  1. I don't know if it's the best, but I've caught my share of nice sized bass on a Strike King white bleeding bait series. Also use Chartreuse and black.
  2. I've been using them for years. My favorite is the lizard. It works great on a C-rig.I fish in places that are covered in grass, and the 3X lizard just floats above it.As for missing bites,I push the hook all the way through the body of the lizard and then just barely skin hook it.I've not had many problems missing bites using this method. The bait lasts forever.I still have bags of baits that I bought 3 years ago.One 3X lizard will go a long way.I also use the 3X Zero on the C-rig,drop shot rig,and weightless.I also use the 3X crawdad as a trailer on jigs.Gives it a different look. These baits work well on a splitshot rig, too.Skin hooking the bait will just about eliminate its only weakness, getting the hook through when you set the hook.
  3. Way too many!Baits that I actually use frequently number about 15-20.Baits that I own "just in case",at least 500,maybe more.I sure wouldn't want to count 'em.
  4. I'll fish jigs,C-rigs,or drop shot rigs on deep structure like everybody else.I also like to find wood cover and flip/pitch jigs in it.I like to pitch a spinnerbait into that same woody cover, banging it into and over the cover, stopping it to let it flutter when it bangs or is pulled over a limb, trunk, etc.
  5. I like to sight fish, but I let the fish go immediately so I don't think much if any harm occurs. As for tourney fishing, someone said it depends on the body of water, and I agree.I don't really know if it hurts or not,but IMO BASS fished impoundments are big enough to withstand any harm that might occur(and FLW too).On a small 300 acre lake like I fish often,I'm not so sure.
  6. Congrats! You'll be at 2000 before you know it.
  7. I prefer thick grass in stump filled flats.Second would be laydowns where I like to throw spinnerbaits and pitch jigs/plastics.
  8. I voted Abu because that's what I started off with and have used for the last 30 years, but in the last 5 years I've added Quantums to the arsenal and love 'em.
  9. I understand that only a small percentage really make the big bucks, but I'd certainly tale that chump change of a half a mil a year to go fishing !
  10. Although I enjoy reading interviews with the pros, they're generally not that informative.I do,however, pick up tidbits here and there.Any info however small is good for me.It may be as insignificant as various ways for retreiving a jig and trailer.Sometimes that just confirms what you already knew, but just knowing Greg Hackney does it that way can improve your confidence in what you are doing. As for TV shows,Bill Dance does give lots of usable tips and tactics. As for pushing a certain product, they all do that.Otherwise the shows wouldn't be on in the first place.I also like Pro Team Journal,Classic Patterns,Angler on Tour, and many others.
  11. I set the hook after a pause.I've missed a few being too trigger happy.I caught four of my 10 biggest bass this past year on a buzzbait(including an 8.1).I use white with a few strands of red, chartreuse w/red,and black w/red.My most successful color was the white.IMO,taking a pause is the way to go on this.
  12. Adidas Sambas-They feel like you're wearing socks.Very comfortable and stable when setting the hook.
  13. I've been taught that by a man that really knows some bass behavior,my father-in-law.I agree with you.During the winter and early spring ,here in the deep South,3 or 4 days of unseasonably warmer days AND nights that aren't frigid cold will move the bass shallower and inable them to feed more aggressively.Good info !
  14. Mrs. Bass, lets clear something up.What do you like the most, big bait powerfishing or finese?
  15. YOU TALKING ABOUT THE BOAT, OR THE GIRL FROM INDIA?...LOL..JUST THE TIMING ON YOUR POST MAN...LOL Good one,squid...LOL !
  16. I'm hoping Gary Klein can finally win one.If I we to predict a winner I'd have to go with a pretty safe bet, KVD.Don't get me wrong. There are dozens who could win it.Did anybody really think Luke Clausen, as good as he is, was going to win it last year?I don't remember anyone picking him.
  17. Colts 24 Bears 17...Bears defense will make scoring a task for the Colts, but Bears offense is mediocore at best.
  18. I have two phobias 1)Flying-I had a bad experience on a flight a few years ago.I'm freaked out about flying ever since. 2)I'm sligthly claustrophobic-MRI's are major events for me.
  19. I'm also against TOO stringent gun laws.I've been selling guns for about 7 months now at my part time job at a local sporting goods store, and I can tell you,It would be virtually impossible for a criminal to buy a gun legally without a straw buyer.I've had several instances already where the FBI NICS check"delayed" the purchase and told me to try and keep the person there until the police arrived.Which they did and took them out in handcuffs. The criminal check with the FBI takes only seconds.I'm usually on the phone with them for about a minute.99% of that is getting info. The computer check gives you an answer in seconds. My point is that we already have good laws and checks in effect. If a criminal is smart they'll buy them illegally anyway.By the way, although I consider myself conservative my House Representative is a Democrat who reflects his constituancy. He's a moderate to slightly right who does not tow the party line.
  20. I'm glad he got fired.I support all of the brave young men and women who are keeping terrorism off of our shores.I could say much more, but I don't want to get it stirred up.
  21. That first season was really special.I don't even bother checking it out anymore.Someone posted that the Versus channel was airing some great bassing shows. They are right. I was watching it the other night, and it was show after show of good fishing programs.
  22. It's already coming down here. For the last few days it has been sinking 10 cents a day. It's at $1.99 right now.I doubt it'll go any further. Is there an election coming up soon?LOL
  23. I've not used Gamma or Suffix, but I'm sure they are fine fishing lines.I have used Yo-Zuri Hybrid and really like it.When I'm pitching into gnarly wood cover,I'll be using the 20 lb Hybrid on a 7'0" heavy rod. When pitching it comes off smoother than any other line that I've ever used.Great with other applications too.
  24. What Reelmech said! I use several Accurist PT's and they are smooth IMO.I'm thinking Performance Tuned means better materials used, and put together better.ASK REELMECH!!!
