June Topwaters
A buzzbait is an excellent choice. They'll let you know pretty quick if they're on it or not.I've been having much success with a floating jerkbait namely Rogues and Rapalas.Gold-black back, silver black back, and silver blue back are all good colors.

First thing you throw???
If it's early in the morning,I always fish a topwater lure for the first couple of hours. If I start up in the day,I usually start off with a spinnerbait. When conditions have the fish locked close to cover,I love to start and finish pitching and flipping tubes and jigs.

how well do you know your home lake?
My home lake that I fish the most is Geiger Lake.It is a state lake that is 300 acres.I've been bass fishing on it(on and off) for 33 years.I know this lake very well.Even on the worst of days I can usually find a few fish.Years ago it was known for large numbers of northern bass, but there weren't many lunkers.I think I caught a 9 and an 8 in my first 15 years of fishing it.You could go and catch 10-20 one pounders if you knew what you were doing. My wife and I caught 33 one afternoon sitting on one dropoff using purple Mr. Twister worms 23 years ago.About 15 years ago,the state drained it and fixed the dam. They restocked it with Florida bass.Nowadays ,I catch 5-10 bass, but they range from 2-5 lbs on most trips.I've already caught 2 eights and 2 sevens this spring and so many 3,4,5 lb bass I lost count.

Favorite Summertime baits
Although it's not yet June(it will be in a few days),where I live the temps are already from 90-97 degrees. My question is what are your most successful Summertime baits? I use a Carolina rig and deep diving crankbaits on deep structure.I also pitch jigs and tubes around and in grass mats.I pitch the same around docks and piers. Are there any others that you use that catch bass for you?
-
Carolina rig strike?
For me the strike can feel several different ways as you guys have mentioned. The hit I feel most often is when I've reeled in the slack after dragging it.When I start to begin the next drag, the bass is on tugging away.I drop my rod tip, reel in the slack, and set the hook with a sideways sweep of the rod.

How much do you spend
I buy a bait here or there when I need replacements or a really good bait comes out,but I don't come anywhere near most of you guys. The exception was last year.I bought a new Yamaha outboard and a new Minn-Kota FC trolling motor, but believe me it was a case of need.It was either that or a new set of paddles.

Storm Concerns
Club rules or not,if lightning starts popping you'd better get off the water.A 2 dollar trophy's not worth your life.

Take me fishing Daddy....
God bless our military.

Night Fishing
I use black s-baits,b-baits,topwaters,etc.I've caught more bass on a T-rigged black or purple Culprit 7 1/2 worm than all of the others combined.I've got many moons under my belt night fishing.
-
If given the situation.
I would fish a t-rigged worm or lizard in watermelon seed, green pumpkin,or red shad.I'd fish it on 8 lb test XL (clear) with a 3/16 ounce weight.

Run in with bait shop owner AAARGH
Sounds like a real horse's arse to me.If it makes you feel any better he probably talks to everybody that way.He just hasn't run into the right guy yet.

Worst fishing habbits?
My worst habit is probably my love of shallow water fishing:topwaters;spinnerbaits;pitching/flipping tubes, jigs, and creature baits;working over grass beds with all manner of lures.I know I should work on the deep water part of my game more, but I'm a shallow water angler by nature. Also,I love fishing fast reaction type baits.I need to slow down a notch.
-
After the pitch
I have a lot of success shaking it like you would a shakey-head worm.I also dead stick it,hop it,drag it,etc. at various times.I get most of my bites as the bait is falling into the cover on the initial pitch.

Re: what bass is your favorite to fish for?
LM bass

baitmonkey goes corporate
Abu-Garcia made me pay a whole 50 cents for a patch.Those no good,cheap so and so's.

Am I the only one?
I've caught bass on senko type plastics, but it's not my favorite way to fish.It may be the best lure ever, but it is a pretty dull way to fish. There are other baits out there in baitland that catch plenty of bass and are fun to fish with.

Picture of Perry's bass!!!!
I saw it ,and it looks as big as the one that got away in CA.

My Apology
Derrick,Just the fact that you are man enough to apologize(I've done it a few times on this site, too) shows that you have character.Forget it now and enjoy this site and your bassin'!

Weeds?
I wanted to give you my 2 cents worth, but these guys have covered just about everything I'd do.As Avid said,if you do the things mentioned in this thread you'll catch some bass.I like what the guy on " A Day on the Lake " said this week.No matter the water temp"where there's grass, you'll find bass" or words to that effect.

Braggin Time
I caught an 8 pound 5 ounce Florida LM bass last Sunday morning at 6:05 AM on a Strike King Bleeding Bait Series white w/red buzzbait.Bent that thing all to hail and back. Also caught a 4 pound 1 ounce LM pitching a watermelon candy 4" FLW tube into a laydown.I've caught an 8-5 and an 8-2 so far this spring.
-
zipping a tube
I read that article and have tried that method. So far no takers, but I'm having a lot of success just pitching the the tube, letting it sit on bottom, and shaking the rod tip to impart action to the tube.
