The Walmart that I shop at is doing just the opposite.They are expanding their line of baits.They're now selling Senkos,Chatterbaits,Minn-Kota on board battery charging systems,DT line of Rapala crankbaits,DD line of Norman crankbaits,and several more that escape me at the moment.A friend of mine,who is the sporting goods dept. mgr.,says they are not phasing out,but they are expanding.He does say ,however,that the stores that don't sell a large number of guns will be phasing out,but that will be a while before that happens.The big gun sellers will continue to sell guns.

However, I get a chuckle when I read someone say that he's a lousy angler just because he's never won an event. He won the AOY for crying out loud! He's never won a BASS tour level event, but he is consistantly good. I hate that he did something so crazy. I get an equally good chuckle when I read a post that says I said Swindle is a lousy angler.I simply asked"Has he ever won anything?"You gave me my answer,AOY.Seriously,Has he won a BASS tournament,and in what year did he win the AOY?Been a few years ,I think.

My two most successful colors are white and black.From the begining,I was catching bass on them.Most of the lakes that I fish have lots and lots of floating and slightly submerged grass(I think it's milfoil but could be wrong).I catch more on a solid white Toad than anything.I like to buzz it through and along the edges of the mats of grass.I'll often kill the retrieve when I hit a hole in the mats.I use a 7'0 MH Lightning Rod w/a Amb. 5500.I spool it w/15 lb Yo-Zuri Hybrid in low vis green.When pitching/flipping plastics I'll often use a Horny Toad in watermelon w/pearl belly.I've had some success this way.It's also good on a Carolina Rig.I use a 4/0 or 5/0 Eagle Claw EWG hook.As has already been said,when I get a bite I wait untilI can feel the fish before I set the hook.IMO,this is VERY important.

No witty,down home comments from the "G-Man(?),huh? He looked like a sulled up child while explaining his "mistake".As for fishing Howell's water,someone should have reminded ole "G" about that bridge that he thought belonged entirely to him!Zell,should have !!@$#@% slapped that coward.I used to like Swindle,but he's nothing but a bully on the water.I know some folks that would certainly take him up on his big,bad attitude.By the way,has he ever won anything?

I use a Quantum Accurist which has a flipping switch,and I have no plans to change.I'm very happy with my set up.

Even with all of the negative talk in past posts about Byron's lack of fishing success,I've always admired him.He didn't get to fish the Elite series by being a bad angler.

My wife used to fish with me almost every time I took to the water.In the last two years she's kinda cooled off(on the water at 4-5 AM five days a week during the summer can take its toll).She still fishes with me often but not enough imo.She is a fantastic T-rig worm angler(has the patience to retreive the worm SSLLOOWWLY).Her favorite bait is a Culprit 7" red shad worm.She can really slay 'em with it.She's also a very good spinnerbait angler.Her PB is a 7.2 FL largemouth.She's starting to get that bassin' fever again.

As for fishing,my mgr friend at wmart reports that wmart is definately NOT getting out of the fishing biz.In fact,they are expanding to sell more of the top,higher priced items.Of course,they won't be AS high priced at wmart.

I have a friend who is the sporting goods dept mgr at one of our local wmarts.Concerning gun sales he says that some of the stores will stop selling guns,but the stores that are top gun sellers will keep on selling.For example ,we have 3 wmarts in town.Two of the stores will eventually stop selling(and that will be a while in coming),and the top seller store will continue to sell guns.He maintains that wmart doesn't make a load of money on gun sales because of their big markdown,and with the threat of lawsuits springing up everywhere they are cutting their losses.

Been a Remington man since I was 16.For 32 years now I've used a Rem 1100 and Rem 742 and 7400 rifles when deer hunting.Kinda like my Glock 9 mm,too.

I like both tours,but I'd have to go with BASS.It just gets WAY more coverage,and imo the anglers on the BASS circuit are way more recognizable(with a few exceptions).The only time I EVER get to see FLW coverage is when I'm having a bout of insomnia and catch a round on Fox Sports South at 3:00 AM.

I unplug and let the bulbs cool while I prepare the boat for launching.I've had to replace a few blown light bulbs in my time,so I let 'em cool down before backing in.

I used to use snaps and had good results with them.I did it mainly for the ease of changing baits quickly.Last year I began tying straight to the bait.I tend to stay with the bait a little longer and give it a chance to produce.If I'm gonna change,I'm gonna have to take the time to tie it on.I don't really think snaps affect the action.Now,if I'm uncertain as to what color pattern to use I just tie on several different colors on several baitcasting combos until I find something that they want.Nothing wrong with using snaps,though.

My # 1 bait is the 6" lizard.I use a lot of 3X lizards because they float above the thick vegetation that we have down South.I've also used a 6" finese worm and a 4" senko with good results.By far my most successful colors are green pumpkin,black w/blue tail,red shad,and watermelon.When to fish it?Anytime that you want to.I use it mainly in the heat of Summer and also in the Winter.It can be fished successfully at most any depth,but I like to use it in water 8' or deeper.I simply fish it on or near typical deep water structure,and I'm always looking for deep water cover on the structure.

I play elecric and accoustic guitar.I started playing at 12 years old(now 48).I also picked up the bass about 10 years ago.
