  1. My favorites are 1)Classic Rock 2)Hard Rock/metal 3)Contemporary Rock Fusion(311,Audioslave,etc) 4)Classic Country(not today's, that sounds more like Rock with a fake Southern accent)
  2. My favorite topwater bait is a Rattlinrogue floater, and for many years I caught a bunch of big bass with it.Hurricane Katrina seemed to really mess up alot of lakes, and change the way you have to fish a lake.My home lake used to be a big time topwater lake, but since the hurricane topwater fishing is fair at best.I thought I'd keep the name although Dropshot Dan or Crankbait Kevin would probably be better now.
  3. The fishing has been decent here. Not good but decent.I'm catching most of my bass on a Chrome/blue back Norman Mad N crankbait and casting a dropshot rig with fluorocarbon in 8 lb test.I'm using a 4" Senko in green pumpkin/watermelonseed.I've argued in the past that Senko imitations were as good as the originals, but I've got to say that I've caught more on a real Senko than I ever did on an imitation. They flat out nail that bait!
  4. I mainly fish a 300 acre man-made lake. Also fish a few 100+ acre lakes, and when I get a chance,I fish some small and medium ponds.I like to float a few local rivers this time of year throwing small white spinnerbaits(H & H is my favorite).Usually catch a ton of bass while floating rivers, but they're all pretty small.Lots of action, though!
  5. I guess it depends on where you fish, when you fish, and under what conditions.I've caught my 4 heaviest bass on floatinf Rogues used as topwaters.
  6. Thanks for the info,RW.I'm gonna try this the next time that I go bassin'.I'm using a 4" Senko green pumpkin/watermelon.I'll have to really focus on SLOW.Thanks again!
  7. I'm not doubting what anyone has to say about catching big bass at mid day,but if you think big bass don't feed in the shallows early you are wrong.I've caught 90% of the big bass that I've managed to bag before 7:00 AM.
  8. I catch bass at dawn and dusk.I prefer dawn because the water has had all night to cool down. Also I just like getting up early and on the water.99.9 % of the time I have the lake to myself.
  9. Looks like Ohio State has a great team after the way they beat a very good Texas team.
  10. 1)green pumpkin 2)watermelon candy 3)red shad 4)grape shad 5)pumpkinsed w/chartreuse tail 6)black w/blue tail
  11. Splitshotting is one of my favorite ways to "wake up the bass",and I like 4" Senkos as well as other finese type baits in that situation. Those are some very interesting ideas you have there.I'll have to try 'em out!
  12. I went anyway. The temps have been in the low 60's all week,so I tried to fish a fall pattern.I fished a feeder creek arm that looked fairly clean.Only got one bit,but it was a 23 inch bass that weighed 6.12 pounds on a Rapala digital scale.I was using a Norman Mad N crankbait(2-5 ft) in chrome w/blue back. The bass was caught in 4-5 ft of water. She really slammed it.Thanks for your advice.
  13. Today, state fisheries officials dumped 1000 pounds of fertilizer in my main lake which is 300 acres. In the past, when fertilized the lake has turned off bigtime. My question for everyone is,do you have the same kind of fish behavior when your lake/lakes are fertilized, and if you do have success what are you doing to catch 'em?I'm off Thursday and Friday(09-14-06 and 09-15-06) and had hoped to fish both days.Should I stay home or do you know of a way that you use to catch 'em?
  14. Yeah,I've seen that list at least 100 times in the last couple of years.I do think the LM bass is # 1,but then again I've never fished for or caught a Smallie.I might change my mind.
  15. 1)12.2 on a chrome/black back Rogue floater 2)10.5 on a gold/black back/orange belly Rogue floater 3)10.1 on a gold/black back/orange belly Rogue floater That's why I call myself Rattlinrogue
  16. I hooked what I considered a big bass a few years back.I was using a Rogue floater and the bass just flat out broke my line.I continued fishing in the same general area when I heard and saw a big fish coming off the water surface trying to throw what looked to be my lure.I kept looking for this, and wasn't disappointed. The bass must have tried 5-6 times, breaking the surface and shaking that big,ole head.I felt pretty sorry for the fish, thinking it might carry the lure in its lip for life. Finally, she did manage to throw the lure. The bait was floating ,so I turned my TM on high and went to investigate.Sure enough ,it was my floating Rogue.
  17. I think we all pretty much wear sunglasses during sunny days, but after seeing Raul's accident I'm probably going to think hard about some safety glasses for other times.
  18. When I stick my rod tip into the water, their head never gets clear of the surface to throw the hooks.
  19. George Perry still rules, but I don't think he will for much longer.
  20. As was said, keep a low rod tip,amd when she comes up to jump stick your rod tip down into the water.Stick it as deep as necessary to keep her head down. You'll lose a lot less fish.
  21. Welcome,Island Bassin! Nice to have you with us,and also nice to know bass fishing has become such a global sport.
  22. Just about every company offers a portable.I also use the Hummingbird Piranha 10 portable. It gets the job done.Battery life lasts a long time, and it is simple to use.
  23. I'm using a Yamaha and love it!I'm completely satisfied with the product and have had no problems.
  24. I'd have to say the Kinami Flash since it's the same thing.I've used tiki stiks with some success, but I'm now using the Strike King 3X Zero.
  25. This site has helped me become a more versitle fisherman. What's helped me the most is reading about what everybody else is having success with in terms of different baits and techniques for catching bass. Also reading members explain how to fish these different baits has helped.
