: This was all over the course of Feb. 26-March 1st We were staying in Patroon right by Holly Park Marina. So on the first day we get there at about 2 p.m. and its not to windy and pretty warm. we head out to shallow water in a Creek with deep water close by. We fish for about 4 hours and land 4 fish not to great but its a start and one of the fish went 5.12 lbs so it wasnt bad at all I guess ;D The next day we focus on the james gaine boat lane area and catch a few nothing of any size.. It stayed cloudy all day and you could tell weather was coming in. then we went to shallow coves with close deep water. caught some on weed lines and saw some on the beds again none of any notable sizes but we did loose about a 4 pounder I'd say and lost some others we never saw... Then after that day the weather came and WOW!!! winds were tenacious and there was no hope of fishing but for a few hours the next day.. We caught like 3 fish in 1 and 1/2 hours and that was it we went back in.. The rest of the trip was just wind city so no more fishing for me. Lures that worked were Spinnerbaits dbl. willow leaves white skirt and Senkos(Watt.) and also swim senkos(Smoke Prp. flake) Rattle trap caught a couple.. the big one came on a Spinner bait. they all were relating to that grass so we focused on finding that grass line. Now for my question: Im staying next to Holly Park again next week and was wondering if maybe I should make the run to 1215 or If I should stick with The three big coves in Patroon and the northern shore and James gaines any input would be greatly appreciated. Also if I end up going to 1215 what am I looking for there? the area looks absolutely huge.Thanks. Tight lines ya'll
  7. Senkos are great for skipping only sometimes Since they are delicate and all They will rip while skipping. Paca craws are great for doing this. I get alot of dock bites that way and I will sometimes put a shakeyhead on the Paca craw and that works as well. Also what Sam said about the location on the dock you caught the fish is a great thing to remember.
  8. Six spinning reels and six spinning rods... Hopefully two more reels at least by the time summer is done. I guess you could Say I prefer spinning reels ;D
  9. Everything that brgbassmaster said and also i like to work a paca craw on a stand up jig head as close to the dock and far back there as I can get it.. This technique produces for me alot and Gets nice bass
  10. 1. all anybody ever asks you around work/school is "how was fishing?" 2. If people that drive by the lake you fish at honk at you because they see you there just about everyday. (happens all the time) 3. if the people that live on the lake you fish no you're name and all about you. 4. If you're cell phone/camera is filled with only pictures of bass you catch 5. If every time you pass some water you pick it apart (even the same body of water like every morning)lol 6. If you've ever thought about quitting you're sport programs for more fishing time.
  11. Fat Ika is awesome not only does it catch the bass but not one person around here uses it... I know all the "regulars" down at the pond I fish and never seen any of them use it ;D its my little secret down here. On days when nothing seems to produce i can pick these up and start slamming them almost any time. These things have always caught me at least 5 fish every time I throw them.
  12. My first tournament was just short of a year ago... It was team i was with my dad. We were fishing lake Veret in LA which since Hurricane Katrina hasn't been to good. Anyway out of 15 boats we finished 2nd and had Big fish award. we caught the 5lb big fish in the first 15 minutes of that day ;D that was a good way to kick off my first tournament
  13. I'd have to go with Bandit.. I love these Cranks and they work well.. I caught 10 fish in about 30 minutes yesterday on a red craw footloose. the one negative experience I've had with these is one day i was fishing in a tournament on Lake Verret in Louisiana. It was really hot out that day and the sun was cooking. Needless to say 2 of my LA shad crank baits that were sitting in a top part of my tackle box which you can see through had they're paint jobs torn up. Like the crank bait busted out of the paint shell in 2-3 areas it looked like. But besides that these Cranks are awesome for the money. Out of all 18 up there those were the only 2 so I didn't mind
  14. Well I want to get better at all the baits I throw I know I haven't mastered any so My as well do that.. Read my depth finder and maps better so I can make decisions about where to go and what not. I also want to work on my consistency which is getting better I believe. This year for me is my first year to seriously bass fish. I've fished all my life but this year is time for me to really dive in.. I cant wait to get the hang of Jigs, top water, lipless cranks, cranks, and all plastics oh yea and spinner baits just about every thing ;D last two trips i've been working on Buzzbaits and spinner baits and they both produced well and i have confidence in both. Senko has always produced so thats another that i just wanna get better and more consistent with. This site has helped so much with all the info on here its awesome. So for 08 its full speed ahead for me in all aspects of fishing I know it'll take longer than just a year but I am looking forward to it
  15. Well I went down to one of my neighborhood ponds yesterday and wow it was a day of first and I loved it.. When I first got there I could see bass suspended and I could see them hitting on the shore all around me. I started with the Senko and Caught a couple none of any real size. I then switched to a jig and they wouldn't take that. So i finally said what the heck and tied on a buzz bait for the first time in my bass fishing life. Well I fished this one little cove where I could see bass and nothing till about the 8th cast in the same spot and slam! he nailed it he was just a dink but still my first buzz bait bass. After that I was so pumped i couldn't put it down. I ended up catching about 20 or so bass in about an hour and a half all on Buzz bait. I landed a 3lb and a 4lb and had a hawg on I could tell by the way he was pulling but he got off about 5-7 missed the buzz bait and wouldnt take it after i brought it back over that area 3-4 times. All i can say is wow Buzzbait is going up there in my favorites just thought I'd tell ya'll about a great day fishing

Well yesterday at about 4pm I rode out to one of my neighborhood lakes and decided to get some fishing in right before this front came through and Im glad I did. Within the first 30 minutes I had caught about 5 one of which was a 3lber not bad for my standards. Later as it got darker and started to drizzle the bight picked up and I was slamming them, I brought up a 4lber and Soon after under a Cypress tree an 8lber slammed my senko... I just about lost my pole he hit it so hard and then when I saw him in the water I just about screamed I have never really caught a big bass my pb before this trip probably being 2.5lb's and this is the first year I really am getting into Bass fishing, So I get in him and I am shocked by far my Pb and from this local lake. I walked away with 16 fish that day and 4 over 3 lbs. (one of which jumped out of the water to hit my senko since I got it stuck in a tree branch : the day before that I caught about 11 from the same lake. All I can say is I've found my honey hole and I'm pumped up to really get into Bass fishing this year Coolest part was this was all shore fishing to. to bad Im out of those color Senkos :
  18. Mine was an 8lb largemouth caught in my Neighborhood pond Yesterday.. I caught a 4 pounder that day as well and walked away with 16 fish in 2 hours from the Shore. It was probably one of my favorite days fishing I'm still pumped up about it all ;D
  19. I've used/seen tons of different plastics drop shotted and most work fine.. It kinda depends on what the bass feed on in your area In my opinion I like the Yum tubes and Also Any kind of Craw fish like plastics work well Worm like baits are always great to.. like Thefishin1 said if its plastic and catches fish you can drop shot it
  20. Alright will do didn't even think about the search function :-/ Glad to find such an awesome site for bass fishing though
  21. Hey ya'll well I've been reading the site for a little while now and decided to post as well.. I was cruising around on the net when I run into that Doug Hannon site for those Fishing snakes. anyways I was wondering if anyone has any Advice on whether I should try these out or not... Down here in Louisiana there are quite a few snakes in and around the waters that I fish. So any advice and stories/experiences with these baits would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
